"Being paralyzed and unable to move was annoying enough. I worked hard to cook dinner, only to wait forever for you to come back."
"Stepping outside, I see you hesitating over a woman! Laughing with this guy? Unforgivable!"
"You don’t take me seriously as a brother at all!"
Thinking this, Bai Ling—fresh from killing Liu Ming—couldn’t help sulking. She shot Duan Heng a resentful glare, her cute face puffed up like a hamster stuffed with seeds, begging to be pinched.
Duan Heng scratched his cheek politely, hurried over, wrapped an arm around Bai Ling’s slender waist, and whispered comfortingly:
"It’s over now. I was just heading back—but we had to deal with the bodies, right?"
As he spoke, he couldn’t resist rubbing his chin against her head. How could he resist ruffling such an adorable Bai Ling?
This time, Bai Ling didn’t push him away. Instead, she turned her head awkwardly, shifting her gaze to the woman:
"Hmph. You’d better be coming back… Now, explain who this woman is."
"Oh, right."
Only then did Duan Heng notice the woman Liu Ming had held hostage, still frozen nearby. Terrified, her legs had gone weak. She sat trembling on the ground.
"I… I know nothing. Don’t kill me… sniff…"
She whimpered, hugging her head. Her long, slender legs quivered slightly, eyes wide with fear.
Though less stunning than Bai Ling, she was still charming—a beauty that’d make anyone’s heart flutter, man or woman.
Yet…
"I don’t know her. Kill her?"
Duan Heng’s cold words turned the woman’s face deathly pale, her eyes bulging.
Bai Ling shot him a disgusted look, sighing in exasperation:
"Hey, psycho! Where’d you crawl from? This girl never hurt you. Are you insane?"
Sure, seeing a woman with Duan Heng annoyed her—but she knew this was just a passerby. Killing her for no reason? Too cruel.
Duan Heng activated his "Danger Awareness" skill. No trace of hostility. Truly just a bystander, uninvolved in the raid.
"Then you decide. What should we do?"
Duan Heng blinked, arm still around Bai Ling’s waist, voice gentle.
Bai Ling stroked her chin, sizing up the woman—especially her ample chest and long legs. A plan sparked in her eyes. She crouched beside her, patting her head like a kitten:
"Hey cutie, what’s your name~?"
"Um… Kong Yu…"
Kong Yu curled up, voice tiny, still too scared to meet Bai Ling’s eyes.
Bai Ling kept her tone warm, stroking her hair with gentle fingers—a soothing, motherly touch impossible to refuse.
"Little Yu, don’t wander off. It’s the Apocalypse now. Plan your future: kill monsters, level up. Otherwise, someone as cute as you’ll get eaten by bad guys~."
*Pop*—Bai Ling planted a light kiss on her forehead.
Truth was, Bai Ling just found this girl pretty. Her inner manly instincts flared up—perfect chance to grope a bit!
Kong Yu finally calmed down. She stared at Bai Ling, blushing, recalling how she’d sliced down the villain to save her—that suave slash, cold eyes sparkling like stars! Blood painted Bai Ling’s heroic figure, every detail seared into Kong Yu’s mind.
"Uh… okay…"
Kong Yu nodded dazedly, head lowered, cheeks flushed.
Satisfied, Bai Ling patted her head, then hooked her arm around Duan Heng’s and strode off. Inside, she thought:
"Hmph! My iron-blooded manly soul still lives! Seeing a pretty girl makes me react—I’m a real man!"
"She’s so cute… I’d love to take her home. But first, I must surpass Duan Heng!"
"I’ll step on him, pin him to the bed, beat him till he obeys! He’s the biggest obstacle to my future harem!"
"Darn Duan Heng!"
Bai Ling shot him a fierce glare, twisting to scowl at his confused face.
"By the way, did you earn enough? Not enough System Coins, no dinner for you!"
She bared her teeth, picking a fight.
Duan Heng just raised an eyebrow, tightening his grip on her waist with a smirk:
"Huh? Since when do you run the house? Need another spanking?"
"Ugh! You—!"
That reminder flooded her with shame. Her face flushed crimson. She bit her lip, flustered:
"You… you dare! I forgave you last time. Do it again, and I’ll kill you! Ugh…"
She let out a tiny, humiliated whimper. Empty threats—she could never beat him, nor hurt him.
Duan Heng dropped the topic, smiling sweetly:
"Don’t worry. I earned plenty of System Coins. More than enough to feed you."
"Hmph. Good enough."
Bai Ling turned away haughtily, pretending indifference. But her lips curled into a tiny, honest smile.
Then she froze. Her eyes widened cutely.
"Wait—‘feed me’? Use vulgar words like that again, and I’ll really cut you!"
"Hmm. When you can beat me, maybe~."
"Aaah! Unfair!"
Laughing and bickering, they returned to the villa, leaving behind corpses and charred ruins chilling in the wind. By Day 3 of the Apocalypse, the neighborhood’s threats were cleared. Bai Ling and Duan Heng could now hunt Zombies freely, earning System Coins for supplies.
But neither noticed…
Kong Yu, still sitting on the ground, had stared at Bai Ling’s back the whole time. She cupped her burning cheeks, drooling slightly, eyes sparkling with pink heart-shaped lights.
"So… so cool, that sister. Amazing~."
Her heart raced, breath quickening, drowning in heart-eyed adoration.
"I want… I want to make her mine! Ugh, why am I so weak…"
"Gotta level up hard then ❤~."
