Chapter 28: An Unwelcome Visitor

Zhang Yemiao slept soundly. She didn't know why, but after her bold move, something inside her relaxed. She rested peacefully.

In stark contrast, Wang Qi endured a torturous night. He tossed and turned in bed, utterly lost on what to do.

The next day, a refreshed Zhang Yemiao met Wang Qi with dark circles under his eyes.

"Wang Qi, why do you look so tired?" Zhang Yemiao asked, puzzled. Had he done something at midnight? Fought monsters without her knowing?

Wang Qi glared. "Don't you know what you did last night?"

"Huh? Me?" Zhang Yemiao wore a bewildered expression. "Could it be... you're smitten?" She smiled teasingly, a hint of shyness in her eyes. "Want another round?"

Wang Qi stepped back, staring at his Dorm Leader in disbelief. Before confessing, she'd blush at the slightest tease. Now, she was so bold, her advances overwhelming.

He felt cornered.

"I—I'll go sleep a bit."

"Can you even sleep?"

"...".

Zhang Yemiao just smiled. Wang Qi couldn't read her thoughts. Were girls in love this sly?

"Come with me for a moment?"

Wang Qi grew wary.

Zhang Yemiao rolled her eyes. "I won't do anything to you."

Wang Qi realized he overreacted. He'd just kept replaying her final kiss from last night. He couldn't forget it. Young man, why so pure-hearted? After silently scolding himself, he followed her.

A long bench stood beside the field—like something from another world. Zhang Yemiao had crafted it from spare wood, though Wang Qi never knew why. She sat on one end, patting the spot beside her. Wang Qi sat without hesitation.

Zhang Yemiao gazed at the field, not at him. "Look at this field. We planted it together... You did most of the work, but I tried hard too."

Wang Qi nodded. True—he spent most days away. Zhang Yemiao, though not strong, had done much.

"This is our home, Wang Qi. My only haven in this world." She suddenly turned, cradling his head. "So don't worry. I just want you. That's all."

She gently pulled. Wang Qi didn't resist, falling back onto her lap.

The exposed skin between her skirt and stockings was tender and smooth, emitting a faint fragrance. Wang Qi felt a little embarrassed.

"Since you lost sleep because of me, let me make it up with a kneepillow!" She massaged his head lightly. He felt incredibly comfortable.

So he fell asleep.

He slept peacefully. Though it seemed like a perk, neither had impure thoughts. Zhang Yemiao simply smiled warmly, watching him.

A breeze carried scents of plants and earth. Feeling his weight on her lap, Zhang Yemiao felt at peace. In this world, this was enough.

If only this moment could last...

But better it didn't.

Truth was, not everyone could give a kneepillow. Even on this comfortable bench, Zhang Yemiao was too delicate. After half an hour, her legs went numb. Without her level 2 stats, they'd have given out already.

Wang Qi slept soundly. She didn't want to wake him. She longed to move, but his Physical Enhancement made him highly sensitive. Any shift would alert him. So she endured.

Near noon, Wang Qi suddenly opened his eyes.

"You're awake?" Zhang Yemiao's voice was calm.

Wang Qi blushed deeply, sitting up. "I fell asleep. Today's training is..." This was his usual training time.

"It's fine. Train this afternoon. We don't need to go to the city. Our small shop lets us open and close as we please."

That made sense.

Wang Qi glanced at her thighs. Even asleep, he recalled that tender touch. If he agreed to be with his Dorm Leader, could he touch them freely?

Zhang Yemiao noticed his gaze. "Want to lie down again?"

"I'm going to train!" Wang Qi shook his head and slipped to his room.

Zhang Yemiao sighed in relief, clutching her numb thighs. She'd almost cried earlier! How she kept that expression... It felt like needles pricking her legs. She couldn't stand up.

She'd need minutes to recover. Silently, she sealed away kneepillows. She'd need level 3 stats to handle it. It worked on Wang Qi, but frequent use would ruin her legs.

Still, Zhang Yemiao was happy. She'd confessed, and this move felt promising. Wang Qi wasn't indifferent—he just had hang-ups. No matter. They had time. Unlike other isekai stories, no urgent threats pressed them. Li Pingtian and Zou Moan seemed rushed, but she and Wang Qi could take it slow. They had reasons to wait.

Meanwhile, in Yinai City, Li Pingtian arrived at Wang Qi's rented stall. He wasn't there.

She looked expressionlessly at the nearby elf.

"Sister, Wang Qi hasn't come since morning. Miss Zhang Yemiao isn't here either. You must be disappointed."

Li Pingtian shook her head, unmoved. She preached doctrines at the stall, but spoke quickly. This method had only worked well the first few days. Now, willing listeners went to church; others ignored her. It ended fast.

Without a word, she left.

"Tsk tsk, youth, eh? I was young once too," the elf lady mused, unconcerned her goods hadn't sold. Elves lived long—they'd seen much.

Li Pingtian didn't return to the church. It meant little to her. She had no faith in the Lord. Her Divine Art Mastery let her trade with Deities—providing faith like a middleman, taking a cut for her power. The church hindered her; she didn't need to show faith for blessings.

So... when to release a "god" like herself? She couldn't do it alone. In a world of true Deities, fabricating one was unthinkable. She needed help.

The Qi Miao Blacksmith Shop? With the Dorm Leader's talent, she could join any smithy, gain resources fast, and level up quickly. Yet she chose to start from zero with Wang Qi... Wasn't she worried?

As she walked, her figure faded from notice. Divine Art—Divine Concealment. Often, Deities descended unseen, visible only to chosen ones. Li Pingtian felt Divine Arts resembled arcane magic.

A white line appeared before her eyes—visible only to her. Divine Art—Divine Knowledge. The more specific the info, the clearer the guidance. It led clerics to their goals. Useless most times, but handy now.

The unseen nun arrived at a small wooden house. Fields surrounded it, crops just sprouting. She heard noises inside.

"Wang Qi, hit here!" Zhang Yemiao called. Wang Qi hammered the glowing iron. "Keep going, this spot! Lighter!"

The door opened. Wang Qi and Zhang Yemiao stood at the anvil, hammers in hand, frozen at the sight. They stopped working.

"What brings you here?" Wang Qi asked.

Zhang Yemiao froze. Wait—she hadn't sent him to the city today. Had Li Pingtian come looking? She glared at Wang Qi.

"Ah! The iron's ruined! We have to restart." Their distraction spoiled the piece.

They set down tools and extinguished the furnace. Wang Qi and Zhang Yemiao exchanged a glance. She went to the kitchen.

"Come, sit." Wang Qi guided Li Pingtian to a living room chair.

Zhang Yemiao returned with teacups and a teapot—crafted from stones, simple but functional. "Here, Pingtian, have tea." She poured and sat beside Wang Qi.
