The Beast’s massive frame, combined with its sudden burst of terrifying speed, was truly imposing. The onlookers below gasped in unison. Girls couldn’t bear to watch—next to the Beast’s hulking body, Meteor looked as pitiful as a helpless little girl about to be crushed by a gross fat guy.
If that impact landed head-on, even Lord Meteor would’ve become a bloody mess. Many turned away, unable to stomach it.
“This guy’s so calm—he must have a trump card,” Feng Ye thought. Meteor wouldn’t fall that easily.
Just as he suspected, a starlight barrier blocked the Beast inches from Meteor. Its head slammed into the shield. The force left it dazed and spinning. It plummeted to the ground.
“This guy really has skills.”
Meteor watched the Beast fall, expressionless, as if he’d expected it. He raised a hand slowly, miming drawing a bow. Spirit Energy flared between his palms, coalescing into a black longbow. As he pulled the string, an arrow of pure energy formed. The bow arched like a full moon, its cold light spilling like moonbeams.
*Whoosh!*
Meteor released the arrow. It streaked down like a falling star, striking the Beast just as it scrambled up. The arrow exploded on contact. Violent Spirit Energy waves churned the air. The Beast screamed, its huge body blasted backward. It rolled dozens of meters down the street, carving a long scar into the asphalt.
“Wow!” The crowd gasped, stunned by Meteor’s attack.
The dazzling light and explosions were undeniably cool. Below, the battered Beast bled from its nose, a pathetic sight against the god-like man in the sky. Girls’ eyes sparkled with stars; some nearly fainted from excitement.
“Girls these days lack restraint,” Feng Ye mused. Still, he respected Meteor more now. Only someone exceptionally strong could crush an A-rank Beast with one shot.
The rest of the fight was brutal. Under Meteor’s overwhelming power, the Beast was pummeled nonstop. Light arrows rained from the sky, making it scream in agony. It curled up, shivering uncontrollably—terrified of Meteor’s arrows.
“Lord Meteor’s archery is flawless!” A blushing girl beside Feng Ye sighed. “I wish I were that Beast.”
“Crap.” Feng Ye rolled his eyes. The world never ceased to amaze.
After subduing the Beast, Meteor didn’t kill it. A massive truck rumbled in, carrying a custom ultra-alloy cage. Under his orders, workers used giant mechanical arms to load the Beast inside. The process was smooth—the terrified Beast, sedated by special drugs, barely struggled.
The crowd ignored how the Awakened handled the Beast. Some even snapped selfies with it. Feng Ye shook his head. Years ago, people would’ve fled screaming from a Beast attack. Now? They took selfies. Human adaptability was unreal.
“But why capture it alive? Extracting the War Spirit essence would’ve been simpler.” Feng Ye watched the truck rumble away, puzzled. “Bio-research on Beasts failed years ago, didn’t it?”
As Meteor left with the truck, the crowd dispersed. Feng Ye paused, remembering he’d meant to buy treats for Coco. He turned—and saw their favorite cake shop reduced to rubble from the battle.
“……”
“I’m back.” He hadn’t bought the treats, but he had no heart to linger outside.
Opening the door, a furry face filled the frame. A smug-looking dog pressed close, nearly blocking the entire doorway.
“Holy crap, Rollroll! When’d you get back? And when’d you grow this huge?” Feng Ye yelped. The silly dog stepped back, plopping onto its butt. Even seated, it stood nearly two meters tall.
“Hmph, Servant. Finally home.” Feng Ye spotted his sister standing atop Rollroll’s head, arms crossed, smirking down at him. “See how strong Rollroll’s gotten? Jealous?”
*Jealous?* Feng Ye thought. *Bigger isn’t stronger. I just saw a Beast twice Rollroll’s size get shot down by some freak. A target that big gets blown up in seconds.*
“Yeah, yeah.” He glared at Rollroll. “Shrink back now, or you’re paying for floor repairs.”
Rollroll gave him a pitiful look, then shrank rapidly.
Coco, perched triumphantly on its head, lost her balance as it shrank. She toppled headfirst. Feng Ye lunged, catching her mid-scream.
Coco trembled in his arms, wide-eyed. After a moment, she pouted. “Hmph, Servant. I’ll count this as you saving me.” She glared at Rollroll, wagging its tail innocently. “You stupid dog! Trying to kill your master?” She jumped down, ready to teach it a lesson—but Rollroll had already bolted into the room.
