Not a trace of sound came from the quiet room. Then, with a calm expression, Lorin silently nodded and steadily agreed, as if accepting something utterly ordinary.

"Hmm, let’s begin."

Lorin slowly rose from his seat and moved closer to Kevin, who sat on the bed. His face even showed a hint of concern, as if he weren’t the one about to have his magic drained.

As the soft bed trembled slightly, the distance between them closed rapidly. Kevin helplessly averted her gaze, then turned her pale blue eyes toward Lorin. Her eyes brimmed with incomprehension.

After all, she couldn’t grasp Lorin’s thoughts. Why so readily give magic to a stranger? Didn’t he fear trouble? Without magic, one was just a lamb led to slaughter.

"Lorin, are you out of your mind?" Kevin blurted out, her tone laced with confusion. She then looked at him with a pitying gaze.

"Huh? No, Miss Kevin, why are you suddenly scolding me?" Lorin stood frozen, utterly bewildered. Having no idea why he was scolded, he hurriedly explained.

"I mean, we’ve only known each other days. Giving me your magic like this—aren’t you afraid something might happen? Last time, I was in a good mood and spared you after draining your magic, but—" Kevin muttered earnestly, her tone dead serious. As an elder, she felt she should guide youngsters properly; otherwise, they might end up like her, nearly not making it back. But Lorin cut her off mid-sentence.

"Miss Kevin, I understand everything you said. But deep down, my heart tells me you’re someone I can trust. That’s all." Lorin placed a hand gently on his chest. Every word seemed heartfelt, his tone brimming with sincerity. Any ordinary girl would’ve been utterly smitten by now.

But she was Kevin Jaeger.

"Huh?" A distorted, furious expression flashed across Kevin’s exquisite face, vanishing instantly as if nothing happened. After calming slightly, she said slowly, "Since you put it that way, I see no need to hold back."

She emphasized the last words heavily. Her eyes smiled, yet carried a hint of killing intent.

"Right, Lorin?"

"?" Lorin couldn’t follow her train of thought. Perhaps he simply didn’t understand girls. But the smiling Kevin before him made him uneasy.

Screams echoed in the room, accompanied by flashing magical lights that soon faded.

Kevin touched her soft abdomen with slender fingers, feeling magic churn within. She then looked at Lorin, sprawled on the bed, drained and barely moving. Her tone was full of praise. "Not bad, kid. For your age, you’ve got quite a lot of magic. Back in my day, with your magic, I wouldn’t have been chased by goblins."

Kevin moved quietly to sit on the sofa. Closing her eyes slowly, she sank into thought, then inquired within her mind.

"System, why can’t my body restore magic? Won’t you explain? Or is this your doing?"

【Host, please complete the task first.】

"System, you explain first, then I’ll go."

【Host, please complete the task first.】

"You—explain—first—then—I’ll—go."

【—Querying—】

【Host, analysis shows your body has no issues. The system only modified your body, not replaced it. Using your body as material and the memory of Manna Suhuali as a blueprint, it performed modifications. This is still your original body. The magic restoration failure stems from psychological resistance—likely your unwillingness to accept becoming female.】

"Is that so?" Kevin slowly opened her eyes. In her heart, she’d already planned to uninstall this damn system after regaining her original body. Her rosy lips moved slightly as she murmured, "Time to handle a personal matter."

As the words left her mouth, Kevin vanished from the room as if she’d never been there. Only lingering magic particles confirmed the spell.

The next moment.

A loud sonic boom echoed. In a pitch-black forest clearing flattened by magic, a stunningly beautiful woman stood at the epicenter—undoubtedly Kevin Jaeger.

"It’s been ages since I used magic so freely." Kevin sighed contentedly. She felt disdain toward the Seventh Rank monster’s aura nearby. Something like that? She could swat it away with a single slap. No need to tense up.

The system’s glitchy sound echoed again.

【Host, kindly reminded: 300m ahead lies a promising monster egg. It will be of great use. Let it become your partner and grow together.】

As the words faded, a towering peak nearby shifted—it was a powerful Seventh Rank monster, sensing Kevin’s arrival.

"System, you call that thing an egg?" Kevin shook her head, convinced this system was seriously flawed.

【Confirmed. Host, please hatch it properly.】

"This is—"

【Confirmed. It is an egg. Host, stop unnecessary talk.】

The towering monster interrupted Kevin’s bickering.

"Humans are truly overconfident. I suppose I’ll just kill you all. Hahaha."

After some time passed.

"Hahaha, keep going." Kevin held a small black dog lightly in her slender hand, swinging it in the air. Her eyes were full of disdain. If the system hadn’t forbidden killing this monster, she would’ve acted already. She added cheerfully, "Why so quiet?"

"Human—no, kind adventurer, spare me! I’m just a little dog!" The monster acted cute. This female human was overwhelmingly powerful; in a single encounter, it had been reduced to its true form without seeing her move.

"That won’t work on me. But I’ve thought of your greatest use." Kevin seemed to plot something unpleasant.

【Special task completed.】
