At the most famous restaurant in Anlina, Ophelia had reserved the best seat with a perfect view. She sat quietly, seemingly waiting for someone.
This time was different. Not a trace of impatience crossed her face—only a hint of… nervousness?
Footsteps approached from behind. Ophelia shuddered slightly, then flashed a radiant smile.
*Is it time?*
"Miss, all dishes are ready. Shall we serve now?"
*Just the waiter.* Ophelia exhaled in relief and patted her chest.
"Go ahead. They should be here soon."
If Nefu had seen this reaction, her jaw would’ve dropped. She’d never witnessed anyone making Ophelia this flustered—no, *guilty*-looking.
After a short wait, two female adventurers pushed the door open.
The one on the left had sun-kissed wheat-toned skin, arms wrapped in bandages, a faint scar near her eye—a seasoned warrior.
The one on the right, clearly younger, wore a pointed mage’s hat, clutched a wand, and drew all eyes with her striking heterochromatic eyes.
But what truly caught attention were the shoulder insignias: a sword-wielding angel—the emblem of the Valkyrie Guild. No doubt, both belonged to the second-largest guild, Valkyrie Guild.
"Jian! Nina! Over here!" Ophelia waved eagerly from across the room.
As they drew near, a flattering smile spread across her face—an expression utterly unbecoming of a guild president.
"What brings little Jian and little Nina here today?" she cooed, beaming.
The mage Nina cut in bluntly, "To supervise you."
"Supervise *me*?" Ophelia’s eyes widened with feigned sorrow.
Jian crossed her arms, sat opposite her, and snorted, "President, drop the act. Everyone sees through your tricks."
Ophelia instantly dropped the act, spreading her hands. "Fine, fine! You’re ganging up on me. Nina—did the vice president send you?"
"Yes," Nina sipped her tea calmly. "To check if you’ve been neglecting duties… and look into Anlina’s ghost."
Jian added, "She even named our duo: the President Supervision Squad."
"Uh… really unnecessary," Ophelia muttered, cheeks warm. *Do they all think I’m this unreliable?*
She patted her chest earnestly. "Tell the vice president—I *have* attended Adventurers Guild inspections!"
Jian and Nina exchanged a helpless glance.
"What’s *that* look?" Ophelia protested.
"Give it a rest, President," Nina rolled her eyes. "Six inspections. You attended two. Skipped four. Seriously?"
Ophelia pressed her palms together. "Please don’t tell her! I’m doomed if she finds out!"
"Cut it out, you slacker president!" Nina huffed, pouting. "You’re a major guild leader—act like it!"
Sensing a full-blown scolding incoming, Ophelia pointed hastily at the dishes. "Let’s eat first! Hehe…"
"Don’t think food will silence us," Jian said firmly.
Silence. Ophelia bowed her head briefly—then a cold smirk curled her lips.
"Don’t think Valkyrie Guild status shields you. Refuse the polite offer? Don’t blame me."
She snapped her fingers. Magic surged. Glowing circles flared around her.
Jian shifted into stance; Nina’s wand glowed—
*Flash!* A blinding light erupted. When their vision cleared… Ophelia was gone.
Only a note remained:
*"Dinner’s on me. Catch me? Try again in a few centuries~"*
Doodles of silly faces trailed below. Nina’s temple throbbed.
*This irresponsible president!*
She nearly cast a mana-draining teleport spell—until Jian grabbed her wrist.
"Wait. Investigate the ghost first. Without solid intel, we’ll have nothing for Mr. Abbas’s meeting."
Nina’s gathered mana faded. "You’re right."
She turned to leave—but Jian tugged her sleeve.
"Aren’t we finishing this feast? President’s treat, after all."
"…You have a point."
Back home, Ophelia waved a roast chicken she’d picked up. "Little one, come out! Master bought your favorite~"
"Thank you, Master…"
Nefu hurried out, lips parting as if to speak.
Ophelia noticed. She bent down, ruffling Nefu’s hair gently. "What’s my little cutie wanting to tell Master?"
"M-Master…" Nefu hesitated. "I… want to take a commission tomorrow."
"So soon?" Ophelia blinked, eyeing her suspiciously. "Not buying something… *bad*, are you?"
Beads of cold sweat dotted Nefu’s forehead. *She guessed it!* She still needed so much money for the Slave Contract removal scroll…
"I agree."
Ophelia spoke before Nefu could scramble for an excuse.
