Golago, the world's strongest and smartest Goblin, swiftly bought all Demon Potion equipment and herbs from the city without delay. Once everything was ready, Rebecca headed to the mountainside far from Rucadan to brew the potion.
Dusk was falling, time was tight. Luckily, the hair-and-eye-color-changing potion brewed quickly. Rebecca, familiar with the steps, finished it in no time.
"Hide these somewhere safe," Rebecca instructed. With ample materials, she'd brewed plenty of Demon Potion. Earlier, Golago had bought small bottles. She filled them, kept one, and handed the rest to Golago. His method was simple: as Goblin King, he commanded Goblins worldwide. Storing potions with them was safest. Higher-species dominance ensured low-level Goblins pledged absolute loyalty—no leaks, only rare losses. Ironically, dark-world beings rarely lied or betrayed due to hierarchy. Quite the irony for self-righteous humans.
"I will guard them with my life!" Golago declared solemnly.
"It's not valuable. Losing it's no big deal. Why so serious?" Rebecca said, drinking the foul potion.
Ugh, the taste was still awful. Magic surged through her, clear and strong. Unlike her first drowsy reaction, she now consciously guided the energy to stay awake. Back then, her unguarded body let the potion take full effect. Truth was, a Demon Race member could resist it—if they chose to. But without resistance, it worked.
Slowly, Rebecca's hair turned golden again. Her red eyes shifted to lovely emerald green.
"Hmm, perfect. Just need to sleep it off now~" Rebecca murmured, satisfied with her ice-mirror reflection. She glanced at the darkening sky and frowned. "Way too late. Gotta hurry back." She destroyed the equipment, erased all traces, and flew toward Rucadan.
Rebecca moved fast. At Rucadan's gate, seeing it still open, she chose to walk in. This was Kasmo Empire's capital. She knew her strength, but she'd witnessed human elites—like the Sword Saint of Wind, now in the Dark Lord's palace. Rucadan surely had powerful guardians. She couldn't risk flying in; unleashing power might alert them. Not that they were stronger—just perceptive enough to detect her flight.
Yet the gate was heavily guarded. People queued for soldier inspections, entering and exiting.
Rebecca paused. What trouble happened in the city? Why such strictness? She waited patiently, wanting no fuss.
Soon, it was her turn.
"Hood off!" a soldier pointed at her robe's hood.
Rebecca wore it to avoid attention from her striking looks, but she didn't hide her face. To prevent trouble, she complied and removed it.
The stern soldier froze instantly.
"Can I... go in?" Rebecca asked impatiently. She knew she was beautiful, but being ogled annoyed her.
"Uh..." He snapped back, then grabbed a scroll he'd been checking against passersby. Earlier, Rebecca had seen soldiers comparing faces to it—likely hunting a fugitive. Now he stared at her, then the scroll, then at Golago beside her.
Rebecca stiffened. Am I a wanted criminal?
"Captain! Captain! The Duke's granddaughter is found! Hahaha~ Gold coins~ Gold coins~ Here I come~" The soldier whooped wildly.
"Uh..." Rebecca stood stunned. The crowd stirred—partly from the chaos, partly from her beauty.
"The Duke's granddaughter?" A captain rushed over, comparing Rebecca to the scroll's portrait. She stepped closer and saw it: well-drawn, somewhat accurate. But she doubted they recognized her from it. Golago's portrait beside hers gave it away—his forehead's flame-shaped magic tattoo was too distinctive.
Rebecca wasn't naive. She realized her cheap grandfather had discovered she wasn't at Hobi Library as she'd told the servants—and started searching.
Ugh, this is terrible!
"Protect Miss Rebecca!" The captain didn't join the celebration. He charged forward, shouting orders.
Guards sensed the unrest and quickly isolated Rebecca from the crowd.
"This is utterly terrible!" Rebecca grumbled inwardly. Yet this revealed a sliver of the Ruta Family's power...
How long had she been gone? Less than a day? Yet they mobilized the capital's defenses to find her. Incredible! Only the royal family could command city guards like this outside emergencies.
