Chapter 31: The Primordial Gift of the C
update icon Updated at 2025/12/30 18:00:01

Luo had already pondered this question back in the Starry Sky Temple, when he was preparing to descend and aid women in need.

So he’d asked the Universe Origin for a treasure—and surprisingly, that old bastard had actually agreed without hesitation.

*Guess the old geezer does have a compassionate side after all.* Luo felt a flicker of warmth recalling it.

As the God Emperor, Luo could effortlessly split his consciousness: one part guiding two girls through the mountains, another handling matters here.

Within Luo’s storage space…

An endless void stretched out, dotted with faint, ancient starlight. Floating amidst the darkness were ruins of civilizations beyond human imagination—shattered remnants of epochs long gone. All now silent, broken, eternally asleep in the dark.

This was no ordinary storage space. It was a pocket dimension.

Floating within it stood a white ancient palace. Beneath it lay an altar carved with mesmerizing, fluid stone patterns. Above the altar, four stone pillars supported a white rock dome.

Luo’s consciousness materialized inside the palace.

Beside the altar sat a massive, dark-gold arcane device from a lost civilization—complex, unique, over three meters tall, and solidly built.

*“I never examined this treasure closely before. Might as well figure out how to use it to guide female adventurers.”*

Luo stepped closer, studying its intricate ancient mechanisms and carvings he couldn’t decipher. But in the center lay a rectangular slot holding three palm-sized white crystal squares.

Confused—and unable to contact the Universe Origin here—he noticed a stone tablet beside the device. Its engravings used ancient cosmic script, comprehensible to any being of sufficient power without knowing the language.

It read:

*“First, insert coins. Then grip the lever while focusing on the female you wish to aid (any species, must be female). Pull the lever to participate in the draw. One coin per draw. Insert ten coins for a guaranteed rare item!”*

*Holy shit…*

*This is just a damn slot machine!?*

*That bastard Universe Origin! Just give me the treasure—no flashy gimmicks!*

A bad feeling crept over Luo. Of course—the old man’s easy agreement had been suspicious from the start.

*“Coins? Where am I supposed to get coins?”*

His eyes caught smaller text beneath the tablet: *“Master the sigil below to access real-time information.”*

An ancient sigil followed. Though unfamiliar with this extinct civilization, Luo—having grasped the universe’s essence—understood its meaning instantly.

*“This seems simple enough.”*

As he comprehended the sigil, a message flashed in his mind: *Remaining points: 12.*

*“Why twelve?”* He didn’t dwell on it. Time to test it.

Channeling the ancient technique, Luo felt his pocket bulge. He pulled out gleaming blue crystal coins carved with the shrunken, unmistakable face of the Universe Origin himself.

Frowning slightly, Luo approached the “slot machine.” He inserted one coin, gripped the lever while picturing Han Lianfei, and pulled.

*Whiiir—*

A deep, ancient hum filled the air. The device whirred to life—light rippling across complex gears and mechanisms Luo couldn’t fathom.

Three white crystal panels spun rapidly before him.

*“Told you—it’s a slot machine!”*

Luo’s sharp eyes tracked the blur: chibi portraits of Han Lianfei (drawn only to the chest, wearing a pointed hat) flashed beside stylized totemic treasures.

*“Even designing chibi art? How… thoughtful.”*

*Clatter-clatter—* The treasure panels spun wildly.

*Ding!* A crisp chime echoed through the void.

The panels slowed, settling on one panel showing Feier’s flirtatious smile and two different treasures.

Ancient, cheerful music chimed. Glowing glyphs materialized above the device. Though unreadable, their meaning was clear: *“Thank you for your patronage!”*

*“Seriously…?”*

*“Well. Luck of the draw. One more try.”*

Luo inserted another coin.

After more spinning: *“Thank you for your patronage!”*

*“I’ll thank your sister!”* Luo snapped.

*“I’ll just kick this damn machine open and take the treasure!”*

He raised his foot—then spotted an exclamation mark on a metal plaque beneath the device. Leaning down, he read:

*“Friendly Reminder: This device connects to the Dark Universe’s Fold Gate. All treasures are drawn from the Origin’s Vault. Destroying the machine yields no items and permanently revokes draw privileges. ♡”*

*“♡…”* Luo felt utterly drained. He’d been played.

Tiny text followed the heart: *“Turn the device around for a surprise!”*

Since it wasn’t against a wall, Luo simply walked behind it. Among faded carvings and mechanisms, a dark crystal plate pulsed with mysterious energy. Its inscription used the Universe Origin’s secret script:

*“Darling~ You must be wondering how to earn points, right?*

*Rescue Star Island Sea’s princesses, queens, and knightesses.*

*Defeat Star Island Sea’s evil forces. Save its people from suffering.*

*Crush hypocrites expanding under ‘justice.’*

*Crush bullies forcing self-serving ‘rules’ on others.*

*—Any act stabilizing Star Island Sea’s balance grants 1 point!”*

*“One point to save a kingdom’s princess? Hey! One pull costs a whole point! How many ‘balance acts’ for a ten-pull? This system’s ridiculously stingy!”*

*“Huh?”*

The script beneath the plate shifted, forming bold, glaring words:

***“Cross-dressing while completing the above tasks grants 100x points!

(。・ω・。)ノ♡”***

***“…”***

***“UNI—VERSE—ORI—GIN!!!”***

A furious roar echoed through the void.
