36. Don't You Remember Me?
update icon Updated at 2026/1/5 2:00:03

What the hell is going on here?

Cheng Hao looked extremely awkward, staring blankly at the scene before him.

He was just an ordinary nobody. Ye Xinran had dragged him into this classroom against his will. He hadn’t even meant to show off any relationship with her.

But why was this guy targeting him? Could it be just because he was handsome…

Hmm, that was very possible.

After all, when Yang Wei called him a pretty boy earlier, his eyes were full of jealousy.

“What is this guy trying to do? Planning to steal the freshman’s girlfriend?”

“I reckon so. The campus beauty is gorgeous and outstanding. It’s inevitable someone would set their sights on her.”

“But… how come I feel like that guy’s a simp?”

The crowd began buzzing with comments on what they’d witnessed.

Everyone was upset about Cheng Hao’s ambiguous closeness to the campus beauty. Yet compared to the arrogant Yang Wei, Cheng Hao left a better impression.

Simply put, Cheng Hao was handsome. Appearance-wise, he was somewhat worthy of her.

As for Yang Wei—he didn’t look bad, but gave off a shifty vibe. Plus, his name sounded unpleasant. Maybe he lived up to it.

“Uh… senior, maybe just let it go,” Cheng Hao said, waving his hand. He signaled Ye Xinran not to get angry over him.

He didn’t care much about Yang Wei insulting him as a pretty boy. After all, you don’t stoop to a dog’s level.

Besides… it didn’t even sound like an insult. More like a compliment to his looks.

“How can you let it go? He just insulted you!” Ye Xinran’s voice softened instantly. The moment she looked at Cheng Hao, she reverted to her usual cute, airheaded self—a stark contrast to her earlier coldness.

“Doesn’t matter. If a dog bites you, do you bite back?” Cheng Hao said nonchalantly.

“You’re awful! Calling me a dog.”

“Hmm… I wasn’t insulting him. Isn’t that just the truth?”

“Oh? I didn’t expect you to be so mean.” Ye Xinran chuckled lightly, covering her mouth.

Truth be told, Cheng Hao had zero interest in trash-talking.

Not because he was morally superior. Simply because no one could out-trash-talk him.

He’d been a League of Legends addict back in the day. His server… was in Zu’an.

Cheng Hao smiled wryly. He turned to Yang Wei and his father. They glared at him with venomous eyes, as if ready to strangle him.

“You must be Cheng Hao. Do you think someone from your background is worthy of Xinran?” Yang Dianfeng sneered coldly. “Let me be frank. Xinran isn’t the ordinary girl you imagine. I advise you to let go. You two will never work out.”

“Is that so?” Cheng Hao eyed Yang Dianfeng questioningly. “Then what kind of family do you think I come from?”

The atmosphere grew tense again.

Cheng Hao stayed calm facing the school’s board chairman. Not a flicker of panic—just composed ease.

Could this guy be a hidden rich heir, staging a cliché love triangle?!

“How dare you speak to me like this? Don’t you know who I am?” Yang Dianfeng fumed. If not for the students watching, he’d have slapped Cheng Hao already.

“You are… Yang Wei’s father… Yang Dianfeng?” Cheng Hao asked doubtfully.

“Hmm? So you know me.” Yang Dianfeng snorted. Someone recognized his status after all.

“Holy crap… your name really is Yang Dianfeng? I was just blurting it out.” Cheng Hao looked incredulous.

“You…” Yang Dianfeng nearly fainted from rage. He’d disliked Cheng Hao from the start.

Not just because his son pursued Ye Xinran. Mainly because Ye Xinran had openly defied him for this poor student—a huge loss of face.

He didn’t dare anger Ye Xinran. She was the Ye family’s young miss. Crossing her meant ruin.

Yang Dianfeng knew well to pick on the weak.

This Cheng Hao was indeed a greenhorn, as his son said. Unfazed by authority—only someone untouched by life’s harshness would talk like this.

No matter. Let him be arrogant now. After tonight, he’d break the kid’s leg. Teach him that words bring disaster.

Yang Dianfeng took a deep breath. Redirecting his fury to Cheng Hao, he sneered, “You truly don’t know who I am? I’m this school’s board chairman. You’d better—”

Before he finished, Cheng Hao frowned in confusion. “No way. It hasn’t been long since we last met. Don’t you remember me?”

Yang Dianfeng paused, puzzled. “What? When have we met?”

Yang Wei wasn’t suspicious. He’d thought Cheng Hao looked familiar but couldn’t place him.

“Three months ago. At Bihai Villa.”

“I’ve been there. But I don’t recall seeing you.” Yang Dianfeng scoffed. “Don’t bluff. Someone from your family probably doesn’t even know where Bihai Villa is.”

The crowd erupted in whispers.

Bihai Villa was a famous out-of-province club. Only the rich and powerful entered. Everyone knew it.

Yet Cheng Hao dared to lie to the board chairman. Was he out of his mind?

Or just boasting to save face after losing it in front of the campus beauty?

But if you boast, pick something plausible. Especially here—wasn’t this just making a fool of himself?

Why was the campus beauty so kind to this lying freshman? They’d thought he had good character.

Yang Wei snorted. “Joking to amuse me? You probably don’t know what Bihai Villa’s gate looks like.”

“Of course I know.” Cheng Hao stayed calm. “How could I not? My family owns it.”

“Absurd.” Yang Dianfeng shook his head. “No wonder Xinran was fooled by you.”

Cheng Hao sighed. “I sat right across from you that day. You don’t remember me at all?”

Yang Dianfeng glared impatiently. “If you were truly across from me, would I not recognize you? Stop bluffing.”

“Yes. I sat beside you, watching you bow and scrape like a grandson. Don’t you remember?”

Cheng Hao stroked his chin. “But it’s understandable. Who’d want to recall embarrassing history?”

“I remember you weren’t like this back then. To please others, you almost knelt to lick their shoes.”

“Well? Do you remember who I am now?”
