Chapter 17: Leng Jiang's Fury, Dire Cons
update icon Updated at 2025/12/16 16:00:02

He Yucheng stared in shock as Lengjiang slowly stepped forward. A trace of anger flickered across her tiny face. The surrounding "guards" seemed hesitant to use barrage skills, fearing they might hit her. Instead, they closed in to deal with He Yucheng up close.

Though Licou had teased Lengjiang earlier without intending real hostility, the man was deeply calculating. His attempt to recruit her despite having a girlfriend spoke volumes.

He Yucheng was still weighing his options when Lengjiang sprang into action!

Her staff tip glowed, launching a medium-sized fireball. It moved slowly—but was this her declaration of war against these guilds?!

He Yucheng hesitated to stop her. She meant well. Blocking her help would seem ungrateful… especially from someone as introverted as Lengjiang. Rejecting her aid might crush her spirit.

He shook his head with a wry smile. *It’s just a game. Why take things so seriously?* If this made Lengjiang happy, so be it!

He wondered when she’d learned offensive skills. She’d once admitted her aim was terrible. Why waste skill points on such a basic fireball?

Licou watched her with open scorn. Her rejection had turned her into an enemy in his eyes—a accomplice.

Everyone knew Lengjiang’s sister was Xiaoye. The two roamed Eternal Night City alone, guildless and without backing. Taking on a top-ranked guild was impossible.

If Lengjiang defied them, he’d add her to the "Wanted List" without hesitation.

Lengjiang wasn’t naive. Even without game knowledge, Licou’s smug expression revealed his thoughts.

After firing the fireball, she chanted a teleportation spell—vanishing and reappearing directly in its path! The fireball hurtled toward her!

"Wife?!" He Yucheng gasped. This was playing with fire!

" ̄へ ̄ Don’t worry, Husband!" Lengjiang’s voice was sweet, but her fury was deadly serious.

Licou burst out laughing, his sneer deepening at her "stupid" move.

Lengjiang sidestepped left. Her hands thrust forward—a translucent air wall materialized. The fireball struck it and *split*!

One fragment flew toward her. The other ricocheted like light off a mirror!

Before the new fireball reached her, she teleported again. Another air wall flared. *Split!* Now three fireballs swirled.

She repeated the motion—teleport, air wall, split—over and over.

Infinite teleports.

Infinite air walls.

Infinite fireball splits!

Skill icons flashed above her head. Her teleport circles and "Replicate" air walls had no cooldown, cycling endlessly under her fingers.

Within seconds, twenty fireballs orbited them. Then thirty. Lengjiang kept multiplying them.

Licou’s face darkened. "Exclusive Skill!" he hissed.

Exclusive Skills were ultra-rare bonuses from cosmetic weapons—far rarer than stat boosts. Lengjiang’s air wall was her staff’s unique ability: **Replicate**.

Her fingers flew. Icons flickered—just two repeating buttons—but her camera spun wildly to aim each air wall. She split 2-3 fireballs *per second*. Her view must have rotated over 360 degrees.

The guards closed in after ten seconds. By then, fifty fireballs filled the air.

They moved slowly, but their sheer density created a chaotic, shifting barrier.

The guards paled. They drew weapons, charged, and unleashed tidal waves of ripples—forty high-intensity **Drawn Blade Slashes**! It looked like a flood surging forward.

Their plan? Cancel the fireballs with sword waves.

What happened next stunned everyone except Lengjiang.

The sword waves shattered against the fireballs like eggs on stone. Not a flicker of flame dimmed.

*Forty high-intensity Drawn Blade Slashes couldn’t destroy one basic fireball?!*

*Hack? Bug?*

Everyone’s game knowledge shattered in that instant. No skill was supposed to withstand that barrage.

He Yucheng checked the fireball perimeter—thirty meters wide. Then he spotted a figure charging through the flames toward them!

"Wife, that’s enough. Use your **Advanced Teleport Array** alone. I’ll fight my way out," he said, his four blades circling the light orb at his side. He watched the shadow weaving through fireballs behind him.

Lengjiang summoned over sixty fireballs before hopping back to his side. She gave a quiet "Mhm." Flames engulfed them, but she noticed the figure closing in behind He Yucheng.

"[・_・] Husband! Look!" She pointed a tiny finger.

He Yucheng smiled, taking her hand. He turned calmly. "Thanks, Wife. Leave the rest to your Husband. Go first. I’ll follow."

Blue light flared along his weapon. Lengjiang bit her lip—her opponent was a top 100 PVP player! He Yucheng’s average skills couldn’t match that rank. Unfinished skill trees, gear gaps… his win rate was near zero.

"Just covering your escape. I’ll leave right after you," he said, glancing back at her frozen form. He grinned.

"(〃>_<;〃) Promise? Pinky swear…" She held out her pinky. He sighed, then hooked his finger with hers.

Only then did Lengjiang shuffle behind him, beginning to draw a teleportation rune.

Large teleports required long chants. Seeing the fire wall impenetrable, guards soared skyward using **Skyward Skills**, climbing to bypass the flames.

As teammates, He Yucheng and Lengjiang were immune to each other’s fireballs. The inferno formed a protective ring—not because gaps didn’t exist, but because even a few hits would cause noticeable HP drain for anyone less agile.

Lengjiang chanted behind the fiery shield. He Yucheng watched the figure darting through flames.

He glanced back. Her rune was half-drawn. *Just stall Licou until she escapes. Then I’ll use her fireballs to break out.*

The figure burst through the fire curtain—a spear thrust at He Yucheng’s throat!

He Yucheng countered with a low-intensity **Drawn Blade Slash**. Blades clashed. They dodged with **Displacement Skills**, angling for side or back attacks to break each other’s **Invincibility** frames.

After a flurry of sparks, neither gained ground. He Yucheng’s maxed low-tier skills had short cooldowns—he barely held on.

Crucially, Licou’s **UltimateArt** was on cooldown. That skill decided battles—but its long downtime gave He Yucheng a sliver of hope. Not for long, though…

Seeing He Yucheng was tougher than expected, Licou’s gaze snapped to the immobile Lengjiang.

*She helped contest the boss too. Eliminate all enemies of our guild.*

Licou slammed He Yucheng away with a final strike, then lunged at Lengjiang. His spear aimed for her startled face!

Large teleports couldn’t be interrupted. Lengjiang squeezed her eyes shut, awaiting death…

*Ding!*

He Yucheng had already used **Charged Thrust** earlier. But hiding it now was pointless.

*A real man never lets a lady take the hit.*

*Especially not a cute loli like her.*

He activated **Mirror Image Charged Thrust**, appearing behind Licou. As the spear tip neared Lengjiang’s skull—*whoosh!*—He Yucheng’s **Upper Cut** sent Licou flying upward!

"Cosmetic weapon!" Licou snarled. As a top 100 PVP player, he knew every cooldown. He Yucheng’s **Charged Thrust** should’ve been locked—but the **Mirror Image** combo worked anyway. Only a cosmetic weapon could bypass that.

Licou triggered **Forced Break**, thrusting to interrupt Lengjiang’s teleport. Too late. Her rune finished. She vanished. His spear stabbed empty air.

"Tch…" He Yucheng’s eyes turned icy. Licou’s **Invincibility** had ended during their clash. No skills left to dodge. He Yucheng slammed him into stun-lock.

But He Yucheng had no time to press the advantage. The guards had circled the fire wall. They descended from the sky, blades drawn, converging on him.

He Yucheng checked his skills. Charged Thrust’s cooldown was up. He delayed a few moments—just as the guards’ attacks nearly hit him—then activated Invincibility. With a final slap, he sent Li Chou flying like a badminton shuttlecock. Spinning around, he recklessly charged into the crowd with Charged Thrust. Stunned by hits, he triggered Forced Break to regain invincibility. Then, leveraging Stellar Guardian’s special bonus—Mirror Image Charged Thrust—he escaped into the fireball cluster.

Coincidentally, the fireballs had reached their maximum range and began dissipating one by one.

Nothing could stop He Yucheng now. The fireballs had scattered the guards’ formation; no one guarded the perimeter. He slipped away untouched.

Li Chou crashed hard onto the ground after being slapped away. Slowly, he pushed himself up. Veins bulged across his face. He’d gambled wrong this time, letting He Yucheng exploit that combo gap.

A top 100 PvP player like him—robbed of a boss by a newbie who’d played less than a week! Even worse, he’d been juggled mid-air like a shuttlecock!

This humiliation would be repaid tenfold.

The guards had thought He Yucheng was suicidal. To their surprise, he actually had skill. But now, their alliance elder’s disgrace mattered more. He Yucheng’s gaming life would turn hellish.

“Find He Yucheng! Seal off Eternal Night City! That bastard’s leveling here. Rotate shifts farming every monster around it—leave none alive! I’ll make sure he can’t kill a single mob or gain a level!”

World Channel:

He Yucheng: [Video]

Some guards clicked the video. Seeing He Yucheng utterly dominate Li Chou, they closed it—but their faces twisted oddly.

The World Channel erupted again. Players glanced at Li Chou, frozen in place. No guess needed: he wanted He Yucheng torn limb from limb.

Barging into the battlefield before all those guards, he’d nearly wiped out the raid team. As captain and a top 100 PvP player, he’d been pressured by a newbie—who stole the loot and escaped cleanly.

It wasn’t just his pride. His entire guild alliance’s reputation lay in ruins.
