Chapter 6: I Am Yours (Part 2)

The sound of water kept flowing. I was certain Senior Thousand Feathers would take a while longer to finish, so I still had time to restore my mana.

But she definitely knew my thoughts. I had to recover faster than normal.

Which meant I needed something extra to help me replenish.

After Senior left my side, I slowly slipped into Demon Hunter mode. My heartbeat slowed, so faint it was almost imperceptible if you didn’t focus.

In this state, every Demon Hunter gains new abilities—some more, some less. I was no exception.

The shared trait? Terrifying dynamic vision and neural reflexes. Even thought speed increased.

I suddenly felt incredibly lucky—I could still activate Hunting Mode under these circumstances.

So great! (*σ´∀`)σ

Glistening liquid welled in my eyes. Every detail I’d previously ignored in the room perfectly reconstructed in my mind. I could even recall the exact creases I’d made on the bedsheets.

“Then… next up…” I turned to the plump cat lying quietly beside me, hope glinting in my eyes.

My arm inched toward its chubby face. Gently, I placed my palm on its cheek. With my right index finger, I secretly drew a simpler Runic Spell pattern compared to the earlier ones. A faintly glowing yellow sigil appeared on the cat’s fur.

Strangely, no mana ripple stirred. If not floating above its skin, anyone might mistake it for an ordinary doodle.

“Sister Miao… it’s all up to you now!” I bit my lip lightly, steadying my trembling hand.

The Runic Spell ignited effortlessly. An undetectable ripple shot upward from our dorm roof, vanishing into the night sky within breaths.

“Huh… this mist…” Inside the bathroom, Thousand Feathers paused briefly. She shook her head with a sigh and turned up the water pressure, clearly eager to finish her shower.

Droplets traced her graceful curves, pooling on the tiles before swirling down the drain.

Steam veiled her perfect figure. That indescribable beauty remained hidden, buried beneath the haze.

The sigil flew endlessly—over neon-lit cities, silent forests, and quiet rivers—until it descended into a remote town. It landed in a derelict district where broken streetlights had gathered dust for years.

“…”

An exquisitely crafted dagger rose slowly, pressing forward. Its target: a petite silhouette.

The blade rested against her throat. Starlight glinted off its surface, illuminating the delicate curve of her jaw.

A heart-shaped face. A neck sculpted by a master artisan. Youthful features laced with an almost unnatural allure. It was easy to lose yourself in her budding beauty.

No one would doubt she’d become a breathtaking woman in a few years.

Yet her voice now dripped with despair. Her tearful pleas carried a sorrow that could make strangers weep.

“P-please… let me live… I’m the last one… Why… why won’t you spare me even now…”

Her tears didn’t sway the dagger’s wielder. The blade’s reflection only made her pitiful expression more haunting.

Even in peril, her beauty remained unblemished—like a snow lotus blooming alone on an icy cliff.

Grace and nobility seemed woven into her very being.

“No mercy. You must die.” The voice finally broke the silence. Its icy tone froze the girl’s soul solid.

Hearing this, her face crumpled. Tears fell, hitting the dusty floor like a dirge of frost.

“I’ll… I’ll do anything! Just let me live!”

Clutching one last hope, she choked back fresh tears. Her gaze hardened as she stared straight at her assailant.

“…No. Must… die.”

The cold voice returned. A trace of something flickered within it—just a trace.

“…”

The woman in black fell silent.

The descending Runic Spell plunged into her body. Her dagger hand froze mid-motion. Something had interrupted her. Something she couldn’t ignore.
