28. Is Someone Courting Death?

Rebecca had countless glories in the dark world. Thanks to her adult mind, modern thinking, and rigorous logic, she avoided unnecessary mistakes with this world’s cultivation methods—mistakes born of youth and immature thoughts. You could say her path was a straight line… no, a straight sprint! She inherited her past life’s wisdom and the formidable genes of her Dark Lord parents.

But later, Rebecca got sidetracked. Dwelling on her past life and researching Demon Potions, her cultivation halted. Still, her strength remained formidable! Golago, the Goblin King who gave humans endless headaches, was no match for her. So… facing Hobi Academy students, Rebecca was a wolf among sheep… wait, no—a tiger! She wasn’t a pervert… ah, I mean… a wolf…

Besides, Rebecca came to the human world solely for the Alchemy Codex. She had no time for some ability test. But faced with girls who saw her as a feeble, powerless lady, she couldn’t refuse outright. Better to delay it. She used the excuse that class was about to start, pushing it to next time.

Yep, that feast celebrating her enrollment lasted long, with endless chatting. Lunch break slipped away unnoticed. Everyone agreed—the test could wait; it wasn’t urgent.

So, everyone headed to their classrooms. Carina wanted to visit Rebecca’s room, but Rebecca refused, citing the imminent class start. She’d finally found such a great class—no way she’d leave~

Sigh, who knew what Professor Monise would think when she learned Rebecca actually loved being placed in this troubled class as a “punishment”? But Rebecca knew discovery was inevitable. Still, better to delay it day by day.

Back at the troubled class door, Rebecca heard voices inside. Unlike the morning’s rowdy chaos, students now chatted normally. When she entered, everyone froze mid-sentence. They stared blankly at her, then quickly looked away, busying themselves while lowering their voices.

“Who is she really? Would a Norna Faith nun hit people so rudely?”

“Dunno, but her bearing screams nobility. And she’s gorgeous…”

“Nobility? Which house? Bearing? What noble lady hits like that?”

“Why can’t noble ladies fight? Everyone here’s noble! How many brawls have we had?”

“True…”

Unlike that morning’s terrified silence, the kids had loosened up after Rebecca just kept her head down reading. Seeing her ignore their whispers, they breathed sighs of relief and quietly debated her identity.

Rebecca didn’t care at first. But her sharp hearing caught every word about herself—it was too distracting. She couldn’t hold back anymore.

Slam! She slammed the desk and growled, “Quiet!”

Gasp… Everyone jumped. They stared at her, trembling, scared she’d lash out.

Terrifying—Rebecca was a girl! Not that girls like her were inherently scary, but as a female, the class girls feared she’d beat them. A delinquent boy? Fine—he’d only brawl with boys. But Rebecca, being a girl, could totally punch another girl. Though… she’d never hit one, her classmates didn’t know that. So boys and girls alike feared her.

The classroom fell silent under Rebecca’s fierce display. This class, noisy from semester start to end, was eerily quiet all day. Every teacher who entered felt strange…

“Huh? Really? I thought they were joking. What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?” A new teacher arrived—a bushy-bearded, jovial man in casual attire, unlike the robed scholars before. He’d heard about the class’s weirdness and gaped in surprise.

“Come on, move out! Follow me~” He waved and led the way.

Huh? Outdoors? PE class? Rebecca froze but didn’t dwell. A girl in front stood to leave.

“Going out… for what?” Rebecca asked.

“Uh…” The girl turned, saw Rebecca holding her back, and genuinely jumped. Her whole body trembled at the sight.

“Hm?”

“Free activity, but… Hobi Academy holds physical fitness competitions at semester start…” The girl stammered, trembling, scared her answer would displease Rebecca.

Rebecca saw her fear, patted her shoulder, and said, “Girls… I don’t hit…”

“Uh… re-really?” The girl’s eyes widened in shock.

“Mm.” Rebecca nodded, ignored her, sat down, and resumed reading. She wasn’t going out.

The girl stared blankly but dared not speak. She silently slipped out.

At the door, the playground…

“Line up! Noble lords and ladies!” the teacher boomed.

“Teacher Noko, you’re aging me!” a girl complained.

“Alright, alright! Young nobles! Line up properly! None of you can use magic. Good fitness might save your lives in danger! This is for you, not me! Ugh—line up! Didn’t we just arrange this? Forgotten already? Sigh…” Teacher Noko rubbed his temples at the messy group.

“Teacher! One’s missing—she’s still in class!” someone shouted.

“Hm? Who’s still inside?”
