Chapter 1: The Goddess Conquest System
update icon Updated at 2025/12/10 17:30:58

As a loser and otaku, Xiao Mu’s Sunday routine was simple: gaming all day, anime all night.

In this age of constant love-showcasing online, having no girlfriend sucked—and never having dated sucked even worse!

Xiao Mu was already eighteen. Except for kindergarten days… he’d never even held hands with a girl his age?!

Honestly, his life was pathetic.

But Xiao Mu had grown used to his quiet loser existence. Girlfriends? Screw that!

Xiao Mu lay sprawled on his bed, messy hair sticking out, a lollipop dangling from his mouth as he grinded his game.

Around him… scattered underwear, socks, and snack wrappers perfectly showcased otaku life.

“Damn, too many noobs!” Xiao Mu muttered after a match, utterly exasperated.

Glancing at the time, he realized it was noon. He set his phone aside and headed to the fridge for food.

Opening it, Xiao Mu despaired. The huge fridge held only one baozi!

“Whatever, I’ll make do. I’ll buy more later.”

Without checking the expiration date, he stuffed it into his mouth.

“Huh? Actually pretty good.”

Maybe hunger made him think that.

The baozi vanished quickly. After eating, Xiao Mu felt strangely… full?

But his appetite usually needed five big meat buns to feel satisfied!

Just as he puzzled over this, a surge of heat erupted inside him! It rushed from his stomach straight to his brain!

“Aaah!!”

A stabbing pain tore through his head, like countless ants gnawing at it.

Xiao Mu clutched his skull, rolling on the floor nonstop.

Pain… unbearable pain… he wished he could just die. This agony was too much!

After what felt like forever, the pain faded. Xiao Mu lay gasping on the floor, too drained to move.

He’d never forget that torment.

Just one baozi—was this necessary? What happened to food safety? Xiao Mu still grumbled inwardly.

“Ding! Congratulations, Host, on integrating the Goddess Conquest System. Loading…”

A cold robotic voice abruptly sounded in Xiao Mu’s ear.

“Huh? What was that?” Xiao Mu stood, glancing around, wondering if he’d hallucinated.

“Ding! Loading complete. Goddess Conquest System activated!”

Xiao Mu’s eyes widened. He’d heard it clearly this time. But… the living room was empty!

Cold sweat broke out on his back. Today was way too weird.

Suddenly, a flash of white light blinded him. When his vision cleared… a virtual interface floated before his eyes!

It displayed:

Goddess Conquest System (First Generation)

Xiao Mu rubbed his eyes hard… Holy crap, this was real!

The interface followed his gaze wherever he looked.

He tried touching it, but his hand passed right through—as if it didn’t exist.

“Notice: Interface controlled by thought only. Physical touch ineffective.” The robotic voice spoke again.

Still startled but calmer, Xiao Mu took a deep breath. “You… who are you? What is this system?”

“I am the system. Advanced tech from another dimension. My purpose: help you conquer goddesses.”

Xiao Mu was speechless. How bored must its creator be, calling this “advanced tech”?

“Then… why fuse with me?” He steadied his nerves.

“My original dimension was destroyed. My creator sent me to Earth, but I ended up inside a baozi. You ate it—fusion occurred.”

So… that was it? Xiao Mu had hoped for some grand hidden identity.

“You said this system helps conquer goddesses. What if I refuse?”

“You must complete assigned tasks. Failure means punishment.”

“What punishment?”

“The fusion pain you felt—three times. After that, termination.”

Holy shit, that’s harsh! And this was forcing a harem on him?

“Ding! First task: Discover your first goddess within ten minutes. Fail, and face punishment.”

The interface updated, showing the task with a ten-minute countdown.

“So soon?” Xiao Mu panicked. He still had questions!

“System, what defines a goddess?”

“A woman with outstanding aura, looks, and talent.”

“And ‘discovering’ one?”

“She enters your line of sight. System auto-registers her.”

Xiao Mu understood. But where to find such a person? As a loser, he knew zero goddesses… Wait!

His eyes lit up. He dashed out, pounded on his neighbor’s door.

After eight seconds, it opened. Xiao Mu stared wide-eyed at the woman there.

She was around eighteen—stunningly beautiful, eyes sparkling like stars. Her classical oval face radiated cool elegance, tall frame draped in long black hair. Two words summed her up: goddess!

“Ding! Task complete. First goddess discovered: Chuxingyue. Difficulty: 3.5 stars. Initial affinity: 60. Reward: 30 points. Keep it up!” The system’s voice relieved him, but the situation was painfully awkward.

Chuxingyue gaped at her neighbor—hair a mess, wearing only boxers and slippers—momentarily stunned.

“Uh, can I help you?” she asked, snapping out of it.

Huh? Her voice was amazing! No—focus!

“Ding! Chuxingyue’s affinity decreased by 5 points. Host, be cautious!”

Affinity down? That sounded bad. But Xiao Mu’s brain raced—a flash of inspiration struck.

“Uh… I caught a thief in my place. He shoved me down and ran. I chased him but lost him. Worried he might’ve rushed here—and you’re alone—I came to check.” He spoke earnestly.

His messy look and clear eyes actually convinced her.

“Thanks for caring. I’m fine. Are you hurt? Did he steal anything important?” Chuxingyue asked gratefully.

Wow? She believed that? So naive.

“Ding! Chuxingyue’s affinity increased by 8 points. Keep it up!”

Xiao Mu finally believed she trusted him.

“I’m okay. Nothing stolen. Uh… since you’re safe, I’ll go.” He turned to flee.

“Wait.” Chuxingyue extended a slender, clean hand. “I’m Chuxingyue. Your name?”

Xiao Mu eyed her hand, then his own dirty one. He chuckled dryly. “Xiao Mu. Maybe I should wash up first?”

Chuxingyue giggled. “It’s fine. Just a handshake.”

Her laugh made his heart race. She was too beautiful!

He shook her hand awkwardly, pulling back instantly. Insecurity gnawed at him.

“Ding! Chuxingyue’s affinity increased by 3 points. Keep it up!”

Xiao Mu froze. Even that boosted affinity?

“I’ve lived here a week but forgot to introduce myself. Sorry,” Chuxingyue apologized warmly.

“No worries!” Xiao Mu shook his head fast.

“Visit me sometime if you’re free,” she added kindly.

“Thanks… I will.” Talking to her, Xiao Mu realized she wasn’t aloof—just gentle.

He hurried back to his room, head down. Chuxingyue watched him go, smiling softly.

Closing his door, Xiao Mu sighed in relief.

Chuxingyue had moved in last week. He’d seen her a few times, thought her beautiful, but never dared speak.

Without this system task, he’d never have known how kind she was.

Now, he studied the updated interface:
