Finally home!
I wanted to shout it out loud. But remembering the zombies outside, I suppressed my joy. Pulling out my keys, I walked up the stairs happily.
My apartment was on the first floor—not the old-fashioned kind, but one with a basement. Technically, it sat at second-floor height.
Joyfully, I fumbled for my keys. Just as I stepped into the stairwell, a zombie heard my hurried footsteps and burst out!
One stab ended it. These ordinary zombies didn’t scare me anymore—not if there were three or fewer. Their movements were too predictable.
They sprinted fast in straight lines but turned clumsily. Their stiff hands always reached forward to claw.
Actually, dodging a zombie’s lunge just required a quick sidestep before it grabbed you. If you were fast like me, you could plunge the Dagger into its brainstem or temple. No twisting needed—one stab sent it flying with momentum, never to rise again.
After killing it almost instinctively, I finally looked at the zombie.
“Isn’t this… the guy next door?” I glanced at its body twitching slightly on the ground. Suddenly, I remembered something useful.
I walked over and searched the silent zombie. Sure enough, a set of keys hung from its jeans belt loop.
I took them off. Sighing at this old brother who always showed off fancy gadgets, I muttered, “I never thought… you’d become a zombie too.”
If he hadn’t turned, his smarts and caution would’ve kept him alive. But he probably became a zombie right at the start of the Apocalypse…
I shook my head, pushing away pointless thoughts. Jiggling the keys, I said softly, “Brother Liu, sorry to bother your home. If your spirit watches… don’t blame me.”
As I spoke, I drifted off… Do these people go to hell or heaven after death?
Strictly speaking… they all died by my hand. If heaven and hell exist, I’ll surely go to hell.
I shook my head, my long hair swaying. A strand slipped into my collar.
“This long hair… I should probably do something about it.”
Muttering, I climbed the stairs. The stairwell was quiet—no zombies, or they’d left.
I slowly opened my familiar door. Home’s scent washed over me. Finally, with a rare trace of a smile, I stepped inside.
Simple place. Tiled floors covered the ground. The living room greeted me upon entry. To the left and right were two rooms each. The sunny room on the right was my bedroom; the dark north-side room was the kitchen.
I tossed my backpack by the door and kicked off my shoes. Plopping onto the dusty sofa, I didn’t care anymore.
I stripped off my blood-stained jacket and threw it in the trash. In just a tank top and flip-flops, I walked to my bedroom.
“Finally… back…”
I took off all my clothes. This outfit had seen multiple battles—even the shoes were caked with dried blood. A foul stench hit me. Outside, I’d ignored it, focused on survival. But now, relaxed at home, I noticed it again.
“Looks like… I’ll go naked for a bit. Hmm… I remember the neighbor had a big water jar. I’ll get some later and bathe?”
Muttering, I gathered the clothes. I opened the window and threw them out.
Sunlight on my skin—would it make me shy?
Anyway, no living people left. What did I have to care about?
Relaxed, I lay on the bed. My body faintly smelled fresh but carried a strong stench too. Thin clothes had let zombie blood seep through and stick to my skin.
Thinking of that disgusting blood, I felt uneasy.
Was this legendary fussiness?
After thinking, I decided to bathe first…
I stood up in flip-flops. Grabbing my combat knife and the keys, I walked out…
Wearing nothing else.
I recalled the neighbor had a sister. They relied on each other. He worked away to pay her tuition. She often returned during holidays to help with chores or work.
Thinking of this… wait, shouldn’t she be on summer break? It was early August.
His sister wasn’t beautiful, but she had a great figure.
Subconsciously, I compared myself. To my shock, I felt secret joy at winning the comparison.
A chill ran through me! I buried that feeling deep, hoping to forget it.
Right across from my door was his home. Just four or five meters away—I reached it in steps. I pulled out the keys and turned them. With a click, the iron security door slowly opened. A sharp roar erupted.
“So… it’s like this…”
I felt deflated. I hadn’t wanted to think about his sister turning. But the weak zombie before me shattered that faint hope.
Truth be told, I quite liked that girl. More or less… well, there was a hint of something.
But no matter how I felt, she was now inhuman.
I sidestepped her lunge effortlessly. Instinctively, I plunged the knife into her brain. With a soft gurgle, her body thumped to the floor. Her long hair spilled across the ground. I couldn’t bear to look.
Nothing to say. With a desolate heart, my eagerness to bathe cooled. I entered the apartment. Its layout mirrored mine, just with two extra rooms.
The small space felt cozy. From what I knew, the siblings rarely argued. They always got along well.
I even sometimes joked he’d end up at a German hospital’s orthopedics department someday…
A wall clock hung there. The sofa and furniture were intact. To the left, the sunny side, were two rooms. To the right, similarly, two more.
Without hesitation, I checked the kitchen first. I confirmed the large water jar inside.
Seeing it full of clean water, my mood lightened. At least, I could bathe now.
In flip-flops, I entered the sister’s room. Pink decor filled it—stuffed bears on the bed, wall ornaments, a dressing table, a single bed, a study desk, and a computer.
Simple, but very clean.
“Sorry to intrude…”
Though empty, I instinctively said it. I headed straight for the wardrobe. Opening it, the array of clothes dazzled me.
Her clothes looked neat and clean. I remembered she was about my height.
I took out pants and compared. Sure enough, almost the same size.
I grabbed a few pairs and a base-layer top, tossing them on the bed. Searching further, I found what I wanted.
Underwear.
I didn’t know how to measure a woman’s bust. So I had no idea how much these two mounds weighed. But no matter—I’d try hers first.
All the clothes were spotless. She was a tidy girl.
“Such a pity…”
I took out a few pieces. To my surprise, some were brand new!
“Bought but never worn?”
Hmm, not too conservative but not daring either. A proper white lace bra.
I compared sizes—seemed close. I tried it on, tearing off the tag first.
“Huh? How… does this clasp?”
After fiddling, I realized women’s underwear was surprisingly hard to put on. But once on, my balance improved. No longer front-heavy—the weight rested on my shoulders. It felt much better.
“A bit tight, but I’ll make do…”
I bounced slightly. Sure enough, the two mounds jiggled…
“Is this the legendary boob bounce?!”
Ahem…
The panties seemed one-size-fits-all. They fit comfortably—much better than wearing pants directly.
After trying them, I took everything off. I went to the kitchen, grabbed a basin, filled it with water, and headed to the bathroom.
“Take a bath… then figure out what to do next…”
Saying that, I slowly pushed open the bathroom door.
