50. Jiang Fan's Lure

"You—tell me—what is he doing with that white-haired woman?!!"

Mu Yuli had barely stepped out of a business meeting and hadn't even sipped her tea in the lounge when she heard her home had been burglarized. She nearly smashed her phone in fury.

Yelan, her secretary, stood nearby, soothing her constantly.

"No. 2 is watching him closely, Miss. Don't worry—Master Jiang will be fine. Just relax."

"It's because she's there that I'm angrier! I gave her clear orders, yet she let that white-haired woman take him. What is she thinking?!"

Mentioning it only made Mu Yuli more furious.

"As Master Jiang said, he was forced to accept Miss Anna's invitation. After last night's incident, she respects him more. Today was to deepen their sibling bond. No. 2 didn't stop her, fearing it might ruin your deal with Mr. An Jianye."

Hearing this, Mu Yuli calmed slightly. The cooperation was crucial; No. 2's choice was understandable.

But she wouldn't let Anna use it as leverage. Mu Yuli hated being controlled. If Anna didn't back down, Mu Yuli would make her regret it—even if it cost this rare opportunity.

Mu Yuli sat on the sofa, took deep breaths, then spoke into her phone: "Watch that white-haired woman closely. If she tries anything, act immediately. Does she think I'll spoil her like her father?"

She hung up, stood, and walked out without turning back.

"Yelan, cancel the next meeting."

She'd been too gentle lately, letting him provoke her repeatedly.

This troublesome wild cat... Back home was one thing, but here, in this unfamiliar place, he was still unruly. This time, she'd leash him properly.

Jiang Fan had no idea he was in deep trouble. Even if he knew, he was powerless against the woman beside him.

Well, he could resist—but losing Anna's favor wasn't worth it.

After the call ended, No. 2 watched Anna ahead, pulling Jiang Fan around and examining him. She weighed if this counted as "making a move."

As Anna said, the weather was perfect—clear skies and warm sunshine. The sun, hated in China, felt comforting here.

But in a city of millions, good weather drew crowds.

No wonder they called them battle-hardened. Jiang Fan spotted men over two meters tall just by glancing. The women averaged 170cm—everywhere, shapely legs stretched out. It was paradise for leg admirers.

Surveys said Russians weren't the tallest globally, but capital residents must have better nutrition. That was Jiang Fan's only explanation.

After strolling awhile, Anna spoke:

"Jiang Xiaofan, you haven't eaten breakfast. I have recommendations, but you won't be back soon. Why not order by first impression? It's more fun discovering food that way."

Her idea sounded good, but Jiang Fan hated trying new things. He could live the same way forever if possible.

He shook his head firmly. He preferred being passive.

"No need. Order what you like, Anna-jie. I'm the type who wanders supermarkets for thirty minutes and leaves empty-handed. Choosing is torture for me."

"That works. Our food isn't as diverse, but it has specialties. You won't be disappointed."

Anna didn't insist—perfect for Jiang Fan.

"Mm, I'll look forward to it."

He smiled; Anna beamed back and released his hand.

"Wait here, Jiang Xiaofan. Don't vanish when I turn around, okay?"

The crowd thickened on the narrow street. To avoid chaos, Anna decided to buy breakfast alone and leave fast.

The last part targeted No. 2, who just smirked under her hood, silent.

Jiang Fan gave a reassuring look. He didn't speak Russian; wandering alone here was suicidal.

"Oh, No. 2—have you eaten? Want some? I have no restrictions, but speak up if you do."

He called back, waiting.

A clear head shake came from under the hood, followed by a cold voice.

"Don't worry about me. Decide yourselves."

"Got it."

Anna finally walked off, glancing back repeatedly, fearing No. 2 would whisk Jiang Fan away.

"Let's sit and wait."

Jiang Fan gestured, then sat on a convenience store chair. No. 2 sat beside him naturally.

During the idle time, Jiang Fan started talking.

"You called Mu Yuli just now, right? Didn't she order you to take me back?"

No. 2 slightly turned her head, surprised he'd guessed.

Reading her, Jiang Fan smiled lightly. "I guessed right. Since you didn't act, Yelan calmed her. But she'll come after finishing work."

"Knowing too much isn't good—especially with a loose mouth."

No. 2's warning tone came out. Jiang Fan just smiled carelessly.

He'd said it on purpose. As her eyes and ears, he hoped she'd be good bait.

Take it slow. Plenty of bait—he wasn't worried the fish wouldn't bite.
