53. The Perilous Ascent

When Alice returned, she caught sight of Lenna tussling with a gaunt black-haired girl. She quickened her pace, drawing her staff while chanting a holy spell.

"...What are you doing?!" Lenna's glare froze Alice mid-motion, her raised violetwood staff still glowing—before *thwack!* it bonked her forehead.

"I-I-I came to help you, senpai!" Alice rubbed her throbbing brow, voice wobbling.

"Who asked for your help? We were just playing," Lenna snapped.

Though she sensed Minas was hiding something, Lenna always kept her promises.

But first...

She *had* to uncover Minas's class!

What if it was some broken-tier Origin Mage? One who could sneakily bind a soul chain to you at night, then stab your heart—leaving you dead before you knew how.

Lenna feared this world's bizarre class quirks.

In her past life, she'd suffered enough from them to dread the unpredictable dangers of special classes.

In short: impossible to guard against.

Meanwhile, Alice whined pitifully: "What's *wrong*, Senpai Lenna..."

Emma strolled over from afar. Seeing Alice sprawled on the ground, her heart lurched—she broke into a jog.

"You must've upset Senpai Lenna." Emma crouched, patting her friend's head with a sigh.

The soothing strokes calmed Alice, though she still pouted: "N-no way! I was just trying to get close to Senpai..."

They'd always been inseparable, sharing hearts and plans. Long ago, they'd decided to stay together after the trial—even vowing to serve their future mistress: Lenna Falmouth.

Since ancient times, the strong always drew beauties to their side. Though Lenna shared their gender, her unmatched power attracted admirers like moths to flame—a luxury she'd never known in her past life...

"How did the trial go?" Lenna ordered Minas to stand by while she inspected the rare materials Alice and Emma had gathered from the black market.

"Let me go first!" Alice placed a list and a large cloth bundle into Lenna's hands, then recited proudly:

"Ghost-scale butterfly powder, earth-hound fangs, lich's clay jar, earthworm eyes, harpy tail feathers, magma lizard core..."

A dazzling array—all painstakingly bartered from the Fran Black Market.

Since Lenna hadn't given them funds, they'd spent their savings as "filial offerings"—part of her test, of course...

Lenna never passed up free advantages.

*Want to follow me? Pay your dues. Simple as that.*

"My turn, Senpai Lenna." Emma presented an exquisitely wrapped jadeite box. Its lustrous glow hinted at precious contents.

"Confident, aren't you?" Lenna arched a brow, taking the box.

An icy chill bit her palms—yet when opened, searing heat blasted her face.

Inside lay three thumbnail-sized fruits, blood-red and glistening.

Lenna's mind flashed to Minas's eyes—nearly the same shade.

Emma explained simply: "They say deep in the ancient peaks where harpies nest grows a rare treasure. It balances vital energies, especially for kidney health. Hailed as 'a man's vitality booster, a woman's beauty secret'—even the Fran Black Market rarely sees it."

Lenna's eye twitched. "My list didn't include this..."

"I took the liberty, Senpai. Are you... angry?" Emma tensed.

"Angry?" Lenna snapped the lid shut, chuckling. "Why would I be?"

She was just stunned that quiet Emma had procured such... *potent* fruit. Her real dilemma? Whether to accept it.

Accepting might imply she *needed* it.

Refusing would waste their earnest effort.

Truth was, she'd decided the moment she saw it—pride alone made her hesitate...

"If Senpai doesn't mind..." Emma glanced at Alice, both blushing as they nodded. "You could test its effects tonight. On us."

"We've secretly practiced... certain techniques. Even rehearsed together." Alice beamed. "We'll give you an experience unlike any other! And if you prefer, we can take the—*mmph!*"

Emma clamped a hand over Alice's mouth, shooting her a reproachful look.

Then, softly: "These three fruits are for us three. So tonight... are you free, Senpai?"

"......"

*Well, damn.*

How bold could these little nuns get?

*Seducing their master? Who taught them this?!*

*...Damn right they did!*

*Take notes, certain famous female idols!*

Lenna bristled with mock outrage, determined to "teach them virtue": "H-how did you know I've been... abstinent?!"

*Joke's on you—free meat gets eaten.*

If beauties threw themselves at her, Lenna would stand tall and give it her all—even if her back gave out!

*I'll show you what 'good' really means tonight, you little clams!*

"Yay!" Alice and Emma chimed, grinning.

*Yay? What's 'yay' about getting kept busy all night?!*

Lenna pocketed the box, seething internally.

Alice flushed like ripe peaches, anticipating tonight's "duty." Emma hid her face in Alice's shoulder—both Holy Arbiter Convent novices ready to offer their maidenhood to Lenna's hands.

This was their longed-for rite of passage. A shelter from life's storms. For their utopia, they'd sacrifice anything...

Once, they'd followed Catherine—but she lacked the strength to lead them.

Now, Lenna's power surpassed their wildest dreams. If surrendering their bodies bought entry into House Falmouth, they'd kneel without hesitation, kissing the dust from Lenna's boots.

*Worth it.*

Chastity meant nothing against absolute gain. The scales tipped toward ambition.

Call Alice twisted—but the soil beneath her feet shaped that distortion.

The Bloodied Nun Corps, future scourge of the empire, wasn't forged overnight. Since childhood, Alice and Emma's morals had been poisoned by this world's cruelty—warped beyond repair.

*Climbing.*

*Straining toward the sun's warmth on the mountain peak.*

*Yet the summit others reach by cable car mocks your lifelong climb.*

*Spend a little coin—you leap past decades of sweat. Pay a small price—she basks in the summit's glow while you freeze halfway.*

*And you, my friend?*

*You'll die forgotten on the slopes, your bones bleaching unseen...*

This was Alice's creed. Emma's unshakable truth.

They'd kneel like this for anyone who became their god.

Lenna had claimed that throne—and their loyalty.
