The people around stared at him in shock. The guy from before was glaring, pissed off. A brat actually dared interrupt him “conquering” a loli?
This kid clearly wasn’t here to buy food. He was pulling a hero-saves-the-loli stunt, right? Just wait till you eat that Wolfen bun and puke it back up—your face is gonna be priceless.
He ignored the stunned looks, tossed a gold coin onto the stall, and said, “Boss! Twenty buns!”
“Okay!” The little girl grabbed two bags of already wrapped buns and handed them to Sky Qi.
“The hell? Someone actually bought them?”
“Hey, the guy who said he’d stream himself eating shit, where is he?”
“Hahaha, bet even if he buys one he won’t dare eat it.”
Sky Qi tore open a bag, grabbed a bun, and stuffed it into his mouth. His face stayed completely calm, not a twitch—like he was just eating some normal snack.
No way. He really ate it? The bystanders’ expressions turned weird. That man’s face went constipated. “Brat, drop the act. If it’s gross, just say it. Don’t put on that fake-ass face, it’s disgusting to look at.”
Sky Qi frowned. Seriously? Bro, I’m just buying food, how did I offend you? He couldn’t be bothered to respond. With a bun between his teeth, he walked out of the crowd.
To be honest, he didn’t feel like he was doing a good deed. But in everyone else’s eyes, he’d just stepped in to rescue the little loli.
The man felt he’d lost all face and shouted at him, “Hey, brat, ever heard the name Corian?”
The people nearby suddenly lit up with surprise. Corian was the third young master of the biggest noble house in the CityofNoNight. Arrogant, domineering, did whatever he wanted—but he was generous to his underlings. If you could cozy up to him, you’d never worry about food or clothes again.
Some people immediately put on fawning smiles.
“So it’s Third Master! I’ve heard so much about you!”
“That kid actually dared go against Third Master. Doesn’t know what’s good for him.”
Anyone with half a brain could see Corian wanted to “take” that little loli. Some people even knew he had a hobby of tormenting lolis. And with his massive influence, he’d been doing this kind of thing and still living comfortably.
You could tell he was practically untouchable in this city. And that young man, not knowing his place, stepped in for the little girl, which was basically a slap across Corian’s face. A loud, solid one.
Which meant Corian now had to keep his word and give the girl a thousand gold coins. A thousand gold was nothing to him, but losing face was.
“Brother, just give me some face. Return the buns to this little sister, take your gold back. Once it’s done, I’ll give you a hundred thousand gold.” Corian planted his hands on his hips, filthy rich and full of swagger. The kid didn’t look over twenty; a hundred thousand gold would definitely tempt him. A working youth might not make that much in three years. There were plenty of people who pulled stunts like this just to get nobles to notice them.
Gasps rippled through the crowd. A hundred thousand gold! If it were them, they’d do it in a heartbeat. Not only get rich, but also build a connection with a noble young master. Two birds with one stone.
They looked at Sky Qi with jealousy. Why did this kid get so lucky? If they’d known, they would’ve gone up to buy one too.
Sky Qi paused. A hundred thousand gold, just to make him hand the buns back? It was obvious what Corian wanted—to make things hard for the girl.
Plenty of noble brats had messed-up hobbies, but he hadn’t expected this one’s kink to be torturing lolis. Sky Qi, who’d always been pretty good with kids, was not okay with that.
He also hated being ordered around. Just some minor noble. Back when he held peak power on the continent, forget nobles—even kings, even an Infernal Dragon—were nothing to him. Wiping out a noble house was as easy as crushing an ant.
And getting into trouble just from buying a bun? Had to be that shit-tier luck of his acting up again. As for this noble young master liking lolis, that he could understand. When Sky Qi, wearing the mask, had accidentally brushed the blonde loli’s hand while taking the bun, his mana had started to drain.
Thankfully, once he put a bit of distance between them, the mana stopped leaking.
Sky Qi still looked perfectly at ease. Calmly, he shoved another bun into his mouth.
“Corian?” he said casually as he swallowed. “Never heard of you. And I don’t care to.”
“You. Are very bold.” Bloodshot veins crawled across Corian’s eyes. This guy was actually this arrogant.
He had people planted all over this night market. All it would take was a word from him, and this young man would be turned to dust.
“Don’t be ungrateful. I’m giving you face here, got it? Stop pretending you’re above it all. You still have a chance to walk this back.” Corian looked at him with open contempt. “Otherwise, you’ll find out exactly what happens to people who go against me.”
Dude, I’m literally just buying a bun. Do you really have to cling to me like this?
“Well, I’m really looking forward to seeing what trick you’ll use to make me disappear,” Sky Qi shot back, not backing down an inch.
Even with only B Rank strength right now, crushing this guy’s skull in a place like this would be child’s play.
Besides, what could this fat idiot even do to the little girl? Sky Qi let out a cold snort. There was no way this girl was as soft and delicate as she looked.
In his lust-crazed state, the fat pig clearly hadn’t thought it through: how could an ordinary little girl be the one turning Wolfen meat into bun filling?
A regular Wolfen could tear dozens of normal humans apart with ease. A Wolfen warrior could turn a crowd into a slaughterfield.
The meat inside this Wolfen bun was incredibly chewy, and it still held faint traces of magical energy. That meant the source had been at least a Wolfen war general, maybe higher.
The instant his gaze met the girl’s, he saw it—a feral beast caged in her eyes. No gentle, girlish softness, only steel and savagery.
And she was definitely older than she looked. To have that level of power at that apparent age… she’d already faintly surpassed his own past self. He could also tell that the aura coming off her was definitely not human.
If she wanted, she could probably crush every hidden noble guard in this night market without breaking a sweat. Even with some of his strength restored, Sky Qi wasn’t sure he could beat her.
So… should he just eat his buns and enjoy the show?
“Anyway, man, if you wanna hit on the little loli, that’s your business, I don’t care. But I’m really not interested in your hundred thousand gold.” Sky Qi scratched his head and casually tossed the empty bun bag onto the ground.
“You punk, you planning to play the hero and save the damsel?” Corian laughed wildly as he walked toward him. “Let me tell you, this place is crawling with my people. I’ll kill you right here, then kidnap the little loli.”
“And everything you did… will be completely meaningless.”
