Chapter 10: Breaking the Rules
update icon Updated at 2025/12/11 15:30:02

Not far away stood a girl with silky long hair and skin like porcelain. Her slender figure was accentuated by her ample chest rising and falling with each breath, and her long, elegant legs planted firmly on the floor. She radiated a beauty as pure and untouchable as a rainbow.

Yet this very beauty had almost no friends in class—not a single male one. It was hard to imagine in real life, but it unfolded right before Zhou Zhiyi’s eyes.

Zhou Zhiyi couldn’t help recalling what had happened with Liu Muyu not long ago…

That day, he’d been scolded by the teacher until late for reading manga in class. But that wasn’t the worst part—what really pissed him off was Wu Hang beside him getting off scot-free. He was reading too! Why was I the only one punished? Can’t they be fair?

The classroom still held a dim glow—some boarding students usually stayed for evening study…

But when Zhou Zhiyi entered, he realized things weren’t as simple as he’d thought.

The room was nearly empty, with only one person symbolically seated: the beautiful transfer student, Liu Muyu.

“Hey, was I really scolded that long? Even the boarding students are gone…” Zhou Zhiyi muttered, annoyed but hoping Liu Muyu would respond.

Liu Muyu had been here a week yet made no friends. The boys nicknamed her “Ice Beauty.” No one knew why she acted this way, but she didn’t seem to care, studying late every night.

Still, this was way too late… Zhou Zhiyi glanced at the pitch-black window, inwardly complaining.

Others didn’t know why Liu Muyu struggled to make friends, but Zhou Zhiyi thought he did. At least, he believed he knew.

She was probably like those manga girls—stunning but awkward, easy to win over once the male lead found an opening. She’d then open her heart solely to him.

So, she might possess a Fate Mark too.

Just as he thought this, the options appeared again.

Option 1: Leave the classroom immediately.

Option 2: Leave and say something caring.

Option 3: Suggest walking home together.

Option 4: Befriend her through conversation.

What a hassle… Why four options this time? This is tricky.

Leaving immediately is so lame.

Options two, three, and four could boost affection points.

Befriending her feels too rushed—nothing ever goes that smoothly.

I’ll go with option three, the middle ground.

Zhou Zhiyi made up his mind and walked over. His shoes tapped lightly on the floor, but in the empty classroom, the sound echoed loudly.

“Hey, you don’t have to push so hard. Taking a break wouldn’t hurt,” he said, gazing at her stunning profile. “How about heading home together?”

“Disgusting.”

Disgusting? Did I hear wrong?

“What did you say?”

“I said you’re disgusting,” Liu Muyu shot back bluntly. “You loaf around all day, grinning like an idiot. People like you sicken me.”

Why? Girl, I don’t recall offending you!

“Now I get why you have no friends. You should fix that sharp tongue.”

“But you being disgusting is a fact.”

“Everyone lives differently, right?”

“That’s exactly why I hate people like you,” Liu Muyu said with disgust. “Leave my sight, please.”

“Hey, what did I even do to you?”

“Nothing. Just pure disgust.”

This person really has issues. But why am I the one yelled at?

“Fine. Goodbye, sharp-tongued girl.”

Zhou Zhiyi turned and left without looking back. He feared staying longer would make him lose control—he refused to yell at a woman, especially a pretty one.

But she’d gone too far.

Later, Zhou Zhiyi partly understood why he’d been scolded. Maybe he’d overstepped his role as a side character.
