“Mmm~ Ah.”
An uncontrollable, high-pitched moan escaped Su Yue’s lips as her body tensed. Her slender yet curvaceous legs shot from the water, toes arching into a graceful curve, sending droplets flying.
*Splash!*
Water splashed into the nearby laundry basket, soaking the sportswear Su Yue had changed out of.
Miss Su Yue remained immersed in the lingering afterglow of that unprecedented sensation, her mind slow to regain clarity.
*Hah, hah~*
The Little Vampire stuck out her pink tongue, feeling even her tiny fangs had gone weak. Panting like a puppy, she finally gathered a sliver of coherent thought. With effort, she raised her slightly trembling arms, gripped the tub’s edge, and pushed herself up.
“I never imagined a girl’s body could be so…”
Recalling her recent actions, Su Yue’s face flushed so deeply it seemed ready to drip crimson. What shamed her most? Unconsciously thinking of Chen Yan *during* it.
“Ugh, why did I use a guy as… garnish?”
Furious, she slapped the water. She was being an idiot—why fixate on Chen Yan when so many lovely girls existed?
The bathwater had cooled; she’d soaked nearly half an hour. A sudden draft sent a shiver down her spine.
“Better get out.”
Rising from the tub, moisture stole her warmth. The fluorescent light offered no comfort. Shivering, she grabbed the towel, dried off—then froze. The laundry basket was soaked.
“Could it be from just now…?”
Purely her own technical mishap. No one to blame.
“I’ll dry them with spiritual energy.”
No way she’d ask Chen Yan for fresh clothes. After those tub-side fantasies? She couldn’t face him yet.
Thankfully, this morning at the Enforcement Squad, she’d been forced to drink some of his blood. Now, the small red orb in her dantian brimmed with energy.
“Magic and spiritual energy are essentially the same thing.”
Circulating energy via the Qi Refining technique from her cultivation world days, she gathered warmth into her palms and dried her clothes—the same method Chen Yan used the night he found her.
Soon dry, she pulled on the T-shirt. Since bedtime neared, she skipped underwear. After slipping into her jacket and pants, she tucked the underwear into her pocket, left the socks, and sniffed her clothes—odor-free.
She opened the bathroom door—then froze. A set of white pajamas lay on the floor outside. Her eyes widened in shock.
“Th-this was definitely Chen Yan…”
The Little Vampire’s gaze dimmed. He’d been near the bathroom.
“No, don’t panic. Maybe he didn’t hear anything.” Miss Su Yue swallowed hard.
“Stop deluding yourself. Your voice was loud—he *definitely* heard.” Her inner devil chimed in.
“And don’t hope he came *before* you did that. Leaving clothes and walking away says plenty.” Her inner angel added the finishing blow.
“Annoying! Weren’t *you two* the ones who tempted me?!” Su Yue waved irritably, dispelling the phantom angel and devil, muttering in frustration.
“I can’t show my face…”
She snatched the pajamas and underwear. The living room lights were on, but Chen Yan was gone.
Tiptoeing toward her room like a guilty kitten, her hand grasped the doorknob—
“Su Yue, your hair’s still wet. Sleeping like that might give you a cold.” Chen Yan stood by his bedroom door.
Her hand froze mid-air. Her whole body stiffened. The Little Vampire turned with painful slowness, offering a rigid, awkward smile.
“I’m not used to drying my hair.”
“That won’t do. Come here. Even Bloodkin catch colds.” His tone left no room for refusal.
(Truth was, he had no idea if Bloodkin got sick. *Comprehensive Guide to Non-Human Species* didn’t cover that. He just remembered her feverish state that rainy night he found her.)
“Oh.” Avoiding his eyes, she shuffled to the sofa and sat obediently, legs together.
Chen Yan fetched the hairdryer and a soft stool. “Sit here.”
She complied.
Behind her, he plugged it in and gently ruffled her damp hair.
“Why not use magic?” Su Yue whispered.
“No special reason. Dirty clothes? Washing machine. Drying? Dryer. Cooking? Gas stove. Warmth? Lights…” He smiled. “Just… ordinary life.”
“Ordinary?”
Before she could ask more, the hairdryer whirred to life. One hand combed through her strands; the other guided warm air.
Su Yue closed her eyes against stray hairs. She felt like a Golden Retriever being petted—no, with her silver-white locks, more like a Samoyed.
His technique was skilled: strong blast first, then gentle flow. Fingers separated sections, drying root to tip, occasionally scratching her scalp and behind her ears.
She sighed softly, savoring the scalp massage.
“All done.”
He switched it off, smoothing her slightly tousled hair.
“Mmm? Eh?”
Reluctance flickered. That stroking sensation left the Vampire Princess craving more—like how pets adore head pets, or humans enjoy salon scalp massages.
“You’re really good at this~” she teased.
“I have a younger sister. Dried her hair since we were kids. Got used to it.” He unplugged the dryer.
“Oh.” Right—he’d mentioned family before. *So much for juicy details.*
“Aren’t you heading to bed? You seemed reluctant earlier.” Chen Yan smiled, ruffling her hair again.
“Going now.”
Pleased by the extra head pat, Su Yue left the living room, pajamas in hand. At her door, she paused, turned back—blush unmistakable.
“Um… you didn’t hear any… strange sounds today, did you?”
Chen Yan spread his hands innocently. “No? Brought your pajamas right after you went in, then went to work in my room.”
“That’s a relief~”
Her suspended heart finally settled. Humming lightly, she slipped into her room—mood bright, even if she was just deluding herself.
