Chapter 33: The Endearing White Wolf and
update icon Updated at 2026/1/1 14:30:02

The White Wolf King stood unscathed, impervious to blades and magic, sending a trace of fear through Lin Zhong.

Yes, fear.

Lin Zhong, who always treated dungeon bosses like punching bags, felt fear for the first time inside a dungeon instance. This White Wolf King was a true monster.

An undying monster. Lin Zhong finally understood why his attacks did nothing—the damage was zero to it.

To it, he was just an ant.

“No way,” Alice muttered, staring in disbelief at the still-standing White Wolf King. Her Forbidden Spell plus Lin Zhong’s bomb hadn’t even singed a single hair.

This wasn’t just scary—it bred a hint of terror deep inside.

Was this the end?

Alice couldn’t help but think: this was just a freshman trial… ending like this? The first time… also the last?

“Switch.”

Lin Zhong gritted his teeth. Snowfall Thousand Chills dissolved into powder, vanishing from his hand.

[Account switch?]

A beep sounded. Lin Zhong’s phone flashed brightly.

[Select account to switch]

[Switch White Reaper Lin Zhong to Joker Lin Zhong]

[Confirm…]

Messages kept popping up, but before Lin Zhong could tap confirm, the White Wolf King moved. Its massive body didn’t slow its shocking speed.

Strangely, this werewolf ran on all fours instead of upright.

“Glorious—”

Lin Zhong didn’t finish. The wolf pounced—not the ten-meter giant, but a cute white wolf pup?

“Awooo~”

The pup tackled Lin Zhong to the ground, its tiny tongue licking his cheek nonstop.

Meow?

[Confirm account switch?]

Beeps echoed. Lin Zhong froze, utterly confused.

What happened to the white werewolf? Where did this pup come from?

He never pressed the switch button. The system chimed first.

[Dungeon Instance ‘Werewolf Village Mystery’ completed. Calculating rewards.]

Meow? Meow meow meow?

Both Lin Zhong and Alice opened their phones, heads full of question marks. But the screen clearly showed dungeon clearance.

So they’d actually succeeded?

Where was the White Wolf King? Could it be… this?

Lin Zhong stared at the pup licking his cheek. He couldn’t match this fluffy thing to the invincible beast from moments ago.

The White Wolf King had been majestic and powerful. This pup? Pure mascot material.

[Werewolf Village Mystery, Multiplayer Dungeon Instance, Difficulty S]

[Item Obtained: White Wolf King (Exclusive)]

[Reward: 700,000–800,000 Credits]

[Student ID: Lin Zhong. Use alias or title?]

“No.”

Lin Zhong shook his head. Hiding his identity didn’t matter now. What caught him was the item name—White Wolf King—and its “Exclusive” rarity.

Huh? Pets count as items? And since when do items have “Exclusive” tiers?

Meanwhile, Alice’s screen showed something else. Still dazed, she blinked at her phone.

[Werewolf Village Mystery, Multiplayer Dungeon Instance, Difficulty S]

[Personal Rating: S, Credits: 350,000, Remaining Credits: 350,000]

[Item Obtained: Spell—Beast Call (S)]

[Reward: 0–500,000 Credits]

[Title Generated: Spirit of Elements]

[Student ID: Alice Colette. Freshman trial period: anonymity system disabled.]

Alice didn’t care about the title or reward boost. It was the 350,000 credits—a huge sum.

Freshmen started with only 150,000 credits. Not enough for a heiress like her.

Outside currency turned worthless here. Billions of dollars? Just paper.

Credits came from dungeon instances or city jobs. Alice wouldn’t work—skills aside, her personality wouldn’t allow it.

She’d spent her credits like water. In days, she’d drained what others hoarded. That’s why she’d craved this notification.

The delayed notice and being ignored had nearly broken her. But today, she’d turned the tables.

350,000 credits. Her bounty hit 500,000. Plus a legendary title. How could she not be thrilled?

Unlike Lin Zhong, drowning in credits yet hiding, Alice forgot her despair instantly. She was already planning how to spend it.

“Meow?”

The gray kitten perched on Alice’s head leaped onto Lin Zhong, wrestling the wolf pup for his attention.

Finally, the two settled on Lin Zhong’s shoulders—one gray, one white; cat and wolf.

[Confirmation complete. Returning to town.]

The scenery shifted back to the crimson-black buildings.

“Clothes.”

Lin Zhong held out his hand to Alice.

“What?”

Alice snapped back, confused. Clothes?

“My hoodie. Give it back.”

He pointed at the black hoodie she wore—his hoodie. He wouldn’t leave like this.

“You’re taking it back?”

Alice slipped it off, handing it over awkwardly.

“Obviously.”

Lin Zhong pulled it on, hoodie and all. The wolf and cat poked out from his hood, settling back on his shoulders.

“Oh, here’s the freshman trial form. Accept it.”

Lin Zhong pulled out his phone. Alice’s pocket beeped. She tapped YES without thinking.

But instead of a file, this appeared:

[Club system activated]

[Welcome to Fool’s Court, Alice Colette]

“EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!”
