"Xuehan? Xuehan? What's wrong? Your face suddenly looks so pale?"

Xia Ziying's insistent calls snapped the girl out of her memories.

Jiang Xuehan looked up and managed a slight smile. "I was too focused on gaming earlier. Just a bit dizzy. Nothing serious."

Wen Jiaqi quickly chimed in beside her. "I told you! Watching you play makes me dizzy. How were you fine before?"

"Alright, Jiaqi. Xuehan's like this because of me." Xia Ziying turned to Jiang Xuehan, grasping her small hand on the desk. Her eyes held pure sincerity. "Xuehan, thank you so much. You even stood up to two seniors for me. We've only known each other a day, but I feel you're a true friend. I'm so happy we're roommates."

Not to be left out, Wen Jiaqi added, "Don't forget me! I was cheering for Xuehan the whole time from behind!"

"Pfft, okay, thank you too." Jiang Xuehan's smile softened. "College life just started, but I know we'll get along great for four years."

"Mhm! Mhm!"

Wen Jiaqi placed her hand on top. The three girls' hands stacked together, sharing a warm, wordless smile.

On the walk back to the dorm, Wen Jiaqi couldn't help gossiping about the last roommate. "...What do you think she'll be like? Can she become good friends with us three?"

"Probably. Let's think positively," Xia Ziying, ever the optimist, replied. "Xuehan, your thoughts?"

"Well, I'll see her by tomorrow at the latest. We'll know then."

But when they entered Room 312, the last roommate was already there. At first sight, Jiang Xuehan's eyes lit up.

What a stunning girl!

Silky flaxen hair flowed down her back. Her face was petite as a palm, features flawless like a star's. Nearly 170cm tall, her curvy figure was wrapped in a white printed chiffon dress cinched at the waist. She looked like an anime-style beauty jumped straight out of a 2D world.

Wen Jiaqi was the girl-next-door type—not classically pretty, but her slightly plump, baby-faced cheeks were adorably chubby. Xia Ziying was the common "class beauty"—lovely and cute at first glance. But this new roommate? Her first impression was pure awe. One couldn't help marveling at such unearthly beauty. If the university held a campus queen contest, she'd win easily. Becoming a superstar idol or model someday would surprise no one—it'd only match her radiance.

Yet her entourage was odd. Freshmen usually arrived with parents setting up supplies, giving advice, maybe touring campus. But hers were two burly men in black suits and oversized sunglasses—straight out of a gangster flick. Worse, they were swiftly moving Jiang Xuehan's already-settled belongings!

Though uneasy, Xia Ziying stepped forward. "Um, this bed's taken. Yours is over here."

The new roommate turned, sizing her up with a haughty shake of her head. "I refuse! You grabbed all the good spots, leaving me the worst-ventilated one. I won't suffer that."

Such blatant arrogance stunned even Xia Ziying. *What spoiled rich girl is this? So inconsiderate?*

A quick background: Dorm 7's Room 312 had four beds stacked above desks. With only one window, two beds got fresh air—Jiang Xuehan's was closest, perfect for summer nights. As first to arrive, she'd claimed it naturally. Xia Ziying and Wen Jiaqi understood; no complaints.

But this latecomer? No greeting, just demanding a swap.

Even gentle Wen Jiaqi snapped. "Xuehan was first! You came late—why should she swap? At least ask nicely!"

The roommate shot her a cold glance. "I'm not swapping with you. Shut up, fat girl."

Wen Jiaqi nearly exploded.

In a flash, the girl loomed over Jiang Xuehan, looking down imperiously. "This is your bed, right? We're swapping. No objections?"

Xia Ziying and Wen Jiaqi seethed, ready to defend their friend.

But Jiang Xuehan stayed calm. Her slightly pale face showed no anger—just a pure, harmless smile as she extended her hand. "Hello, I'm Jiang Xuehan. And you?"

Taken aback, the roommate shook it. "Li. Li Xinglan."

"Mm, I'll call you Lanlan. You can call me Xuehan." Jiang Xuehan's smile didn't waver.

"Uh... okay." Li Xinglan blinked, confused by the easygoing reply. "So... the swap's settled?"

Jiang Xuehan tilted her head, big eyes thoughtful. "Swapping's fine—I'm not picky. But agreeing outright feels unfair. My friends would worry."

"Then what do you want?" Li Xinglan frowned, puzzled. Her two suited guards leaned in, listening.

"How about a game? If I lose, I swap beds. That way, no one blames you later."

"A game?" Li Xinglan paused, then grinned with sudden confidence. "Fine. But I choose the game—I don't know many."

"No problem." Jiang Xuehan agreed instantly. "We'll be roommates four years. A game builds friendship. But if I win? You owe me a favor."

"Ugh, bets are messy. Win, and I'll do anything for you. Happy?" Li Xinglan's smirk radiated absolute certainty.

Xia Ziying pulled Jiang Xuehan aside, whispering urgently. "Xuehan, this feels off. Don't gamble. You're in the right—we can report her to the dorm manager."

Jiang Xuehan patted her hand, smiling faintly. "Relax, Ziying. Losing just means a bed swap. The door spot's stuffy in summer but cozier in winter. No big deal."

She turned back to Li Xinglan, gentle as ever. "Settled then. What game?"

Li Xinglan's mysterious confidence flared. She pulled two card decks from her suitcase. "Back-to-Back Card Flip!"
