16. Don't Tread Too Boldly in Life...

"Oh dear, little sister, no need to be so impatient. A proper lady shouldn't be so violent~"

The older sister settled onto a chair behind her, crossing her legs. "We're all Chinese. Why not sit down and chat nicely?"

*Thwip!*

A hole pierced through the older sister's neck.

"Don't wanna talk. Annoying."

Lixin waved a hand to leave.

"Tsk tsk, can't you just listen to your big sister~?" The woman was still alive. The wound on her neck slowly sealed as she sat up, that sickly smile still plastered on her face.

*Thwip!*

"Don't wanna listen. Annoying."

Lixin pierced her neck again.

"Oh dearie me~ Seems little sister refuses to play nice with big sister after all~"

This time, the older sister rose again—but her smile was gone. Only madness remained. Lixin felt the thick, murderous intent radiating from her.

A true psychopath.

"Whoa. What even *are* you? How are you still alive after this?"

Lixin was slightly impressed. The gravity manipulation earlier. Her claimed "x-ray vision." And now immortality—or extreme regeneration...

Just how many abilities did this woman have?

"Hehe... Guess it's settled then." The older sister vanished before Lixin's eyes. "Be a good girl and let big sister devour you~"

"Hey now, I may not be an expert..."

Lixin spun around, arm raised in defense. Something slammed against her guarded forearm an instant later.

"...but my combat instincts are pretty sharp." She lashed out with a whip kick—missing, but achieving her goal.

The older sister reappeared twenty meters to her side, her expression twisted.

"You're using Chris and Melly's powers together, aren't you?" A flicker of sharp intelligence cut through Lixin's usual deadpan stare. "You rushed to kill me *and* show off your strength. Too bad neither worked. Now I know you steal abilities."

She scratched her ear. "Your attitude shift proves something else: you never expected to fail stealing *my* power. You tried to analyze me, failed, and decided to eliminate me as a threat. Right?"

*Clap. Clap. Clap.*

The older sister applauded. "Clever girl. You're strong..." Her eyes burned with fanaticism again. "But can you defeat all five hundred fighters in this base?"

*Seriously? A chuunibyou?* Lixin's dead eyes rolled skyward.

*Whoosh—*

A fireball shot toward her unexpectedly. She blocked it easily.

"Useless. That power could fry an egg... Wait, I haven't had fried eggs in ages..."

Fireballs, lightning bolts, random elements, iron sheets ripped from walls, air bullets—all bombarded her at once.

"Uh... Your base must be *packed* with talents. Why waste them showing off? Keeping them alive would've boosted your defenses..."

*Swish-swish-swish—*

Countless black spears shattered every attack, impaling the older sister like a pincushion.

"I'll return that line, little sister~" Her shredded body reformed, holes sealing rapidly. "With extreme regeneration, do you really think you can kill me?"

"But your regeneration's suspiciously overpowered. Normally, instantly fatal wounds don't heal. You're burning other people's lives to fuel yours, aren't you?"

"............"

Silence confirmed it. The older sister teleported in front of Lixin, fist swinging.

*BOOM!*

"Whoa. Lucky dodge." Lixin eyed the crater in the wall behind her—and the furious woman. Laziness gave way to mischief. She *could* have ended this earlier. But why?

*Let's piss her off. After how smug she was? Yeah. Let's ruin her day.*

For anyone else, super-strength + teleportation + ranged attacks would be terrifying. Chris definitely couldn't handle it.

But Lixin just yawned, dodging or blocking with minimal effort. Goal: exhaust her opponent without breaking a sweat.

"RAAAAAGH—!"

Driven to the brink, the older sister began charging a massive attack—just like Qin Fan had—aiming to obliterate Lixin and the entire base.

"Oops. Overplayed it."

Getting blown up to annoy her wasn't worth it. Lixin flicked her wrist. A wall of Void Essence materialized, slamming the woman into the ceiling.

"Doesn't matter how many lives you have. I'll keep hitting until you stay dead."

Endless attacks rained down. The black tide swallowed her crimson figure. Spears vanished the moment they struck, preventing structural damage. Only the *thwip* of tearing air and the woman's masochistic shrieks filled the room.

After two minutes, the darkness cleared. What remained of the older sister was barely human-shaped. Lixin gagged slightly at the sight.

*Huff... huff... huff...*

Scattered limbs reassembled on the floor. After a minute, the older sister stood whole again.

*Pfft—*

Lixin's nose started bleeding. Because now the older sister was... *ahem*... completely naked.

"*Form is emptiness, form is emptiness...*"

Muttering under her breath, Lixin leveled a black spear at the woman's throat.

".................."

The older sister's arrogance had vanished. Only raw terror remained in her eyes.

"Huh. Guess you really can't respawn anymore. Even I'm impressed with that limit break."

Lixin wove Void Essence into a whip, coiling it around the woman's body. She tossed her toward an upper floor littered with corpses, then "flew" back to her teammates' level, sealing the escape route with dark energy.

"Stay put awhile. Your subordinates look hungry."

She walked to the unconscious Chris and Melly. Slapping Chris' face roused him easily—but Melly remained deeply out.

"Hey! Wake up! Time to go home!"

"Stop! You'll kill her!" Chris grabbed Lixin's arm.

"Then what? We need her to teleport us back."

Lixin pondered briefly. Then she crafted a tiny needle, knelt, and jabbed Melly's ribs.

"AAAAAAAH—!"

"See? Awake now." Lixin pried Melly's hands off her throat. "Quit strangling me. Send us back."

"Eh?" Melly blinked, disoriented.

"No 'eh.' Test your power. Now."

Melly closed her eyes. Vanished. Reappeared three seconds later. Grabbed Lixin with an evil grin.

"All set. Let me send *you* back first~"

This time, Lixin was the one going "*Eh?*" Her surroundings turned icy cold. Her breath caught mid-inhale.

"*Ghk...*" Thank goodness she'd been inhaling when the teleport triggered. That bastard Melly...

*She dumped me in water?!*
