Chapter 29: Embrace the Cuteness

I quickly drifted back to sleep.

This time, no one disturbed me. I slept deeply, surreal dreams flickering endlessly before fading into peaceful darkness—

—then into milky-white dawn.

Consciousness slowly returned. Even with my eyes closed, brightness seeped through, and a trace of unusual warmth touched my eyelids. It felt strange, almost uncomfortable.

But when I opened my eyes, blinding sunlight nearly seared my vision. Now I understood: my body had soaked up a full sunbath long before my mind woke. Tiny beads of sweat dotted my small nose from the exposure.

Hey, hey, hey—this was the Western Demons’ stronghold, the Garden of Death! Shouldn’t Demon Kin territory be shrouded in eternal gloom, choked by black mists or lethal miasma?

This bright, cloudless weather was so not demonic!

Annoyed, I rolled over to escape the glare, burrowing deeper under the covers. I shut my eyes, planning to nap a little longer.

I-it’s not that I’m lazy! Without alarm clocks here, I just wanted to linger in bed.

But then, a haughty, lazy contralto voice purred in my ear:

“Oh my, does the Great Demon King Sibyl love sleeping so much?”

I shuddered. That sharp tone wasn’t Carol’s familiar warmth—it belonged to the silver-haired vampire who saw me as food.

Instantly awake, I snapped my eyes open and stared at the source.

Sure enough, the Demon Kin’s strongest fighter—the “War Sovereign” Carol had raved about—sat primly on a chair by the desk. She wore a knowing smile as she watched me.

What nearly made my jaw drop was Evelyn herself. The cold, proud Evelyn now wore a maid outfit.

Her snow-white silver hair spilled over her shoulders. A faint smile graced her pale face, and her crimson vampire eyes gleamed with amusement. The black-and-white maid dress seemed alive on her, her long legs sheathed in black stockings radiating subtle allure.

Layers of snowy lace and tailored black puff sleeves dazzled the eye. A cute crimson bow tied beneath her collar, and sparkling rhinestones dotted the skirt like winking stars.

The cute maid style blended flawlessly with Evelyn’s queenly aura, forming perfect artistry.

Ah!

I was utterly mesmerized. So gorgeous! How could this world hold such a treasure as a black-stockinged maid outfit?!

Evelyn’s sudden appearance in my room—and Carol’s absence—faded from my excited mind.

My intense stare seemed to unsettle her. Evelyn frowned slightly and said coolly:

“Great Demon King, you haven’t answered my question. And staring so rudely is quite impolite.”

“A-ahahaha.”

I snapped back, laughing awkwardly. Without thinking, I slipped into my loli persona:

“I’m still growing! Extra sleep helps me get taller.”

“Is that so?”

Evelyn nodded, rose from her chair, and glided toward me. I was still curled up in bed, bewildered. She yanked the covers off, then grabbed the back of my collar. Effortlessly, she hoisted me up—robbing me of all dignity!

Just like those viral Earth videos where kittens, puppies, or bamboo rats get lifted by their scruffs for forced cuteness!

“My apologies~ But a regular sleep schedule ensures the Great Demon King grows tall,” Evelyn declared matter-of-factly.

So that’s your excuse for treating me like a pet?

After a brief daze, the uncomfortable grip made me squirm and protest loudly:

“Evelyn, what are you doing?! This hurts! Put me down!”

No matter how I struggled, I just flailed helplessly in midair. The fabric at my collar held firm, bearing my full weight without tearing.

Was I too light? I really should eat more…

…No, no—this wasn’t the time! As the Great Demon King, I couldn’t be manhandled like this!

How infuriating!

But Evelyn didn’t intend to keep me dangling. At my protests, she smoothly cradled me in her arms.

“My deepest apologies, O Great Demon King Sibyl. That method was convenient—I neglected your comfort. Forgive me.”

Her apology felt hollow, yet I had no right to refuse it.

Evelyn’s frame was taller and fuller than Carol’s petite form. Nestled against her, I felt like a little girl held by her mother. Her arms locked me in a tight embrace, leaving no room to escape.

Yet she carefully avoided the maid outfit’s stiff decorations, letting me rest against soft fabric. My head pillowed against her ample bosom. If I stayed still, it was… oddly comfortable.

Only then did I snap out of my maid-outfit daze. Hesitating, I played along, snuggling closer as I asked:

“N-no worries. But where’s Sister Carol?”

“Carol has duties today~ I’ll handle your training… ahem, serve you entirely, O Great Demon King Sibyl.”

So they’re rotating? High Rank Demons taking shifts? Carol yesterday, Evelyn today, and tomorrow that Alan I hate??

And she totally meant “training” just now!

“…”

I gulped.

I recalled this War Sovereign’s… notable personality quirks. Yesterday’s “gentle” Carol had already tortured my butt. Today’s sadistic Evelyn would surely leave me bruised head to toe!

Remembering her earlier blood-sucking act—even as playacting—she was far scarier than Carol.

My ahoge wilted in fear. My whole body trembled slightly.

Help!!!

The adorable pink-haired loli Overlord was about to be “trained” by her terrifying vampire subordinate! Someone save me!!

Evelyn caught my fearful expression and chuckled softly:

“Oh dear, why such a scared face~? I won’t eat you, O Great Demon King Sibyl. Obey me, and you’ll never be harmed.”

So disobedience means getting eaten? What dark fairy tale trope is this?!

And coming from a vampire with a record, your words hold zero credibility!!

My inner monologue roared with sarcasm, but reality demanded submission. Timidly, in a squeaky loli voice, I asked:

“R-really?”

As I spoke, I deployed the classic anime starry-eyed attack, hoping cuteness might buy me mercy.

“Mm, Carol was right—you are adorably cute~”

My passive skill worked. Evelyn’s gaze softened. She ruffled my hair.

“Good girl~ Unlike that perverted Succubus Carol, I’ve no obsession with lolis. Behave, Sibyl, and I’ll do nothing strange. Now, it’s late. Let me serve you with washing and breakfast.”
