Mmm~

Liu Qing lazily stretched out on the sofa with a soft yawn and turned to Xiao Feng.

“Xiao Feng, did you cook anything? Your big sister is *so* hungry~”

Xiao Feng’s gaze accidentally caught her snow-white, slender legs and the subtle hint of cleavage. He swallowed hard.

“Sister Qing, please watch your posture! I’m a grown man right here—how can you have zero guard up?”

Unfazed, Liu Qing narrowed her eyes into a coquettish smile.

“You little brat, since when are *you* a ‘grown man’? In your big sister’s eyes, you’ll always be just a kid.”

Xiao Feng let out a helpless sigh and turned toward the kitchen.

*Sister Qing’s words make me sound like I’m not even capable of being a man… Seriously!*

When dinner was ready, he found Liu Qing already fast asleep on the sofa. Speechless, he thought: *She’s stunningly beautiful, yet shows zero caution around me. Should I laugh or cry?*

“Sister Qing… Sister Qing, time to eat!” he murmured softly beside her.

“Mmm?”

Still drowsy, Liu Qing stretched languidly. “Is it served?”

Xiao Feng sighed deeply. “Yes. Go ahead.”

No sooner had he spoken than she rose, gliding on those long, fair legs to the table and digging in without hesitation.

Having little appetite after today’s events, Xiao Feng had cooked only one portion. He offered a faint smile watching her eat, then quietly retreated to his room.

“Xiao Feng, aren’t you eating?” Liu Qing called, puzzled.

He glanced back with a gentle smile. “Not hungry today. You finish up, Sister Qing. Just lock the door when you leave!”

Inside his room, Xiao Feng lay on his bed. Memories of Xia Xue—once sweet, now shattered—stabbed his heart anew.

*The more you try to avoid pain, the more it claws its way back.* And right now, he was drowning in it.

Lost in thought, he drifted into sleep.

This was a day Xiao Feng wished he could erase.

He’d once believed so fiercely in storybook love, convinced Xia Xue was *the one*. Now he saw it: blind stubbornness. The cruelest twist? Feeling like a toy—discarded the moment he was no longer wanted. Pathetic. Laughable.

Next Day—

Xiao Feng woke past noon. Stepping out, he spotted soy milk and toast on the coffee table, a note tucked beneath.

He picked it up. Elegant script read:

*Xiao Feng, remember to eat breakfast when you wake up~ Your big sister worries if you skip meals!*

—Sister Qing

A warm smile touched his lips. “Never knew Sister Qing could be this thoughtful… She always seems so carefree, always crashing for meals.”

Then it hit him. *Wait—how did she get inside this morning? Did she… stay over last night?*

Impossible. Only his parents (away traveling) and he had keys. And she lived right next door. Why wouldn’t she go home?

Shrugging it off, he decided: *First day of summer break. Order lunch. Take a walk. Maybe the street will shake me out of this heartbreak fantasy.*

(Truth was, Xiao Feng rarely cooked—only when Liu Qing visited.)

After finishing his takeout, he stepped outside to clear his head.

On the Street—

The blazing sun defeated him within minutes.

Heat-sensitive and uncomfortable, he ducked into a nearby mall for shade. His decent mood vanished the instant he saw them.

Xia Xue and Hong Tao.

She wore a black short-sleeve top and ultra-short shorts, her arm looped through his, laughing brightly as she chatted.

*Xia Xue… the last person I wanted to see.*

Without a word, Xiao Feng turned and slipped out.

Standing outside the mall, watching their fading figures, a line echoed in his chest:

*What is love? You vow forever… she walks away halfway.*

*If we ever pass each other again, I’ll pause, gaze at your retreating silhouette, and whisper: “I once loved you.” Maybe we love many times in life… but you—you made me laugh the brightest, cry the deepest, and miss the most.*
