Chapter 21: Meow Like a Cat
update icon Updated at 2026/5/6 23:00:02

Dressed in women’s clothing, I was already wound tight with nerves. Being gawked at so intensely by strangers made my shame swell to bursting—my cheeks burned hot enough to fry an egg.

That chubby little boy ahead kept staring. Could he tell I was a guy? And those two girls to my left, whispering and pointing—were they mocking my outfit? And that cigar-smoking uncle over there… why did he wear that faint, knowing smirk, like he saw right through me?

Fear and anxiety had sharpened my senses to a razor’s edge. The slightest rustle sent my imagination spiraling.

After all, I wasn’t some cross-dressing pro. Just moments ago, I was an ordinary, innocent high school boy—never dated, liked to “critically analyze” certain Japanese videos, and at most, just had a slightly soft face.

But now? Forced into this humiliating maid outfit, stranded in the middle of a bustling street under dozens of eyes… it felt like being stripped naked and tossed onto the school field. This shame and helplessness made me want to bash my head against a block of tofu.

“Can we go back…? This is so embarrassing…” I muttered, head bowed.

“Oh? Already forgetting your Master’s training just because we’re outside?” The girl’s lips curled into a cold smirk.

“Ugh… Master… please, let’s go back…”

“Go back? For what? We’re not done.”

*Sigh.* A devil stays a devil…

But why bring me here? Just to parade my humiliation for her amusement?

As if reading my mind, she smirked higher. “Relax. I won’t make you do anything truly embarrassing in public.”

A tiny weight lifted from my chest.

“It’s just a short clip. Now—meow for your Master.”

Huh?! *Meow?!* In front of all these people?! So it *is* a humiliation play after all!

Seeing me frozen, her expression darkened. “Ten seconds. Or I’ll shout your real gender to the whole street.”

*Again with this?!* Ruthless!

This was the city’s busiest plaza—phones already aimed at me. If exposed, tomorrow’s headline would scream:

*『Why Would a High School Boy Wear a Maid Outfit? Why Flaunt Cuteness in Public? Moral Collapse or Human Failure? Sexual Crisis or Desperate Fantasy? To Become His Brother’s Bride… or Chase a Delusion? Stay Tuned…』*

I… had no choice. Blushing crimson, I whispered:

“Meow…”

“Hey! Are you a starving cat who skipped breakfast? Too quiet!”

I…

“MEOW MEOW MEOW! MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!”

I poured all my frustration into furious meows—but the volume drew even more curious stares.

*Please don’t look at me like that… I’m not a weirdo…*

Still, this time, she seemed satisfied.

“Hmph. Better. Doesn’t sound like a cat starving for three days.” She nodded, then pulled out her phone. “Music time. Sing loud.”

Wait—*still?!* Before I could protest, the tune blared:

*“Let’s learn to meow together, meow meow meow meow meow~”*

*Meow my ass!* I’d heard this song till my ears calloused—but yeah, it was everywhere last month.

Under her glare, I choked out: “Let’s learn to—"

“Where’s your *meow power*?! Voice too soft again!” She cut in like a drill sergeant. “And the moves? Basic cat punch? Tail wag? How do you even *be* a cat? Do you *deserve* to be one? Reflect!”

Wait—I was never a cat! Don’t treat me like one just ‘cause I’m wearing ears and a tail!

The crowd had swelled into a tight circle, buzzing:

“What’s this? Street performance?”

“Obviously influencer hype. These days? One ate *shit* live on stream.”

“Whoa, really?”

“They’re kinda cute. Got Weibo?”

“Let’s add their WeChat after.”

No mirror needed—I knew my face glowed redder than a ripe apple. But under her threat, I lifted my chin and sang, loud and clear:

*“Let’s learn to meow together, meow meow meow meow meow~

Act cute right before you, oh meow meow meow meow meow~

My heart pounds, lost in your mischievous smile…”*

Sing loud. Smile at strangers. Or meet her icy stare.

*Why this public execution?! What do you gain?! Or… do you just enjoy watching me suffer? Are you a hopeless sadist?!*

Song over, she pocketed her phone, smug. “Hey, Xiao Xi. Having fun?”

“Wait—why would you think *I’m* having fun?!”

“Because *I* am.”

I had no words left. Calling her “cruel” felt like a compliment.

“Voice wasn’t bad—no sugar-sweet tone, but passable. Though… skirt a bit short? Watch out for sneaky cameras. Wouldn’t want them catching… the beast beneath~”

“DON’T SAY THAT!”

But I’d never guess what this devilish girl would do next.
