19. Confronting the Shoe-Licking Freak (

At that moment, Zhang Ting downstairs started shouting again: “Wanqing, just say yes! I won’t give up until you agree!”

I finally understood why Xu Wanqing hated him so much. If I were her, I’d be driven crazy too. My plump roommate sighed helplessly. “President, hide in the dorm for now. That creep won’t dare storm the girls’ dorm. If he tries, we’ll call the cops immediately.”

Xu Wanqing’s delicate brows knotted in anger and frustration. “I have to give a speech with the professors at tonight’s welcome party. Skipping it would definitely upset them.”

“But if you go out, that creep will cling to you like glue. You might not even reach the venue…”

“Damn it! If I knew kung fu, I’d kick his balls right now!”

“Kung fu? Pfft, President, you like wuxia novels too?”

I listened silently, my heart torn. After our last encounter, I still wanted to help a pretty girl—but this was different. Zhang Ting was a national-level martial artist, incredibly strong and agile. Even with magic, I probably couldn’t beat him head-on. That wind blade only hit his groin by luck, barely evening the score.

Besides, I was wearing this flimsy dress—totally unsuitable for fighting. What if my underwear showed… what then?

Seeing my silence, a trace of disappointment flickered in Xu Wanqing’s eyes. She sighed. “Sorry, Tongtong. That creep’s blocking the entrance. I have to hide. You can stay here if you don’t mind.”

Staying in the dorm was fine, but every half-minute, that gross confession from a rough male voice ruined my appetite. I stood up. “I have lots of homework. My parents will worry if I’m late. I shouldn’t bother you, sis.”

“Okay then. Next time, let’s go shopping—you, me, and Wanrou!”

Xu Wanrou only escorted me to the stairwell. I walked down to the lobby. There stood Zhang Ting just outside, holding big balloons spelling “Wanqing, I love you!” He was infamous—girls passing by glared, but no one intervened.

I’d met him before, but back then I wore glasses and a Skin Mask, dressed as a boy—completely different now. He shouldn’t recognize me. I straightened my back, kept my gaze level, and walked briskly out.

Zhang Ting was behind me. I breathed a sigh of relief, planning to grab a taxi at the gate. Walking in a dress still felt awkward. But then, a deep voice called: “Wait.”

I froze. Stop or run? Before I decided, Zhang Ting darted in front, staring intensely. My skin crawled. Did he recognize me as the short guy who injured his balls?

But next moment, he released the balloons. They floated away. He dropped to one knee, eyes burning. “Girl, I love you. Marry me!”

Huh? What the hell?

Zhang Ting seemed aware of his abruptness. “I fell for you at first sight! Yes, I’m your destined prince, you’re my destined princess! Don’t know me? I’m Zhang Ting, 32, a national-level taekwondo athlete…”

My mind was a mess, like crows cawing inside. Wait, wasn’t he obsessed with Xu Wanqing? How did he switch so fast? Seeing the ‘pure-looking girl’ silent, he grew bolder. “I’m single. My place is nearby. Haven’t eaten? Come to my house. I’ll cook for you…”

He grabbed my hand and tried to drag me away. Holy crap! Life-or-death crisis! With his muscles, he was definitely the energetic type. At his place, I’d be like a lamb to the slaughter—definitely not just about cooking. In panic, I screamed: “Help! Someone’s molesting me!”

The shout worked. Curious onlookers gathered. Seeing my face, some guys stepped up. “Hey! This is campus. Let her go!”

“What did you say? You dare interfere?” Zhang Ting’s eyes flashed murder. He lunged with a flying kick. The guy crumpled, writhing. His buddies charged, but they were no match for a pro fighter. One by one, they were kicked aside.

After dealing with them, Zhang Ting realized his ‘destined princess’ had bolted like a rabbit. He chased me.

My fitness had improved, but against a pro athlete? No chance. Plus, these wedge sandals were terrible for running.

He closed in. I gritted my teeth, kicked off both sandals, and sprinted barefoot. I reached the campus gate first, diving into an empty taxi. “Driver, go! Someone’s chasing me!”

The driver was waiting for another passenger, but seeing my anxious face, his chivalrous instinct kicked in. He floored the gas, leaving Zhang Ting choking on exhaust.

“Damn it…” Zhang Ting clenched his fists, watching the car vanish. He retraced his steps, picked up my discarded sandal, sniffed it deeply, then licked it greedily. His eyes glowed red. “You’re my destined princess. I’ll find you… no matter what.”
