"Holy crap! I almost forgot!"
Chuyun, slumped lazily in his chair, suddenly remembered Lin Waner. Oh no—he’d nearly forgotten to pick her up from her class. Was it too late to go now?
Chuyun felt uneasy. Lin Waner’s words at noon weren’t empty threats. If he stood her up again, something serious would definitely happen.
Just thinking about Sister Waner’s black belt in karate made his legs tremble uncontrollably. If she found out he was late because he’d been fooling around with Han Youwei, she’d kill him. For sure.
But worrying now was useless. He should find Sister Waner first, then make up an excuse and beg for mercy.
Meanwhile, in Class 556 of Grade 11.
Lin Waner’s gentle face glowed with a happy smile as she stared at her phone. The screen showed her WeChat chat with Xia Shiqi.
Lin Waner: "Shiqi, want to walk home together?"
Lin Waner: "It’s been ages since we did that."
Xia Shiqi: "Get lost! Shameless woman!"
Lin Waner: "Shiqi… why say that? If you’re upset, I won’t ask again. Please don’t be mad."
The chat ended there.
"Tough nut to crack, Xia Shiqi. Why won’t you let go even now?" Lin Waner murmured, her words cryptic.
Whatever. She was just a loser now—no threat at all.
But what was Xiao Yun doing? Why hadn’t he come? Was he with that cute girl? At that thought, Lin Waner’s cheerful expression instantly darkened.
After waiting longer in the classroom with no sign of Chuyun, she strode out grimly, heading straight for his classroom.
But as Lin Waner reached the stairwell, she spotted Chuyun. She ducked back quickly, patted her cheeks, and her stormy mood vanished, replaced by soft warmth.
"Holy crap!"
Chuyun had just turned the corner upstairs, aiming for Lin Waner’s classroom, when he bumped into her. Already nervous, he jumped in fright.
"Sister Waner, what are you doing here? You almost scared me to death," Chuyun complained, rubbing his racing chest.
Lin Waner frowned slightly, pouting her pink lips. "Hmm? Scared to death? Are you calling me scary?"
"Not at all! Sister Waner’s the prettiest. Let’s go—it’s late," Chuyun said, reaching for her hand. She pulled away instantly.
"Hmph, go where? First, explain your lateness. Did you forget everything I said at noon?" Lin Waner planted her hands on her slender waist, puffing her cheeks as she glared.
Chuyun knew it wouldn’t be easy. How could he explain? He couldn’t admit he was late fooling around with Han Youwei.
Lin Waner’s voice turned wounded. "Do you know how long I waited? Xiao Yun, you’re really not respecting your sister anymore."
"No! I got held up. I came straight here after," Chuyun stammered weakly. No good excuse came to mind. He’d try anything.
"Oh, really?"
"Really! Look at my honest eyes—I’m not lying."
"Hmph, but you’re still late. And made me wait ages. Punishment: you visit my house this weekend. I’ve been lonely alone." Lin Waner rolled her eyes playfully.
Huh? That simple? Just visiting Sister Waner’s house? Chuyun almost agreed, but remembered his plans with his sister. Tricky.
Chuyun still didn’t grasp the danger. But even if he tried, Lin Waner wouldn’t let him see it.
"This weekend… I have to take Xiao Qi out. Sister Waner, can it be next weekend?" Chuyun asked carefully.
"Fine. But you owe me one extra favor. Whatever I ask—you can’t refuse!"
Chuyun just wanted to please her. She was being so reasonable today, and she’d never hurt him. "Okay, okay—anything."
"Mm, then let’s go home."
Seeing how easily she’d tricked Chuyun into coming over—and secured a promise—Lin Waner beamed. In two weeks, she’d have him all to herself. Then he’d be hers forever.
Chuyun, relieved by her smile, took her hand. They headed home, chatting lightly.
But Lin Waner steered the talk to Xia Shiqi.
"Xiao Yun, Shiqi really hates me," she said, frowning. "I invited her to walk home with us today. She told me to get lost and called me a shameless woman."
Her eyes reddened as she spoke, looking truly hurt.
Chuyun scratched his head. "Xiao Qi’s been extra grumpy lately. Don’t take her words to heart, Sister Waner."
"I won’t, but it stings. We used to be close. She always called me Sister Waner." Lin Waner sighed.
"I’ll fix things with Xiao Qi this week. I don’t think she truly hates me."
"Mm. If not… Xiao Yun, consider what Auntie Shiqi suggested."
"Shiqi argues with you constantly. She might be unhappy too. A new environment could help."
"As long as Xiao Qi wants to stay in this home, I won’t consider her aunt’s offer," Chuyun said firmly. After all, it was just him and his sister now.
"Oh… okay then."
