Chapter 31: The Calamity Witch Reluctant
update icon Updated at 2025/12/31 13:00:02

The Holy Maiden truly lived up to her title.

When it came to socializing, Remiel’s skills were exceptional.

Facing a crowd of soldiers and guards, she’d won them over with just a few words.

To get this “wicked” Calamity Witch to leave, they’d even turned on each other. Xia Xin didn’t know whether to laugh or feel touched.

Anyway, better seize this chance to run!

Xia Xin and Xila bolted.

Escape! Thud thud thud!

“Alone with Witch Miss! Yay!”

Xila hated that airheaded Belle, but this time, she’d actually done something useful.

By distracting the troublesome Holy Maiden, now it was just her and Witch Miss.

Plus, that Holy Maiden was so dumb—just letting them walk away like this. Heh, perfect chance to escape!

No way would she go to Kebento Factory as planned.

The more humans suffered, the happier Xila would be!

“Witch Miss, come back to Demonfolk territory with me now!” Xila said, gazing at Xia Xin. “We’ll be safe there.”

No way! Absolutely not!

Xia Xin shook her head instantly.

As the Calamity Witch, she was hated by both humans and Demonfolk—nowhere was safe.

Besides, this idea came from Xila herself. That scheming little loli definitely planned revenge, setting traps in Demonfolk lands to capture her.

In Demonfolk territory, she’d face brutal demons and minotaurs instead of human interrogators.

She absolutely couldn’t agree!

“Ah… I see…” Xila said dejectedly.

Witch Miss must still distrust her… Well, that was normal.

Hehe, her cautious nature was kinda cute~

Xila felt herself growing fonder of Witch Miss by the second.

“Since there’s nothing else, let’s split up and run,” Xia Xin waved, not wanting to go to Kebento Factory either. It felt dangerous.

“Huh? Split up—” Xila froze solid.

W… Witch Miss wanted to leave her?!

No way! She couldn’t allow that!

Might as well knock Witch Miss out—then she couldn’t escape.

“Hm? Wait…” Xia Xin suddenly called.

“Witch Miss, what’s wro—” Before Xila could finish, Xia Xin grabbed her shoulders and pinned her against a tree.

“Ah!” Xila’s cheeks flushed as Xia Xin leaned closer. “W-W-Witch Miss… really here? Um… please be gentle…”

“Mm.” Xia Xin nodded.

“As expected…” Xila thought. “She doesn’t want to leave with me. She must have reasons… I can endure loneliness after one last kiss—huh?”

Xia Xin had already stepped back, holding a torn scroll. “She left this… could there be one on me too?”

She reached behind her hood and ripped off another identical scroll.

[Magic Scroll: Forbidden Spell: Holy Light Judgment]

[Type: Consumable]

[Active. Releases in 3 hours, dealing massive Holy Light damage to enemies in range. Only the user can deactivate it.]

[Note: Cannot be destroyed, discarded, given, or traded.]

Forbidden Spell?!

With Holy Light?!

And unremovable?!

Xia Xin and Xila paled instantly.

“Quick—throw it away!” Xila yelled.

“I’m trying!” Xia Xin flung the scrolls, but they clung to her hands like glue.

Done for. As Demonfolk, Holy Light would vaporize them completely.

Saint Lemil—that seemingly silly girl had such cunning.

If they didn’t reach Kebento Factory on time for Remiel to remove the scrolls, they’d be blown to dust.

Terrifying… too terrifying.

This Holy Maiden was brutal. Xia Xin felt like handing her the “Calamity Witch” title.

And this was only what she’d found—who knew what else Saint Lemil had planted? Damn it! She had them trapped.

No way out.

“Sigh… no choice. We go to Kebento Factory,” Xia Xin patted Xila’s shoulder, reattaching the torn scroll to her back.

Thanks to their Blood Clan bond, she could remove it… better stick it back fast before Xila noticed.

If Xila slipped away, she’d carry two scrolls. Double the explosion meant no ashes left.

Better drag someone down with her.

Even if Saint Lemil wanted her body, bringing Xila along would halve her own risk.

“Witch Miss… mm! I understand!” Xila nodded reluctantly. Following Saint Lemil’s orders was awful, but she had no choice.

Still, besides anger at Saint Lemil, a hint of joy warmed her heart.

She’d stay with Witch Miss longer. Yay!

Plus, she’d noticed small details.

Witch Miss had torn off the scroll easily.

With her power, a mere forbidden spell scroll meant nothing.

Yet she agreed to go to Kebento Factory… Her reason was obvious! She wanted to stay with her longer!

Xila felt deeply moved.

Witch Miss cared so much—sacrificing time, stepping into danger…

Of course! Whatever waited at Kebento Factory, it was no threat to her.

Punching Holy Knight Commanders, kicking interrogators like Belle, tossing forbidden scrolls like toilet paper… Witch Miss could crush even Heroes and Demon Kings. She was practically invincible.
