Chapter 21: A Discerning Artist Always C

"How could anyone resist two adorable kittens?"

Chen Mo watched the affection meter drop. He could guess why. Early on, affection rose easily—50 meant complete strangers.

Yun Song’s affection only dropped if she’d left Little Ash and Little White at a vet or pet shop… then walked away.

No further contact. Forgotten in daily life. Hence the reset.

So Little Ash’s simulated life wasn’t simple after all. This time, he’d need to raise both the cat’s *and* Yun Song’s affection.

Earning a cat’s trust was one thing—but as a cat himself, gaining a human’s trust without possessing Yun Song? Tricky.

Especially if she wasn’t even a cat person.

*Sigh. One step at a time.*

Checking the status panel, Little Ash remained unconscious. Chen Mo didn’t dwell. The next day, he simulated Luo Xianxue’s life again.

His routine had become monotonous: stuck in a hospital room until 11 a.m. sharp, then jumping into Luo Xianxue’s world.

Over there, he’d chat and draw. Then—*poof*—back to the ward when time ran out.

Endless loop.

Before, he’d had an old neighbor’s TV for distraction. Now? Nothing. He killed time staring at Luo Xianxue’s system panel, guessing what she was up to.

Today, he was *teaching* her to draw. His social skills lagged behind hers, but years in the manga scene made him a seasoned pro on craft and industry tricks.

As he refined her character backgrounds, Luo Xianxue’s phone buzzed on the table—QQ notification sounds.

His pencil paused. He glanced at the screen.

*"It’s just a group message,"* Luo Xianxue’s voice whispered in his mind. *"Don’t worry, Phantom Sir."*

Chen Mo nodded and resumed drawing. Two strokes later—the buzz again.

He ignored it. But the pings kept coming, relentless.

He knew Luo Xianxue’s social habits: offline *and* online, she was painfully shy. Her QQ and WeChat held only close contacts. No moments, no feeds—just a tool for essential calls, like an elder’s flip phone.

*She joined a QQ group? Well… progress, I guess.*

Chen Mo felt oddly paternal. *My girl’s expanding her circle.*

The noise finally broke his focus. He set down his pencil.

*"Sorry, Phantom Sir,"* Luo Xianxue murmured, voice trembling.

"You can mute group notifications," Chen Mo said. He swiped her phone open with her fingerprint, tapped into QQ.

A group named "Who Actually Draws Anyway?"—under 50 members—was exploding with messages. The avatar? Emilia from *Re:Zero*.

Luo Xianxue sensed his confusion. *"I just… found it randomly. You said I should connect with other artists."*

"Good initiative," Chen Mo replied, scrolling in.

First message he saw:

**Flaky Qingqing:** *"Lewd art time!"*

Followed by a flood of "+1"s and copy-paste spam.

**TankAgainToday:** *"Where’s the lewd art? Stop yapping and post!"*

**BleedingInk:** *"I posted yesterday! Whose turn is it today?"*

**Blowhard:** *"We got a newbie yesterday—where’s *their* lewd art? Kick ‘em if they don’t deliver!"*

**Flaky Qingqing:** *"@A Xue."*

Chen Mo froze. *A Xue*—Luo Xianxue’s account—had just been @-ed.

*Useless group? Not exactly.*

He recognized these "lewd art" spammers. Top-tier creators on Bobo Comic. Award-winners. Bestsellers.

His old 100-member art group had them too—same demands, different group name and avatar.

*Damn. Xianxue lucked into a real big-league group… but these chats?*

Her innocence wouldn’t survive this den of degenerates.

Luo Xianxue saw the screen too. Mortification burned through their mental link.

*What if Phantom Sir thinks I’m… loose?* Panic clawed at her.

*"I—I only ask art questions! They actually help! Should we… leave the group?"* she pleaded weakly.

"No. Their behavior isn’t your fault." Chen Mo shook his head. Seeing another @, he typed a single character:

**A Xue:** *"?"*

**Blowhard:** *"Holy crap, the @ worked! Newbie rule: post lewd art. We forgot to tell you last night."*

**NoHewDraws:** *"Didn’t we purge freeloaders days ago? How’s there a new member already?"*

**Flaky Qingqing:** *"Total newbie. Not even in the industry yet. But her style? Insane skills. Future legend—I’m sucking up early."*

**Blowhard:** *"Sucking up gets you legendary status now?"*

**TankAgainToday:** *"LEWD ART OR NOT?!"*

**A Xue:** *"You veterans have been drawing for years. This is your best effort?"*

Silence crashed over the chat. Even Luo Xianxue didn’t expect this.

*Did he just… roast the whole group?*

Chen Mo kept typing.

**A Xue:** *"You’ve got skills. You’ve got taste. Yet you beg for lewd art daily. See one slightly revealing pic and scream ‘lewd!’—‘GKD more!’—ignoring broken faces, wonky anatomy, eye-searing coloring. That last ‘lewd’ pic? A swimsuit? Did no one notice the lighting’s TRASH?"*

**A Xue:** *"Ever asked yourselves: Is this art *actually* lewd? Does it *actually* excite you? Or are you just dumping low-effort garbage into the group, sharing it like it’s gold?"*

**A Xue:** *"I SPIT ON THAT! DISGUSTING!"*

**A Xue:** *"Grow up. If you want lewd art, DRAW IT YOURSELF."*

**A Xue:** *"A true artist creates lewd art that fits *their* vision, *their* audience—not grovels for scraps from QQ group dumpsters."*
