Chapter 17: Has It Already Been Sealed b

"So, Lingyuan," Yixinxue stared at him like he’d grown a second head. He’d just walked in holding nothing but a bag of cat food.

No backpack. No textbooks. Not a single worksheet in sight.

If he hadn’t brought that stray cat home last night, would he have shown up completely empty-handed today?

"Oh, right! I’m here for tutoring!" Lingyuan slapped his forehead. He’d totally remembered this morning—but the cat food distracted him on his way out.

His backpack, still sealed since he got home, was probably chilling on the sofa right now.

"Hmm? That careless?"

"Then I’ll skip today. Brought your cat food—mind if I head out?" Lingyuan grinned, already sidling toward the door. Yixinxue blocked his path.

"Not happening. You forgot your homework, but *I* didn’t." She waved a hand like it was no big deal. "Go sit in the study. I’ll grab practice tests."

"C’mon, Class Rep…" Lingyuan’s mouth twitched. It was true—he hadn’t studied a thing since his mom passed. Even the easiest problem would look like hieroglyphics to him now.

"No worries," Yixinxue said gently. "I’ll teach you… *very* gently."

"*Gently*…?" Doubtful. She’d slapped him herself that one time. And yesterday? She’d twisted his ear hard enough to make him yelp.

"Super gentle! What kind of person do you think I am?" She ushered him into the study, pulled a Chinese test from the shelf, and handed it over. "Here. Freshman-level. Start with the reading comprehension. I’ll show you how to solve it later."

"Uh… okay." Lingyuan felt oddly flustered. Her leaning close, whispering in that soft voice—it made his skin crawl.

Most guys would be thrilled right now.

But the gentler Yixinxue acted, the more restless Lingyuan felt.

"Be good~" She winked and headed to the living room to feed the cat.

The moment kibble hit the bowl, a white blur shot out from under the sofa. The kitten’s head was already buried in the food before she finished pouring.

"Huh…" Yixinxue chuckled wryly. "Guess no goat milk needed today."

Meanwhile, Lingyuan felt like he was serving hard time. The reading passages were all dry essays and technical reports—zero interest. Boredom gnawed at him. He twirled his pen, scanning Yixinxue’s minimalist study. Books lined every wall. The only splash of personality? A row of photos on the windowsill shelf.

He leaned forward for a better look.

The center frame held a family portrait. On the left stood a woman with milk-white hair like Yixinxue’s—but where Yixinxue radiated icy poise, this woman had warm, dignified grace. Between them stood Yixinxue and a black-haired girl who mirrored her features. Twins, maybe? Sisters?

On the far right, Yixinxue’s father wore a sharp gray suit. Expensive fabric. Impeccable tailoring. Undeniably powerful.

Behind them loomed London’s Big Ben. Other photos showed European landmarks—proof Yixinxue had lived abroad.

"Class Rep?" Lingyuan called out. Silence. He peeked into the living room. Empty. Only the kitten remained, focused entirely on its meal.

*Where’d she go?*

He set down his pen and wandered out. Thirsty and hungry since morning, he figured he’d ask for a snack.

Kitchen: empty. Living room: empty. Her four-bedroom apartment had only one door slightly ajar. He’d checked the others.

So…

*Phone’s dying. Gotta charge it in my room.*

Yixinxue set her phone down, then paused.

*Is this outfit… too plain?*

She studied herself in the mirror. The neckline hid her collarbone. Nothing provocative. *No wonder he wanted to leave.*

*Oh!* The realization hit her. *That’s why!*

*Time for something… eye-catching. This’ll totally win him over!*

A devilish smirk curled her lips. Staring at her reflection, she felt like some kind of demon.

Her slender fingers unbuttoned her dress.

The white fabric slid down her legs, pooling on the floor. Bare. Completely bare.

*So thrilling… He’s still in the study. How bold of me.*

A faint blush warmed her cheeks. Her heart pounded.

In the mirror, every curve—every shadowed valley—lay exposed.

*Damn. I look good.*

She shook out her long white hair, letting it cascade over her shoulders, teasing glimpses of what lay beneath.

"Class Rep?"

*Huh? He’s calling? Gotta dress fast—*

She yanked open her closet. Which outfit would hook him? Too many were… extreme. Her ladylike image would shatter. Needed something revealing but elegant.

A JK uniform? Too cliché. He’s a weeb—he’s seen a million anime girls in those.

*Will it even work?*

As she hesitated, the bedroom door swung open.

"Class Rep, you in— HOLY SHIT. SORRY. DIDN’T SEE ANYTHING. PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED."

The door slammed shut.

Yixinxue stood frozen in the center of the room, utterly naked. It took a full ten seconds for her brain to reboot.

"...A-ah? ...Did he just... see *everything*?"
