Chapter 28: The Greedy One

Leyang didn’t need to worry about leaving Phoenix alone in the training ground. Like Ailin Camila Lumier, after reporting to Plan Dominic’s office last time, he could faintly sense hidden experts guarding Phoenix’s safety.

They were likely Gold-tier or higher. Hero-tier experts were rare across the empire. Even if a fifth-tier expert entered Kamila Noble Academy, Plan Dominic’s team would spot them immediately. The academy had special Magic Arrays installed. Hiding one’s aura to sneak in was nearly impossible for fifth-tier experts.

Leyang returned to his quarters first. He grabbed his Silver Blade Dagger and other materials. He stored the materials in his Spatial Magic Tool. He carried the Silver Blade Dagger casually.

Then, Leyang left Kamila Noble Academy. He gave his name to the gate guards. They didn’t stop him. Plan Dominic had already briefed them to recognize Leyang’s face.

First, he visited an armor shop. Various adventurer armors lined the shelves. Several men and women browsed inside.

“Hello, do you have armor that fits me?” Leyang asked the shopkeeper at the counter, looking up clearly.

“Oh my, a little patron!” The shopkeeper’s eyes glinted slightly. He rested his chin on one hand and smiled warmly. “What type? Leather? Light armor? Heavy armor? Budget?”

“Hmm… Can you show me your recommendations?” Leyang paused for a moment and said calmly.

“Sure, wait here.” Soon, the shopkeeper brought out three sets. All looked suitable.

The first was leather armor made from second-tier beast hide. It kept warmth and blocked ordinary blade strikes. Price: two Small Yala Coins.

The second was light armor crafted from second-tier beast bones. Lightweight yet tough. Defense far exceeded leather armor. Movement stayed easy. Price: five Small Yala Coins.

The third was iron armor forged from special metal. It felt extremely heavy—at least 200 kilograms. Most couldn’t handle such weight. It doubled as body training gear. Defense was unmatched. Ordinary swords left only white marks. Even a second-tier warrior’s full strike couldn’t break it easily. Price: five Large Yala Coins—twenty Small Yala Coins.

Damn, crazy expensive!

“This third heavy armor,” the shopkeeper added, seeing Leyang’s gaze linger on it, “adjusts weight based on infused magic. Effect lasts twenty-four hours. Max weight: five hundred kilograms. A steal!”

“Five Large Yala Coins is too steep. How about two?” Leyang was set on buying it. But funds were tight. He needed money later. His past sales earned only two Large Yala Coins. Plus what his third sister Nepis Ginal gave him, he had at most five Large Yala Coins total.

“Whoa! Kid, you can’t slash like that! Cutting half? I’d go bankrupt! For a young customer like you, I’ll do eighty percent off. Four coins?”

“Uncle, you’re the best! Three coins? I’m just a kid—I don’t have much.” Leyang played his age card hard. He stared with pleading, puppy-dog eyes impossible to resist.

“Stop that look! Three Large Yala Coins is too low. Even for a kid, I won’t budge!”

“I said I won’t budge!”

“Fine, you win. Three coins. Take it.” The shopkeeper sighed, rubbing his forehead. Three Large Yala Coins wasn’t a loss.

“Yay! Thanks, uncle!” Leyang beamed with a bright smile.

He pulled out his money pouch—never stored in his Spatial Magic Tool. A kid with such a tool might attract troublemakers.

He placed coins on the counter. Exactly three Large Yala Coins worth. He slipped on the heavy armor smoothly. Over it, he wore a loose cloak. No one could tell.

After adjusting briefly, Leyang muttered, “Really heavy. But it feels great. Thanks, uncle.”

The shopkeeper gaped. That armor weighed over two hundred kilograms. This kid wore it effortlessly? His strength must be three to four hundred kilograms. What a little monster.

No wonder he chose it. He wasn’t ordinary.

For adults, two hundred kilograms of armor was cumbersome. Yet this kid jumped a foot high, making the floor thud dully.

“I’m off.”

“Thanks for your business! Come again!”

Leyang waved and swaggered out. The metal armor stayed quiet with each step. He was satisfied.

Now he could train anytime. Infusing magic boosted defense and weight. Worth every coin.

Leyang channeled magic into the armor, setting weight to three hundred kilograms. He needed to adapt first. Otherwise, he’d jump straight to five hundred kilograms—craving that old pressure.

“Hmm? Two tails followed me from the shop? Targeting my gear because I’m young? Heh. Don’t blame me for being ruthless.” Leyang faintly sensed two presences trailing him since he left. They stuck close wherever he went. Only the crowded streets held them back.

Leyang showed no mercy to greedy fools.
