He Yucheng wandered through the market streets of Radiant Imperial City with Lengjiang.
At this hour, he should've been out grinding levels. But now, outside the city, it was packed with people from the Butterfly Shadow guild alliance. The moment He Yucheng left the city, he'd be doomed.
But if he didn't grind, he had nothing to do. Lengjiang was in the same situation. Rather than sit there watching the enemy flash their blades around, they might as well stroll around and check out systems in the game He Yucheng hadn't experienced yet.
The market was bustling, packed with carts and crowds. Rows of merchant players had set up stalls here, and plenty of others were wandering around just like them. It was obviously just a game, yet it still gave off that Along the River During Qingming Festival vibe.
"Wifey, want anything?" He Yucheng had sold off those fashion-crafting materials and made quite a bit of money.
After all, he was wearing the server-limited Moonlit Blossom Blaze outfit. That set was enough to last him until the game shut down.
As for fashion weapons, there was even less to say. He Yucheng's Stellar Guardian had been made to his own taste from the start. Just like his outfit, there was no need to make a second one.
"ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ Pretty clothes!" Lengjiang blurted it out without the slightest hesitation.
He Yucheng had no idea how many outfits were already in Lengjiang's wardrobe. Usually, when he was out doing quests, she'd pull out a little camera and snap away in scenic spots. Though most of the time, she still wore Moonlit Blossom Blaze, that pink-and-white kimono.
Maybe she kept changing outfits to match the scenery.
"Mm... you've probably already maxed out your wardrobe storage..." He Yucheng wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
For now, this game didn't have a custom-made feature for fashion outfits like it did for fashion weapons. And Lengjiang had already collected most of the outfits in the game. As for the ones she didn't have... He Yucheng genuinely couldn't think of any set she was missing.
The two of them walked hand in hand, squeezed into the crowd. Whenever they saw a stall name that looked interesting, they'd go over and take a look.
"Hm?" In a relatively secluded corner, He Yucheng spotted a stall with the words "Various Snacks" written on it.
Snacks? This game could actually let you eat things?
Curious, He Yucheng walked over. Behind him, Lengjiang was still excitedly looking at all the stalls. Maybe liking to shop really was a girl's natural instinct.
"Ice cream... cotton candy?" He Yucheng opened the stall menu. Inside were all kinds of common street snacks: cake, ice cream, cotton candy, and more.
"What are these even for..." He Yucheng wiped at his sweat.
The only thing he could think of was consumables that gave buffs, HP potions, or MP potions.
If they were buff items, that seemed more likely. Because HP and MP potions really did just use herb icons.
He Yucheng curiously checked the detailed description of the items. It read: Social item. Disappears immediately after use.
"..."
Social... item?
What kind of high-level move was this?
Could it be... feeding play?
He Yucheng turned to look at Lengjiang behind him, who was practically leaving afterimages from how fast she was browsing stalls.
Feeding this little one...
Wouldn't that be pretty fun?
Still, he didn't know the exact effect. He'd never used it before. There were a lot of interaction systems he never had the spare energy to try. But now that he finally had time...
These foods were cheap, so He Yucheng bought a few. Then he discovered they actually had a time limit...
...
Was that because the ice cream would melt?
Or was it a shelf life?
Kind of interesting...
He Yucheng didn't know whether to laugh or cry. These interaction items had even added real-world mechanics. Wasn't that a bit too much?
He Yucheng bought ice cream, small cakes, and cotton candy. Mostly out of curiosity. Then he waved at the slightly floaty Lengjiang.
Lengjiang stopped, puffed out her cheeks, and said to He Yucheng in dissatisfaction, "(╥╯^╰╥) Hubby, there aren't any outfits Baby likes~"
He Yucheng gave an awkward smile. For someone like Lengjiang, a hardcore outfit collector who also seemed to come from a pretty well-off family, buying out every outfit in the game wasn't impossible at all. As for how many outfits the game currently had, He Yucheng had never paid attention, so he had no clue.
"Wifey, wanna go find somewhere quieter?" He Yucheng asked tentatively. He didn't take out the snacks he'd just bought.
Lengjiang put one little hand under her chin, and a question mark popped over her head.
He Yucheng smiled. "Relax, it's not like we're doing anything bad. I bought something nice just now. Wanna try it."
"(*/ω\*) Mm~" Lengjiang gave the countless stall names behind her a reluctant glance, but still agreed.
Where should they go?
As He Yucheng led Lengjiang out of the crowd, he thought it over.
That garden from earlier seemed pretty nice.
He Yucheng thought of that poetic garden. It really was a good scenic spot. It was spacious, and although there were plenty of people there enjoying the view, they wouldn't be bothered at all.
So He Yucheng brought Lengjiang back to the Han Residence's rear garden. Flowers bloomed everywhere in dazzling abundance. Sadly, they weren't really lying in a sea of flowers. If they were, it would've been even more romantic. He wondered if this game had a map like that.
"Wifey, want something to eat?" It had only just passed lunchtime, so asking that in a game felt a little funny.
"(o°ω°o) Eh?" Sure enough, Lengjiang froze for a moment. After all, He Yucheng knew she'd just eaten.
Was Hubby going to treat her to a meal? But how? Uchu...
Steam suddenly puffed up over Lengjiang's head. He Yucheng had long known she'd misunderstand, but before he explained it clearly, saying it out loud really was awkward...
"Uh... wifey, I don't mean anything else by it. I'm just treating you to cotton candy... aha... ahahaha..." He Yucheng was extremely embarrassed. He gave a dumb laugh while trying hard to find where the feeding interaction function was.
"Σ( ° △ °|||) Eh... eh?! N-no need~ Sister Cotton Candy buys me that all the time."
The steam over Lengjiang's head got even stronger.
"Ah... is that so? Then what about ice cream?" He Yucheng paused, thinking maybe these things had some special effect if Xiaoye kept buying them for Lengjiang.
Lengjiang panicked a little after hearing that. "Σ( ° △ °|||) Hubby, there's really no need for you to send Baby that kind of thing... it might be really far, and it'd be tiring."
Oh no...
Could Hubby really be coming over...
Lengjiang was nervous, but even more than that, she felt a strange sense of anticipation.
"Far?" He Yucheng froze again. Were they not on the same wavelength?
"o(;>△△<)o Mhm!" Lengjiang nodded again and again. He Yucheng had already figured it out. She still hadn't.
"Mm..." He Yucheng finally found the interaction function. So it had been hidden in the menu bar for the selected target all along...
"Here, silly wifey." He Yucheng burst out laughing and took out a huge stick of cotton candy, handing it to Lengjiang.
"Σ( ° △ °|||) Eh?" Lengjiang went blank. She stared at the giant cotton candy in his hand, then subconsciously reached out and took it.
"(*/ω\*) Uchu..." Lengjiang felt so embarrassed. She held up the fluffy ball of cotton candy to cover her face, almost burying her whole head in it.
He Yucheng rested his hand on the stone table and watched the shy Lengjiang with a grin. "It's nothing. Want to try it?"
Even if you couldn't really taste anything in-game, and besides, it wasn't like He Yucheng himself was the one tasting it. He just thought feeding Lengjiang would be fun.
Lengjiang's little face was bright red. She stuck out her tongue and licked a tiny bite, like a kitten eating. One little lick, then another...
The action was probably system-fixed, but with Lengjiang's cute face and that adorable motion...
That was way too unfair!
" ̄ω ̄= Hubby should eat something too, right?" Lengjiang saw He Yucheng staring at her the whole time and shrank back even more shyly.
"Hm? No need. Isn't watching my cute wifey enough?" He Yucheng propped up his chin and kept looking at Lengjiang with endless delight, speaking lazily.
"(๑╹◡╹)ノ\"\"\" Gu... no fair... Hubby, then how about giving Baby the ice cream?" Even the tips of Lengjiang's ears had turned red. To escape her embarrassment, she suddenly had an idea.
"Hm?" He Yucheng rummaged through his bag and handed the ice cream to Lengjiang.
Lengjiang held the ice cream in one hand and the cotton candy in the other. Then she revealed a sly smile and offered the ice cream to He Yucheng.
"(≖ᴗ≖)✧ Please have some ice cream, Hubby~"
He Yucheng couldn't help laughing as he watched Lengjiang hold the ice cream out to him. This girl was just too adorable.
He Yucheng took the ice cream from Lengjiang and had a small bite. It wasn't the same as actually tasting these things in the real world, but just looking at the realistic food made it feel like he really was eating it.
Sweet.
...
"Wifey, ahhh—"
"(⁎˃ᴗ˂⁎) Ahhh—mgh~"
He Yucheng held a small spoon in his hand. A box of little cake sat on the stone table. He scooped up a spoonful and fed it to Lengjiang, who put on a deeply satisfied expression.
"(#^.^#)"
He Yucheng fed Lengjiang spoonful after spoonful until the cake was gone. Then he took out a wet wipe and gently wiped the cream stuck to her face.
Even if it was just a game, He Yucheng was completely immersed in this feeding game and enjoying himself immensely.
Passersby nearby all recognized He Yucheng. They only stared at them for a while with envy, jealousy, and resentment before hurrying off. These days, PDA damage was expensive.
On a wall somewhere in the garden, two figures were crouched there sneakily—
Recomposed Words and Moonshadow.
The beams shooting out of Recomposed Words' eyes looked ready to slice He Yucheng into micron-sized pieces at any second. "Brother Moonshadow, I've got the urge to charge over there."
Moonshadow glanced at Recomposed Words and burst out laughing. "Hahaha, Brother Zuyan, hold it in. Or what, you wanna go find one too?"
"Ah, forget it, forget it. Considering the situation he's in right now, I'll let him off." Recomposed Words suddenly sighed and gave up.
"Hm? What situation?" Moonshadow looked baffled.
"Nothing. C'mon, let's go run a dungeon." Recomposed Words jumped down from the wall and said to Moonshadow.
"Alrighty, let's go!"
