Chapter 13: The Crash
update icon Updated at 2025/12/11 18:30:02

It wasn’t a modified sedan, so its performance couldn’t match those six-figure motorcycles. Even with Mirror October flooring the gas pedal, he was quickly overtaken by whooping motorcycle riders. Of course, he wasn’t fleeing—this was just a necessary step in the game.

An Yi had likely dismissed the game notice as a prank long ago. Yet this didn’t touch Mirror October’s heart: hopeful yet never valuing hope. He expected, yet expected nothing. His ego and superego clashed within.

“Brothers! Block that car! I’ll smash it myself today!!” The street racers whistled, steel pipes and chains in hand. Like wolves answering their alpha, they lunged at the prey!

Soon, the harmless sedan was skillfully boxed in by motorcycles from all sides. They whooped and roared! Chains lashed the windows; steel pipes slammed into the car again and again. One fierce strike sent glass shards flying onto Mirror October’s face…

These people… these people…

They truly believed everything was their due—others’ tolerance, their own rule-breaking. Mirror October gazed out with utter indifference at the twisted faces. His mocking smile deepened.

Look well, Mirror October. This is the world you once saved. These are the people you risked your life to protect. How tragic! This is why I (Justice) faced betrayal! Such people hold no value. Trash must be treated as trash!

One world inside the car, another outside. Outside, they thrilled at the chase. Inside, Mirror October saw everything with crystal clarity.

“Block him!!”

The remaining eight or nine motorcycles charged. The two Harleys tailing the sedan suddenly swerved, flanking the Audi tightly. Less than three meters of space remained—a deadly gap at this speed. One slip meant a chain collision as routine as breathing.

Inside, Mirror October watched coldly. His fingers lightly tapped the steering wheel, the rhythm quickening.

Surrounded. No escape. His crimson eyes locked onto An Yi, the leader. Mirror October wanted to ask: does this scene look familiar, Young Master An Yi? Or can’t it wake your dead conscience?

“Bro An Yi, we’ve got him blocked!” a voice yelled. The riders laughed wildly, seeing the car as helpless prey.

“Haha! Well done!!”

An Yi grinned excitedly. Just recalling that mocking smile inside the car made his anger flare. But this scene felt like ice water poured on his heart—he’d seen it before. “Force him to stop like last time!”

He blurted it out instinctively. An Yi’s unease deepened.

The motorcycles slowed. The sedan had to brake to avoid collision. These reckless riders never considered the car might not slow. They didn’t value life—street racing was about risking it for thrills!

What thrill beat forcing a car to stop, dancing on death’s edge?

An Yi’s face turned hysterical. “Listen up! On my count: one, two, three—ease off the throttle!!”

A dozen motorcycles eased off simultaneously, their long-practiced coordination keeping speeds matched. Mirror October watched ahead, slightly easing his throttle. This was the game’s rule—he never broke it.

My heart is clear as a mirror, reflecting all human hearts.

How ugly can human nature be?

Under An Yi’s command, the motorcycles forced three slowdowns. Soon, the sedan would be stopped completely. For an innocent, the aftermath would be unimaginably cruel. Human darkness runs deeper than you think!

An Yi glared challengingly at the boy’s blurred face. He craved seeing fear and trembling. No one dared disrespect him! He was the emperor of this highway!

Whoosh!

Suddenly, Mirror October rolled down the window. His expression was serene, a faint smile curving like a moon in still water. So calm—no trace of panic. An Yi felt a deep chill at that blurred face.

“Game over!”

A faint voice cut through engine roars and laughter, reaching An Yi’s ears. Before he could react, Mirror October floored the gas! Like a caged beast roaring free, he charged at the ants trying to stop him, crushing them with unstoppable force!

Laughter and whistles died instantly. They stared dumbly at flying debris and twisted bodies, mouths agape. He dared to crash? He really crashed! Was he insane?!

Arrogant faces were now pale with infinite fear. Like a beast on a rampage, the sedan drifted sharply, aiming straight at the rear motorcycles. No slowing down! The car loomed larger in their eyes!

Crash!!!

This must be the most glaring tragedy. Inside the car, Mirror October sighed lightly, watching scattered motorcycles. I (Justice) may be late, but I never miss a game. You think your deeds are flawless—even forgotten.

But the Jigsaw Disciple, serving in the darkness, silently watches you. Watches each and every one of you!
