Chuxingyue pressed her ear to the door. Footsteps faded away.

“Xiao Mu?” she called softly.

No reply.

Gritting her teeth, she opened the door.

Xiao Mu stood there, grinning.

“You… tricked me!” She stomped her foot, trying to slam the door shut.

Xiao Mu blocked it. “Sister Xingyue, are you mad?”

“No!” She huffed.

“She’s just a friend. She wanted to learn Sanda, so she asked me to teach her,” he explained.

“Then why was she at your place?” Chuxingyue still doubted.

“An accident,” Xiao Mu chuckled.

She nodded reluctantly. “Fine. I’ll believe you… barely.”

Xiao Mu realized this felt like a lovers’ squabble. So Chuxingyue really did like him.

“Sister Xingyue, what did you need?” he asked.

“I heard noise from your room, knew you were back. I came to clean for you,” she admitted.

“Oh… wow. You’re so kind to me!” Xiao Mu grinned cheekily.

Chuxingyue rolled her eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m just repaying that nice meal you bought me.”

Xiao Mu hummed. Remembering Night Glass waited, he said, “I should head back, Sister Xingyue. My friend’s expecting me.”

Chuxingyue paused. “I want to learn Sanda from you too!”
