Chapter 45: No Need to Notify, I Suppose

Bai Ningning slept until nearly noon. She blinked her eyes open, turned over, and drifted back to sleep.

Just a little longer… just a little while more.

Yesterday’s naval battle had been heartbreaking yet heroic. Bai Ningning stood firm—her aircraft carrier remained unyielding on the vast sea.

Finally, Qin Yue snapped in frustration, “Are you *that* desperate not to lose? Would it kill you to just meow once?!”

Bai Ningning merely grunted twice in reply.

In the end, battleship and aircraft carrier detonated together, leaving both unconscious.

Still, defense and counterattack beat reckless offense. Not only was her battle damage lower, but her damage control activated first. By next morning, Bai Ningning woke before Qin Yue.

She opened her eyes, glanced at Qin Yue—still deep in sleep—and let out a soft, triumphant chuckle.

Hmph.

*Naval battles may be your forte, Qin Yue… but my carrier’s damage control? Just a notch above yours.*

She slowly sat up, slipped into her sleepwear, and headed out.

Only Qin Xin was in the living room. Her eyes were slightly red, yawning occasionally—clearly a rough night.

“Qin Xin, good morning… no, good afternoon,” Bai Ningning strolled over. “You didn’t sleep well?”

“Mm. Just a bit homesick for my own bed.”

Qin Xin offered the excuse, then froze. “You… are you okay? Your walk seems off.”

“Nothing serious,” Bai Ningning replied lightly. “Just a little sore.”

“Sore?!” Qin Xin’s mind raced. *How rough was it?! What even happened?! Couldn’t they be gentler?!*

“It’s normal,” Bai Ningning said, sitting down. Her fair face looked faintly weary. “Youth is full of little aches.”

*Is this really about youth?! …Oh. I guess it is.*

Qin Xin’s head flooded with scenes from tragic youth novels.

*Too painful.*

“Qin Xin… I had no idea you were Sister Yueyue’s little sister,” Bai Ningning began carefully. “Between me and your sister… it’s not strange. Just a normal relationship.”

“Yes,” Qin Xin said flatly. “I didn’t expect it either.”

*What a shock.*

Bai Ningning pressed on: “We actually knew each other before. So this… it’s just love.”

Qin Xin gave a bitter smile. If she hadn’t known the truth, she might’ve believed it.

Even knowing better, she *wanted* to believe—so Senior Ningning would be there willingly, not conquered.

*Some say youth is full of lies… yet someone always chooses to believe.*

*Too painful.*

“Senior Ningning,” Qin Xin swallowed subtly, gaze fixed. “Why’s your sleepwear always like this? Did… Sister make you wear it?”

(She’d noticed yesterday—two thin straps, zero neckline. Absolutely nothing hidden. *Devastating.*)

“Oh, this?” Bai Ningning rested a small hand on her pillow. “Yes. Sister Yueyue had all my sleepwear altered.”

*That despicable sister! Way too much!*

Qin Xin nearly gnashed her teeth—but her eyes stayed glued to the pillow.

Bai Ningning didn’t notice. *She seems like a normal girl… bathing together would be fine, right?*

Awkward? Sure—being caught cohabiting with her junior’s own sister. But she’d been seen leaving the rest room already. No hiding it. *Might as well act normal.*

“Why would she *make* you wear this?” Qin Xin’s voice tightened with anger.

*Senior Ningning swaying those white pillows daily… such a luxurious life. Despicable sister.*

Bai Ningning’s lips curled faintly. “Maybe… it’s my own issue.”

*Fusion complete. Unstoppable. Her chest popped two buttons—one smacked Qin Yue square on the forehead. No wonder Sister demanded this.*

Qin Xin heard only unspoken suffering. *Forced to endure all this…*

Pain +10. Rage +10.

After lunch, Bai Ningning excused herself for a nap. *Chatting with a junior in Yueyue’s home feels weird. Better to scroll in bed. As for Qin Yue? Still dead asleep.*

Qin Xin returned to her room, opened textbooks. *Study. It numbs the pain—even if just for now.*

Headphones on. Music app open. No Jay Chou today—Faye Wong.

*“In those fleeting years, how many ‘goodbyes’ did we delay? Alas, has anyone truly loved? Never just a debate of seven emotions…”*

Meanwhile, Bai Ningning checked QQ. Invites from schoolmates—some she knew, some from the original owner’s circle. She declined each patiently.

*Speaking practice means two days in bed. Doctor Chen’s orders.*

At 4:30 PM, Qin Yue finally stirred—after merging nap and evening sleep. Eyes opened. Bai Ningning’s lovely face hovered close.

“You’re awake? *So* early,” Bai Ningning murmured. “Wake up any later, you’d skip the day entirely.”

*Look—the sky’s already dark.*

Groggy, Qin Yue only half-heard… but sensed the little “green tea” wasn’t being sweet.

“What’s *wrong* with you?” Qin Yue frowned. “Testing me nonstop these two days?”

Bai Ningning blinked innocently. “Me? I’ve always been like this.”

*(Weekend = no school = speaking practice. Doctor Chen said so.)*

Qin Yue’s eyes narrowed dangerously.

“Fine. Let’s see what else that little mouth of yours spits out.”

…

*“We must owe each other~ debts~, or how else~ reminisce~”*

Qin Xin pulled off her headphones, rubbing her ears. A dull ache.

*Ears hurt. Heart hurts more.*

Then—she remembered. Mom texted before weekend: *Visiting Sunday.*

*Tomorrow.*

She stood to tell her sister… then paused. *Yueyue’s holding Senior Ningning, sleeping soundly.*

…Suddenly, she didn’t want to go.

*Mom visiting daughters needs no prep. No need to warn them.*
