Chapter 25: Why Not Savor the Fragrance

"The horns of the Demon Race are vital for storing magic power. If damaged, their strength plummets drastically. But when you face them, don’t foolishly target their horns. That spot is actually the hardest part of their body. Even a second-tier demon’s horns can effortlessly shatter solid rock. Their offensive power is terrifying."

"Additionally, some high-tier demons can hide their horns completely, making them invisible. To identify such demons, you need special tools—like a Demon-Detecting Stone."

As she spoke, Mentor Soya Jemi pulled out a white stone. She made it float mid-air, clearly visible to everyone.

"If a Demon Race appears within roughly a hundred meters of this stone, it reveals their aura. The deeper the aura’s color, the stronger the demon. A standard Demon-Detecting Stone detects up to fourth-tier demons. It costs about two Daluo coins—a common price. Nearly every adventurer carries one. It might save your life in a pinch."

"Oh, and remember this: high-tier demons can conceal their aura. Unless they deliberately emit demonic energy, even the stone can’t identify them. Never forget—it’s not foolproof."

"However, due to their nature, demons reveal their true form when hit by enough light-attribute damage. Take healing magic as an example. For ordinary people, it’s life-saving. But for low-tier demons or undead races, it’s lethal. Everything has its weaknesses; all things have their opposites."

"A light-attribute Mage is precious anywhere. Work hard, little Phoenix."

Soya Jemi looked at Glantham Phoenix with a faint smile, her voice gentle.

"Yes, Mentor Soya Jemi!"

Phoenix nodded earnestly. She hadn’t realized light magic was this crucial. She vowed to train hard and become a great elven paladin someday.

Her elven mother had married her human father during the alliance against the Demon Race invasion. Phoenix’s human father sacrificed himself to protect her elven mother. That bond birthed little Phoenix. All races despised the Demon Race for their cruelty.

Later, Soya Jemi explained the power systems for warriors and Mages—basic but practical knowledge. Leyang listened intently, etching every word into his memory.

The morning theory class left Leyang fulfilled. He finally grasped the Camila Empire’s situation clearly. According to Ailin Camila Lumier, his strength was above third tier but not yet fourth. He could easily handle a second-tier monster. Against a fourth-tier one? Uncertain.

"Lord Leyang, shall we eat together?"

"Sure. Where?"

"The west cafeteria. They have delicious braised pig trotter noodles."

"Eating noodles for lunch? Won’t you get hungry early?"

"I can eat several bowls."

"I’d like to see how many."

"You two! Skipping lunch without me? Do you look down on this princess?"

Just as they stood to leave, a fair hand grabbed Phoenix. Princess Lumei pouted in displeasure.

"Huh? Princess Lumei, you’re joining us? I thought you had a private chef."

Phoenix was slightly surprised, puzzled.

"I’m tired of royal dishes. Sometimes you need new flavors."

Ailin Camila Lumier flicked her hair.

"Weren’t those people all inviting you to lunch, Princess? Is ignoring them really fine?"

Leyang smiled faintly.

"Don’t mind them. Let’s go."

"Excuse me, please make way."

"Huh? Princess Lumei?!"

Ailin Camila Lumier grabbed Glantham Phoenix’s hand and dashed out of Class A. Leyang followed closely. Soon, they reached the west cafeteria. Unnoticed, a maid-like attendant trailed behind. The place was luxurious and grand. Tables and food were exquisitely decorated. It felt like a five-star hotel.

"Damn, this is noble life!"

Leyang silently marveled.

"Lord Plan Dominic gave me a free meal card for the cafeteria. I’ll treat you, Lord Leyang."

"Then I’d be a kept man?"

"What’s ‘kept’? What’s a ‘kept man’?"

"Never mind. Since it’s your kindness, I won’t refuse."

Free food was free food—no reason not to freeload. He’d glimpsed the prices earlier. Hell, everything was insanely expensive. Ordinary folks couldn’t afford it. His money wouldn’t last a month here. Of course, this was a nobles-only spot. Commoner cafeterias existed, even free academy meals—but taste and variety were lacking.

"Hehe, I have a free meal card from Mentor Soya Jemi too, Lord Leyang. Want it? If you come whenever I call and tell me stories, I’ll give it to you."

Noticing Leyang’s expression, Ailin Camila Lumier got an idea. Teasingly, she pulled the card from her waist. She waved it temptingly before him and whispered.

"No need. I won’t stay long at Kamila Noble Academy anyway. This card means little. Besides, I’ll freeload off Phoenix’s meals. No trouble for you, Princess Lumei."

Leyang moved closer to Phoenix, grinning carelessly.

"Don’t you have any shame?"

"Can shame fill your stomach? Phoenix offered herself—I didn’t ask. Right, Phoenix?"

Leyang turned to her with a faint smile.

Hearing this, Phoenix lowered her head. Her pointed ears gradually flushed red.

"Mhm."
