Pale pink eyes.

For some reason, the moment Alan saw those pale pink eyes, a sudden unease rose in his heart.

The feeling had barely appeared when the little girl, her true face hidden beneath a black robe, lifted her hood with slender, furry hands.

Wait. Something wasn’t right.

Why were her hands furry? That was definitely not right.

Then Alan finally saw the little girl’s true face.

And then he stared blankly at the pair of furry ears atop her head.

That’s right. Animal ears.

The ears on the little girl’s head were even twitching.

The Cloud Peak Guild members hiding nearby to watch the show were equally stunned.

Good heavens! Their guild had gained a beast-eared girl!

Worse still, this beast-eared girl was their guild master’s wife.

Bah! Wrong.

Their guild master was the beast-eared girl’s fiancé.

“Alan, Grandpa said you’re my fiancé.”

After removing her black hood, the beast-eared girl looked up at the bewildered Alan.

She stepped closer and blinked her large eyes, curiously studying her fiancé.

Her words successfully jolted Alan out of his daze.

What kind of joke was this?

He’d never known he had a beast-eared fiancée.

This little girl had to be mistaken.

“Beast ears... No, wait... Um, little girl, are you sure you haven’t made a mistake?”

“I can’t be your fiancé. Maybe the Alan you’re looking for is someone else.”

The beast-eared girl bit her thin red lip and shook her head.

“Emma isn’t mistaken. Grandpa said my fiancé is Alan, the guild master of Cloud Peak Guild.”

“His full name is Reinas Alan.”

Alan was about to lose his mind.

She even knew his full name.

That meant what she’d said might actually be true.

But a fiancée?

He genuinely knew nothing about this!

Neither his son-screwing father nor his grandson-screwing grandfather had ever mentioned it!!!

Alan roared inwardly.

“Alan and everyone else might not understand from Emma’s words alone.”

“But once you see this, you should understand.”

The beast-eared girl pulled a sheet of parchment from inside her clothes and handed it to Alan.

Alan desperately wanted to retort.

Sure, you’re adorable, but is it really appropriate to call me by name so affectionately when we’ve only just met?

Thinking that, Alan accepted the parchment and unfolded it.

He skimmed through it in moments.

By the time he finished, fury blazed in his eyes.

He finally understood why the beast-eared girl claimed he was her fiancé.

To put it simply, Alan’s grandfather had “sold” him.

Yes, that grandson-screwing old man had sold Alan.

The parchment read:

I, Reinas Friedner, hereby enter into a contract with the Wolf Clan of the Beastmen.

I betroth my grandson, Reinas Alan, to Emma, the Wolf Clan’s little princess.

In exchange, I shall receive one jar of the Wolf Clan’s sacred wine, aged for five hundred years.

Below it was Alan’s grandfather’s magical seal.

The old man had even written Alan’s name on it for good measure.

What truly enraged Alan was the final sentence.

His unreliable grandfather had sold him for a single jar of five-hundred-year-old wine!

Was a man like him only worth one jar?

Damn that old geezer!

A handsome young man with boundless potential like him should’ve been traded for at least thirty to fifty jars!

That’s right.

Alan was furious because his grandfather had sold him too cheaply!!!

After reading the parchment, Alan turned and handed it to Haina.

He certainly hadn’t forgotten about her.

Eli Gaor hadn’t been wrong.

Ever since childhood, Haina had practically raised Alan to be her man.

If he didn’t let her learn the whole story, she might chop him to pieces tonight with a forty-meter blade.

The guild members who’d hidden nearby quietly gathered around Haina to read the parchment as well.

“All right, little—”

“Alan, please call me Emma.”

“Also, Emma isn’t little. I’ll be one hundred after this year.”

Alan fell silent.

Ninety-nine years old.

She really wasn’t young.

If she were human, she’d already be sleeping eternally inside a coffin at that age.

In this world, ordinary humans had roughly the same lifespans as humans on Earth.

They lived to around a hundred, then entered their coffins for eternal rest.

Mages lived a little longer than ordinary humans.

Of course, Mages below Rank A were no different from ordinary people.

Only after reaching Rank A would a Mage’s lifespan increase.

A Rank A Mage could live to one hundred and fifty.

After becoming an S Rank Mage, their lifespan increased by another fifty years.

A Super S Rank Mage gained another hundred years on top of that.

In short, the higher a Mage’s rank, the longer they lived.

Alan’s grandfather was the kind of Mage whose rank was absurdly high.

That was why the old menace was still around.

Humans weren’t the only inhabitants of this world.

There were also Beastmen, Elves, Dwarves, and all kinds of other beings.

Of course, some people could live their entire lives without ever seeing one of those nonhuman races.

Their ages also worked differently from human ages.

Emma, the beast-eared girl before Alan, was a perfect example.

She was ninety-nine this year.

Converted to human age, she was only around twelve or thirteen.

Alan already knew that.

After all, he’d lived in this world for fifteen years.

And since he was a Mage, he knew many things ordinary people didn’t.

Knowing it was one thing.

But when Emma said she was ninety-nine, Alan still felt like his awful grandfather had sold him to an old lady.

Yet the exact opposite was true.

Emma wasn’t an old lady.

She was still an underage child.

She was simply rather well-developed.

Alan felt that one phrase had been made especially for Emma:

Baby-faced and busty.

Alan rubbed between his brows in frustration.

He’d suddenly gained a beast-eared fiancée, and the pressure was immense.

Especially since his fiancée belonged to the Wolf Clan.

The Wolf Clan.

You know how it is.

On their wedding night, she might be a shy beast-eared girl one moment, then transform into a furry werewolf the next.

Alan shuddered just imagining it.

An interspecies romance like that was probably something only Xu Xian would dare attempt.

“Alan... do you... hate Emma?”

When Alan stared at her without speaking, timidness appeared in Emma’s pale pink eyes.

Her two furry ears, which had stood upright, drooped sadly.

“No, no. I definitely don’t hate you, Emma.”

“I’m just curious.”

“You’re the Wolf Clan’s little princess. Why did you disguise yourself and enter the human world to find me?”

“Was it all because of that contract?”

The Beastmen lived on the Northern Plateau.

To enter the human world, they had to cross two deadly natural barriers and three fortresses.

The hardships involved were beyond words.
