Evelyn glanced at my expression, hesitated slightly, then asked:
"Are you sure you're alright, Lady Sibyl? You look like you haven't rested well. Would you like to sleep a bit longer?"
Honestly, my mental state was terrible—dizzy, wobbly on my feet like walking on cotton, and utterly drained of strength.
The 【Real-time Combat Data】panel faithfully reflected just how rough I felt:
【HP: 300/300】
【MP: 1000/1000】
【Buff: Basic Soul Guard (Slight mental fortification, immunity to malice from specific individuals. Source: Carol. Duration: 4 days)】
【Debuff: Mental Exhaustion (Significant reduction in all physical attributes)】
【Reputation (EXP): Lv.1 0/100】
But even so, faced with the huge temptation of leveling up, something as trivial as mental exhaustion meant nothing to me, the Great Overlord!
I shook my head, politely declining Evelyn's suggestion:
"It's fine, it's fine! I can still hold on. Just take me there, Sister Evelyn, no worries~"
"As you wish, Great Demon King," Evelyn replied respectfully. "However, the destination is quite a distance away. May I carry you there?"
Hey now—you never asked permission before when you wanted to carry me. This sudden formality feels so fake.
I almost wanted to retort, but my weakness made me give up the thought.
Anyway, I wouldn't object to Evelyn carrying me now. After all, just standing for a short while had me sweating and barely able to stand.
Though Evelyn’s attitude had suddenly turned respectful, I couldn’t tell if it was genuine or just an act. Might as well play cute for safety. It wouldn’t cost me anything.
I thought for a moment, then smiled sweetly at Evelyn, cooing in a baby voice:
"Of course you can~ Sister Evelyn’s embrace is so gentle and comfy~"
I wasn’t just flattering her. When Evelyn carried me, she’d trap me completely, but her chest was really big and comfy to lean on. As a true Overlord, I wouldn’t deny my subordinates’ good points due to personal bias.
"Hehe~ Is that so?"
Evelyn’s previously businesslike expression softened. She stepped forward, patted my head, and lifted me up:
"Lady Sibyl, you’re so sweet-tongued~ It feels just as sweet as the scent of your blood~ Ah, don’t worry~ I’m just making a comparison. I won’t harm you~"
Ignoring Evelyn’s weird metaphor, I doubled down on the cuteness. Once in her arms, I deliberately rubbed against the silver-haired vampire’s chest, mimicking a kitten’s voice:
"Mew~ Sibyl knows Sister Evelyn would never hurt her."
Evelyn didn’t comment, but I felt her freeze for a few seconds. When she snapped out of it, she held me tighter.
...
Evelyn carried me out of the room, showing no intention of leaving the castle. Instead, she descended the stairs continuously, past the first floor, heading deeper into the darkness.
I sensed something was off and quickly asked:
"Sister Evelyn, where are you taking me?"
"Lady Sibyl, I’m taking you to the dungeon where the fanatical soldiers of the Light Alliance are imprisoned," she answered without hesitation.
I seemed to realize something and asked:
"Are you planning to use them... to help me level up?"
"Exactly, Great Demon King. For you, they’re perfect ‘material’. Easy to eliminate, and you won’t feel too bad about it—they’re the enemies you’ll face on the battlefield. Though we’ve captured few, it’s enough to fulfill your wish to level up."
