Chapter 45: Mere Stellar Tier
update icon Updated at 2026/1/13 2:30:02

The next day, Abel timidly poked his head out from the bedroom. Last night, Shea had chased him relentlessly with a sword.

He was the one who got the short end of the stick! Why was he the one getting hurt?

Shaking with rage and cold—when will men finally stand up?

And who knew why this Lucky Cat could still move so nimbly despite her injured knee?

As for actually hitting him?

Hmph. Just a mere Starry Rank.

Still, he’d eventually sent her back to her room to rest. All that hopping around had worsened her injury.

So today, Shea limped around the kitchen, busy cooking.

Truly a diligent cook.

Shea couldn’t miss Abel’s peeking. Annoyed, she snapped,

“Come down and eat.”

Abel fearfully came downstairs, set the table, and waited for Shea to serve the food.

He was sure he’d be stuck eating swordfish heads this morning.

But surprisingly, after Shea served all the dishes, Abel didn’t see any swordfish head for himself.

Was he going to eat plain rice?

“What are you staring at? Eat.”

Shea’s words still held no mercy, but she wasn’t making him eat plain rice.

Abel understood. Could this be the legendary tsundere trait?

Indeed, it suited this Lucky Cat perfectly.

Honestly, if Shea compared her life to a game, her affection level for this pervert Abel would swing wildly—up and down, leaving her utterly confused.

But overall, she could accept living with him.

A white-hair freak like him wouldn’t be interested in her anyway. Plus, he genuinely helped her financially. This meal was from the restaurant delivery he’d arranged.

“By the way, Shea, Nelly said she’d come over today.”

“Oh? Do I need to step out? You white-hair freak.”

Shea’s words were laced with barbs, but this Hunter had skin thicker than a castle wall—he was used to it.

“No. She’ll check your condition and arrange training. Not just her—I think your self-defense skills are too weak.”

“…There’s no way. I can barely make ends meet, and I have to finish Magic Academy. I really don’t have time to get stronger.”

Shea understood her own weakness. She felt like just an ordinary transmigrator.

No golden cheat abilities, no system. As a kid, she’d believed in sayings like “thirty years on the east bank, thirty on the west—never look down on a poor girl.”

But now she’d accepted reality: she was just weak. Her only skill, stealing, was from her past life.

Truly unlucky.

“You just need basic self-defense. You don’t have to be super strong—I’ve got you covered.”

Abel patted his chest. He was a Radiant Sun Hunter—protecting a Lucky Cat should be easy.

“Hmph. Someone’s chased Rico for ages but hasn’t touched a single hair on her head. I won’t name names.”

Facing Abel’s smug expression, Shea shot back with merciless sarcasm.

He wagged his index finger. “Who says that? I’ve touched Rico’s body before.”

“…Wow. You’re shameless. Then how did she escape?”

“Well,” Abel turned away, embarrassed. He lied, “I was careless, didn’t dodge in time, and she slipped away.”

“A Radiant Sun Hunter, huh?”

“Less talk. I swear next time I’ll get serious.”

Abel quickly ended the topic. He believed he’d pin Rico down and spank her butt someday.

Ding-dong~

As they bantered, the doorbell rang, saving Abel’s face. He volunteered,

“Your leg’s hurt—I’ll get it!”

“Safe travels.”

Shea watched Abel flee, a faint smile tugging at her lips. In a way, this feeling wasn’t bad.

Soon after, Abel led Nelly into the living room.

The white-haired girl stepped in awkwardly. “Oh? Did I interrupt your lovely breakfast?”

“No. I’ve already eaten.”

Shea wiped her mouth, stood up limping, and headed to clear the dishes. She couldn’t face this white-haired demon girl.

“You’ve worked hard. Let Abel handle it.”

“No need.”

Self-reliant Shea walked straight into the kitchen. Nelly watched her limp and recalled her own first night—it felt similar.

Had this Hunter already won over little Shea?

“Little Shea will make a great wife, Abel. Are you really not considering it? Also, I don’t remember her knee being this badly injured.”

“Well…” Abel ignored the first question. He struggled to explain the second.

If he told the truth, it wouldn’t just be Shea chasing him. This demon girl was far stronger—he couldn’t outrun her.

Finally, he found an excuse. “Last night, we had a very intense exercise session.”

“…?”

Nelly paused, then smiled knowingly. “Abel, you move fast.”

Move fast? He hadn’t meant to at all.

He’d only meant to help Shea up—who knew it’d turn into this?

Of course, being chased by this Lucky Cat was still fun.

“Pfft! You look like you’re savoring the memory. Having fun?”

“I’m not savoring anything.”

Nelly laughed heartily, genuinely happy with a hint of mischief. “Oh? Really?”

“What’s there to savor? But I do feel sorry for her.”

Abel nodded firmly. If he’d let Shea beat him up last night, her injury might not have worsened.

But teasing her like that was fun.

“I see. Little Shea is young. Wait until she’s fully healed before doing that. It’s cruel while she’s injured. And use a condom—she’s just turned eighteen.”

“Mhm… Huh? What condom?”

“You know, for that time,” Nelly gestured with her hands in an indescribable shape, making vivid sound effects: “Heave-ho~”

With that gesture, even a fool would understand.

Abel didn’t consider himself a fool.

So all this time, he and Nelly had been completely on different wavelengths!
