Interlude Four: Reunion and Battle

While Lem and his group rushed toward the fortress, Selena battled a Tearmarked Ghoul in a shadowy town corner.

The Tearmarked Ghoul was a newly discovered Corpse Eater subspecies. Though human-sized, it differed from lumbering Corpse Eaters. It moved with unnatural agility, ambushing unguarded prey from darkness like a true assassin.

Several such ghouls had slipped past the walls unnoticed. They exploited the gap while the army fought the Corpse Eater horde upfront and the fortress lost its defenses. Now, they hunted humans freely in town. One targeted Selena as she moved north through dim alleys.

The Tearmarked Ghoul lunged down from above, claws silently aimed at Selena’s throat. But inheriting her hunter body’s reflexes, Selena sensed the ambush at the last moment. She arched backward, locking eyes with the descending ghoul. Then, in a flash, she dipped her head—barely dodging the strike.

The claws missed her throat by a hair’s breadth, whiffing completely.

Selena flowed into a yoga bridge pose, hands touching the ground. Her hips thrust upward, legs springing like a coiled spring. Her lithe body shot up, firm breasts swaying like water-blooming flowers.

Immediately, she raised her long, toned right leg high. Muscles tensed, she kicked fiercely—slamming the ghoul mid-descent. It crashed to the ground behind her.

Selena flipped backward in a somersault, twisting her slender waist to balance. She landed firmly, spear aimed at the ghoul.

"This body," she murmured in surprise, watching her ample chest tremble slightly, "with such heavy breasts, still pulls off moves like that?"

The kicked ghoul charged back at superhuman speed. Selena dodged narrowly, jabbing her spear tip at it. Unexpectedly, the enraged ghoul didn’t flinch. It took her strike head-on, then raked its claws—piercing her shoulder.

Unfazed, Selena leaned close, locking eyes with the human-sized creature. Her violet pupils glowed with sinister charm. She pressed her soft lips to its dry mouth.

"Ugh, so foul!" She kicked it away instantly, covering her nose.

The Tearmarked Ghoul now knelt, enslaved by her Succubus kiss.

Selena sheathed her weapon confidently. Standing defenseless before it, arms crossed, her bouncy breasts jiggled forward—making her bosom look fuller. She leaned in, smooth hips tilting back seductively.

"You seem strong, frenzied ghoul," she commanded. "Kneel before me."

At her words, the ghoul that had tried to kill her obeyed instantly.

Satisfied, Selena nodded. She gently pulled the embedded claw from her shoulder. Pain flared as blood welled anew.

"This body clots so slowly," she thought while tending the wound.

"{Propagation - Blessing of the Mother of the Black Goat} failed to load onto Subject: Selena for the forty-first time."

"{Propagation - Blessing of the Mother of the Black Goat} failed to load onto Subject: Selena for the forty-second time."

The voice droned on in her mind, shattering her focus for charm magic. Only bloodlust filled her now. "Fine—I’ll sate this first." She abandoned staunching the wound, ordering the ghoul closer. "You. Come here."

The ghoul shuffled forward. But before it reached her, hundreds of light-arrows flooded the alley—raining down like the Orionid meteor shower.

Selena twisted her alluring body, dodging the deadly shower. She commanded the ghoul to shield her. Arrows still pierced her flesh, leaving wounds that bled slowly.

"Damn you, demon commanding Corpse Eaters! Who are you?" A maid-clad woman appeared at the alley mouth, cross-shaped Magic Tool raised.

That artificial meteor shower was Elaina’s "Daylight Meteor"—fueled by over two-thirds of her mana.

Caught off guard, Selena had avoided fatal hits with hunter agility. But arrow wounds covered her body, blood seeping steadily from slow-clotting flesh. Weakness crept in, yet she yanked out the arrows. Spear raised, she lunged—moving like teleportation. In a blink, she stood before the maid. Her blood-red spear flashed, striking like a viper at Elaina.

Elaina froze, stunned her full-power attack failed. Too slow to dodge, Selena’s spear pierced her soft shoulder.

Selena yanked it out, thrusting again for Elaina’s heart.

Marn rushed in, spear blocking the killing blow. Selena kicked him back, creating distance from two new figures.

Behind the maid stood two burly hunters with spears. One was familiar—though twenty-three years had passed, Selena recognized him instantly. He was the child her body’s original owner died protecting: her son, Lem.

"You’ve grown so much, Lem."

Selena twirled her red spear, voice thick with nostalgia. Moonlight bathed her graceful form, illuminating her lovely face. She smiled faintly, greeting the hunter Lem with seductive warmth.
