Xia Shiqi’s face was flushed bright red as she cooed at Chuyun in a soft, fluffy tone, “I’m not sick! I just exercised a bit. My legs feel all wobbly now. Chuyun, carry me, okay? Carry me!”

Before Chuyun could react, Xia Shiqi clung to him like a koala.

Chuyun nearly toppled over under his sister’s koala-like weight. Luckily, his legs were steady now. Otherwise, another disaster would’ve happened.

But Chuyun wouldn’t scold her anymore. He treasured her like a precious gem, afraid to drop her or let her melt.

After all, it had taken so much effort to mend things with Xiaoqi. Sadly, for some reason, she still refused to call him “brother.” That was probably his only regret now.

Yet Chuyun wouldn’t force her. She’d call him “brother” when ready. For now, he was content.

Chuyun carried his koala-clinging sister toward the dining table.

“Xiaoqi, we’re here. Come down now,” he said softly, looking at her in his arms.

Xia Shiqi tilted her head up, her voice sweet and soft as she cooed, “No, no! I want to sit on your lap!”

“Alright, alright. Whatever Xiaoqi wants. Just come down first.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Her adorable act made Chuyun’s heart bloom. He’d grant her any wish now, as long as it wasn’t too outrageous.

Chuyun sat on a chair, patted his lap, and gently signaled, “Xiaoqi, you can come over now.”

Xia Shiqi walked over. Her slender, fair legs straddled his lap. But she squirmed, trying to find a comfortable spot.

“Xiaoqi, stop fidgeting.”

Chuyun watched his restless sister with a sigh. Normally, it wouldn’t matter. But now, he was in an extremely awkward situation. If she found out, he’d die on the spot.

“I’m just trying to get comfortable. Something hard is poking me.”

Xia Shiqi turned her head. Her innocent face, filled with confusion, looked at Chuyun with pure, bright eyes. “Chuyun, is that your phone? Why did you put it there? Take it out quickly!”

So embarrassing! Chuyun felt utterly ashamed under her pure gaze. It was like defiling a holy angel. All thanks to that damn Qiangli Pill for this mess.

Luckily, his sister thought it was a phone. Otherwise, he’d really die on the spot.

Chuyun thought for a moment. “It’s my phone. I need it later, so it’s in my pocket. Xiaoqi, if you’re uncomfortable, just get down.”

“Eh, really? I don’t want to get down. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but I can bear it.”

“Alright then. Xiaoqi, hurry up and eat your breakfast. It’ll get cold.”

Chuyun sighed. It seemed impossible to get her down.

“Mm-hmm.”

After a while...

Chuyun, having finished his sausage buns, drank his milk. After placing the empty glass down, he noticed a full cup of yogurt still on the table. Wasn’t that Xiaoqi’s favorite? She usually gulped it down fast. Why hadn’t she touched it today?

The more he wondered, the stranger it seemed. He asked his lap-sitting sister, “Xiaoqi, why aren’t you drinking your yogurt? Don’t you like it anymore?”

“I’m not really into it today. I want milk instead.”

“Shall I pour you a glass?”

“Mm, yes, please.”

“Wait here. I’ll be right back.”

Chuyun hurried toward the fridge.

Meanwhile, Xia Shiqi stared blankly at the thick yogurt cup, lost in thought.

Minutes later, Chuyun returned with milk. He placed it before her and quickly sat on another chair.

Finally free! He’d seized this chance with difficulty. He didn’t want to relive that torment again.

Chuyun gently reminded his daydreaming sister, “Xiaoqi, I brought your milk. Drink up.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Snapping out of her daze, Xia Shiqi quickly picked up the milk and drank.

Watching her so obediently drink, Chuyun was captivated. He hadn’t seen Xiaoqi this well-behaved in so long.

“By the way, Xiaoqi, are you going to school alone later, or with me?”

“I’d never go with that woman! Don’t even think about it!”

The obedient Xia Shiqi instantly pouted her pink lips. She slammed the empty glass onto the table.

Seeing this, Chuyun felt down. She still hated Sister Wan’er. Maybe he should ask now.

“Xiaoqi, I’ve always wondered. Why do you hate Sister Wan’er so much? Did she do something you dislike?”

“I just hate her. She’s the one I hate most. I don’t want to talk now. I’ll tell you when ready.”

“Alright then...”

It was disappointing, but Xiaoqi had promised to tell him later. He’d wait. Then, he could try mending things between her and Sister Wan’er. After all, the three used to get along so well. Chuyun still missed those days.

Xia Shiqi watched Chuyun lost in thought. She stood up, walked to him, and sat on his lap again. With her slender fingers, she drew little circles on his chest. Her soft, sweet voice rang out.

“Chuyun, do you remember what you promised me this morning?”

“I remember, I remember. Xiaoqi, what do you need me to do now?”

Chuyun thought she needed him to do something.

“Mmm... I haven’t decided yet. I just wanted to check if you forgot.”

“I see... Well, Xiaoqi, just call me when you think of it. As long as it’s not too outrageous, I’ll agree.”

“You said it! If you hesitate then, I’ll bite you to death!”
