It was already dark by the time Su Shui finally made the two young ladies realize they weren’t cut out for cooking.

The stir-fried ice cream stall was cluttered with broken woks and spatulas.

Some pots weren’t leaking, but they gave off a horrifying stench.

The stall owner looked ready to cry. These three had truly come to ruin his livelihood—not a single good pot remained.

“Come on, let’s go! Time for something wholesome and healthy~”

Su Shui led Su Qing and Lin Ning forward. He wouldn’t dare let these two guide him again; who knew what terrifying thing they’d drag him into next.

…………

……

“So… you want to play this?”

Lin Ning and Su Qing stood outside, watching Su Shui frolic inside the inflatable castle.

“Of course! It’s so much fun in here~” Su Shui called out while jumping.

They saw no one over ten years old inside except Su Shui.

He chased the kids around like a ringleader, quickly winning them over.

Nearby parents, glad their children had playmates, praised Su Shui highly.

“Look at this young man—he plays so well with my granddaughter~” said a curly-haired auntie.

“Yes, people this caring and fond of kids are rare nowadays~” a young mother added, admiring him.

…………

……

Lin Ning and Su Qing had no choice but to wait outside until Su Shui tired himself out.

“Girls, is that young man inside your…?” an auntie approached them.

“What do you need?” Lin Ning braced herself, fearing some cult pitch like “Join our great way!”

Instead, the auntie pulled out a small notebook.

“I match singles. That boy’s average-looking, but loving kids scores big points…”

Before she finished, Su Qing cut in.

“Thanks, Auntie, but he’s my boyfriend~ No need for matchmaking. Could you arrange the wedding instead…?”

Lin Ning yanked Su Qing behind her and covered her mouth.

“Auntie, ignore her nonsense. I’m his wife. She’s my sister-in-law—just joking around!”

The auntie stared at them like they were crazy, muttering as she walked off.

“Sigh… such a nice young man, saddled with two lunatics~”

…………

……

After finally dragging Su Shui out of the inflatable castle, he even challenged the kids inside.

“Wait for me! Next time, I’ll settle this once and for all—who’s the true castle king!”

“Enough! Let’s go already!”

Lin Ning covered her face, pulling Su Shui away while Su Qing slipped off first, leaving her to handle the aftermath.

“Okay, no more thrills. Just follow me~” Lin Ning whispered to Su Shui.

“No tricks?”

“No tricks!”

Lin Ning took Su Shui’s large hand, leading him away. Su Qing stood alone under a small streetlight.

“Where did those two vanish to?”

…………

……

Beneath the Ferris wheel, Lin Ning held Su Shui’s hand.

Gazing at the neon-lit wheel against the night sky, their already clasped hands tightened unconsciously.

“Stinky Shui, how long has it been since you took me out?”

“I’m just a homebody~”

“You know it!” Lin Ning shot him a look, sighing. “You’re so unreliable~”

“Hehe~” Su Shui grinned stupidly, scratching his head.

“Let’s go. Stop grinning like that~”

…………

……

Inside the Ferris wheel cabin, Lin Ning and Su Shui sat shoulder to shoulder. Despite being old marrieds, her heart raced.

“He must be nervous too…”

She turned her head to see Su Shui picking his nose, pressed against the window.

“Wow, it’s gorgeous! Look, look!”

He nudged Lin Ning with his elbow.

“Sigh… what am I even nervous about? This idiot!”

“Hey, we’re the only ones on the whole Ferris wheel~”

Su Shui, ever the curious kid, pointed out the obvious.

“Yeah, yeah—I rented the whole thing~”

Lin Ning casually flexed her wallet power; Su Shui was used to it.

“What if we ate hotpot up here? Wouldn’t that be awesome!” Su Shui’s imagination ran wild, drooling over how to set it up.

“So on this private Ferris wheel with just us… all you want is hotpot?!”

Lin Ning wanted to stab this hopeless romantic. She gritted her teeth.

“He’s my husband. My choice. My youthful mistake. Breathe. Breathe!”

She silently chanted, forcing down her anger.

Slowly, the Ferris wheel reached its peak.

“Shui… it’s been three years since we married~” Lin Ning reminisced. “You’ve never seriously said ‘I love you’ to me.”

“Really?” Su Shui tilted his head. “We’re old marrieds—why say mushy stuff? We’ve known each other since kids. You’re like my childhood fiancée~”

“Pfft. Someone like you deserves a fiancée like me?” Lin Ning pinched his cheek. “How did I ever fall for you?”

“Hehe, must’ve been blind~ I’m so lucky~” Su Shui beamed.

“Too bad~”

“Yeah, too bad I messed up such a great wife~” Su Shui shrugged, but his brows furrowed.

As they spoke, fireworks soared into the sky, bursting to paint the darkness in rainbow hues.

“Wife, I love you~” Su Shui whispered during the explosion.

Lin Ning heard nothing, only seeing his lips move.

Amid the dazzling view, the cabin seemed to melt into the fireworks.

Seizing the moment, Su Shui turned serious, gripping Lin Ning’s hand and locking eyes.

“Lin Ning! Let’s get back togeth—”

*Riiing!* His phone rang. He slammed it silent.

“Let’s get back togeth—”

*Riiing!*

“Who is it?!” Su Shui barked, answering blindly. Didn’t they know he was proposing?!

“It’s your sister!”

“My sister?” Su Shui perked up. “Xiao Qing~ hehehe~”

“Explain why you ditched me with Lin Ning! Where did you run off to?”

“We… got lost…” Su Shui lied.

“Liar! You’re on the Ferris wheel!” Su Qing hung up instantly.

“No time! Wife, we—!” Su Shui gazed at Lin Ning with big, hopeful eyes, dropping to one knee.

“Sigh… go calm your sister first,” Lin Ning said.

She pressed a button, speeding the Ferris wheel down.

“Hurry off~” Lin Ning pushed him gently, hands behind her back. “Come back soon~”
