In the end, Rollroll would rather be kicked by Coco a few times than bring out that green pot lid again. Coco frowned unhappily but then seemed to remember something. She fetched her homework from her room. "I almost forgot! You’ve been running off these days, so I haven’t done my homework. School starts tomorrow. Hurry up and finish it for me, Miss."
Rollroll quickly stood up, wagging its tail. Doing homework was easy—as long as it wasn’t tortured anymore.
Soon, a Husky lay sprawled on the floor, its paw fitted with a fixed pen, scribbling away.
Coco watched smugly as Rollroll wiggled its butt. "Hurry up! If you don’t finish before dinner, I won’t let my brother… the Servant feed you."
Rollroll worked even harder after hearing that.
But these simple problems were no issue for it. It even mimicked Coco’s handwriting and deliberately made a few mistakes to avoid suspicion from her teacher.
When Feng Ye brought fragrant fried meat patties and other dishes to the table, he saw his silly dog hunched over, scribbling furiously on the floor. Rollroll was already on the last page.
"Coco, why are you making Rollroll do your homework again?" Feng Ye said. "Didn’t I tell you to do it early?"
"Hmph, I wouldn’t bother with those low-level problems made by ordinary people."
So you’re saying your teacher’s problems are only fit for dogs to do?! If the teacher knew the truth, they’d cry instantly…
"Fine, it’s late this time. Let Rollroll help you, but no more next time," Feng Ye said helplessly.
"Okay," Coco replied, not taking it to heart. She was already drawn by the smell of her brother’s fried meat patties. Wearing her white rabbit slippers, she pitter-pattered to the dining table. Rollroll also smelled the meat, summoned all its strength, finished the last bit of homework, then dashed under the table. It grabbed its dog bowl and placed it on the table, tail wagging like a windshield wiper.
"Since you did my homework well, I’ll share the Servant’s meat patty with you," Coco said, taking the initiative to put a piece from her brother’s patty into Rollroll’s bowl. Rollroll grinned and barked, "Woof!"
"Don’t drool on the table!" Coco said disdainfully.
"Hey, shouldn’t you be eating dog food?" Feng Ye came out from the kitchen with the last dish, spotting Rollroll eating his meat patty. "Give me back my patty!"
Rollroll quickly stuck out its tongue and licked the entire patty.
Feng Ye, "...". He thought this dog might have something in common with Lin Chuan.
"Forget it."
Feng Ye wasn’t that petty. In fact, he’d made extra patties. Beside him, Coco was already eating, her cheeks stuffed with meat patty, clearly enjoying it.
Feng Ye decided not to tell her about the vegetables hidden inside. Otherwise, she’d feel betrayed by her favorite food.
"Rest a bit, then take a bath. School tomorrow, so go to bed early," Feng Ye said to Coco, who’d run off to watch TV again, while clearing the dishes.
Coco unhappily grunted, "Mm."
After putting away leftovers in the fridge, Feng Ye suddenly remembered he still had the Saint’s Heart on him. In cold storage, it could last a few more days. He stuffed it into a corner of the fridge. Though called the Saint’s Heart, it looked like a heart-shaped crystal.
If it were a bloody heart, he wouldn’t dare put it in—it’d scare Coco.

Driver Xiao Zhang found Lü Xiaodao just before dawn the next day. The latter was drowning his sorrows in a bar. Though crowded, the green pot lid on Lü Xiaodao’s head stood out like a lightbulb, impossible to miss.
Seeing Xiao Zhang approach, Lü Xiaodao wore a desolate expression. "You’re here."
He poured himself another drink and gulped it down.
"You’re drunk," Xiao Zhang said.
He’d come after a call from the bar owner. Lü Xiaodao had been drinking all night. Bottles piled up like a small mountain around him. If not for his Awakened physique, he’d have been hospitalized.
Still, the bar owner was scared—fearing a death and rumors of selling fake liquor. But after finding contact info in Lü Xiaodao’s jacket, he’d called Xiao Zhang.
"I’m not drunk," Lü Xiaodao shook his head, tossing a bottle to Xiao Zhang. "Since you’re here, drink with me."
Xiao Zhang sighed at Lü Xiaodao’s drunken state. "What happened? Aren’t you doing the boss’s task?"
"Task? Hah. My wife betrayed me. What’s the point of any task?" Lü Xiaodao said dejectedly.
Then he told Xiao Zhang about coming home yesterday to find his wife and neighbor Lao Wang in bed together.
He’d been so furious he almost had a heart attack. If not for his wife holding him back, he’d have thrown flying knives at Lao Wang. But Lao Wang didn’t escape unscathed—he was sent to the hospital with several knives in his butt.
"I don’t know what to do. My wife betrayed me. What’s the meaning of living?" Lü Xiaodao said with a bitter smile.
Xiao Zhang glanced at the pot lid on Lü Xiaodao’s head and shivered slightly. Could this lid not just embarrass, but actually turn one’s head green?
But I don’t even have a girlfriend, so even if this lid covers me, it shouldn’t matter, Xiao Zhang comforted himself. Looking at Lü Xiaodao’s dejected face, he hesitantly asked, "Do you still love your wife?"
Lü Xiaodao took a sip. "Of course I do. Why else would I marry her?"
"If you still love her, forgive her," Xiao Zhang said earnestly. "At least you have a wife. I don’t even have a girlfriend."
Lü Xiaodao thought, recalling past happiness, then gave a bitter smile. "But I still can’t accept it."
"But you still love her, right? There’s an old saying: if love has a color, it must be green."
Xiao Zhang said seriously, "If you forgive your wife, everything will be fine."
Lü Xiaodao slammed his glass. "You’ve never been betrayed by your wife! How do you know my pain!"
"But it’s not your fault, nor your wife’s," Xiao Zhang said.
"Are you saying the world is to blame?" Lü Xiaodao was so angry his nose twisted.
"No, it’s the dog’s fault," Xiao Zhang said. "Feel your head."
Lü Xiaodao’s face darkened. He reached up, and the stubborn green pot lid came off easily.
After removing it, he saw the lid start to vanish.
As Lü Xiaodao puzzled, Xiao Zhang silently brought a mirror. Seeing his reflection, Lü Xiaodao’s face contorted. Finally, a roar echoed in the bar: "Damn dog! If I don’t cook you into hotpot in this lifetime, I’ll change my name to Green Xiaodao!"
Unbeknownst to him, Lü Xiaodao’s hair had turned into a lush green meadow…
Meanwhile, Rollroll, panting with a sleepy face, crawled out of Coco’s bedroom to find water.
It was still dawn outside. Rollroll was thirsty after eating meat patties and a pound of dog food yesterday. It used its paw to open the fridge door, ready to grab a cold bottled water.
But then, in the dim fridge light, Rollroll spotted a palm-sized ice cube. Its dog eyes lit up. It stuck its head in, curled its tongue, swallowed the ice, and crunched it.
"Woof?" After crunching what it thought was ice, there was no coolness or thirst relief. Rollroll widened its eyes in confusion, thought strangely, glanced at the fridge again, then grabbed a bottled water. It closed the fridge, bit the cap off, held the bottle with its paws, and gulped down the water.
The strange thing it ate was quickly forgotten… Then it rolled back to Coco’s bedroom to sleep.
Since Coco was sleeping in Feng Ye’s bed, it didn’t worry about waking her.
Watching the faint dawn light, Rollroll yawned and slept again. Coco had an hour or two before school, so it could nap. After the little master woke up, there’d be no peace, Rollroll thought sadly. It decided to dream of its goddess, continuing what it hadn’t finished.
But after it fell asleep, it didn’t notice… Soon after lying down, its body emitted a faint glow…
