Chapter 4: The Awakening

I felt like I’d slept for an eternity, my head throbbing slightly with a dull ache.

My body had recovered a little from that crushing weakness—it no longer took effort just to prop myself up—but I still felt drained.

Ever since arriving in this world, it was as if I’d been slapped with a permanent debuff… Even sprinting a hundred meters might drop me dead from exhaustion. Was MoFei’s little girl body really this frail? The moment I opened my eyes, dizziness crashed over me in waves, stars dancing before my vision…

My mind was blank. I could only stare dumbly at the scenery slowly sharpening out of the darkness.

But…

When my eyes finally focused, I saw a ceiling utterly unfamiliar to me.

Right… Right now, I’d been bound by that Contract…

Memories of the signing surged into my mind like a tidal wave.

Eyes wide with shock, I opened my mouth but no sound came out. I curled into myself, hugging my knees, clinging to the faintest trace of security.

Bound by that Contract… My very thoughts were now partly controlled by that hateful girl. For all I knew, she was already plotting her next move to torment me from inside my own head.

My teeth clenched tight at the thought.

I won’t become a pet! I refuse to be someone’s pet! What a joke! I was a man once—not some caged creature to be toyed with at will!

For now… I just had to endure this shelter.

I looked down at my body. At least I wasn’t naked anymore. That despicable girl must have… Ugh, headache… Master~ No… not that…

Fine. If *she* did it… Yeah. That stops the pain.

But if she changed my clothes… did that mean she’d already… tainted me?

Suddenly, her words during the Contract signing echoed in my mind… Yet I had no way to check my own body. Only a soft, lingering weakness in my wings… Had she played with me for so long?

And my stomach growled. A shamefully loud *gurgle* escaped it.

I shook my head hard, banishing these thoughts.

A breeze drifted through the window, carrying the scent of unknown blossoms. Moonlight dim yet brilliant, flowers twined like delicate lace, silent yearning under the glow, butterflies dancing in graceful spirals.

But shadows swallowed lonely forms; memories faded like mist. Gazing into the void, tears blurred the heavens—no one remembered.

Stars shone bright, blooms painted the night sky, yet amidst the chaos, old days vanished with the cicadas’ song. Who knew my heart wept in silence, vision swimming?

Tears held flowers like a kaleidoscope. Homesick beneath the quiet night, I reached out—but the cold moonlight stayed cruelly out of reach.

"Look, the little one’s awake."

"Wings still trembling… so cute."

Beyond the window’s nostalgic view, something else had caught my attention long ago.

Even while I slept, those girls in maid uniforms had been watching me from the doorway. What was so fascinating about me?

Noticing my gaze, they slipped inside, curiosity in their voices: "Um… little one? Hungry? We have candy…"

"Ignore her! Big sister’s got fruit here…"

Hey… Why were they looking at me like I was a stray kitten begging for treats?

And… though they called themselves "big sisters," the oldest seemed barely sixteen. The youngest couldn’t be more than ten. Did that girl have a thing for loli maids?
