Chapter 13: Long Time No See

"Miss Kevin, is there something you can't say here?"

Though Lorin said that, his body honestly followed her. His leather shoes clacked against the steps. After all, he’d inexplicably trailed Miss Kevin—so her small request was only natural.

Ahead, Kevin walked without responding, moving slowly on her own. Her bare feet gently trod the old wooden stairs, making no sound, only releasing a faint, delicate fragrance.

"Miss Kevin, are you listening?"

Thinking she hadn’t heard, Lorin repeated it. Still, no reply came—only the constant rhythm of footsteps in his ears. His gaze then drifted unconsciously to the stunning woman before him.

He couldn’t help but think: this simple white dress suited Miss Kevin perfectly. Far better than that bulky robe she’d worn before.

The Kevin before him wore a dress clinging tightly to her fair skin, accentuating her flawless figure. With each step, the hem swayed, revealing tantalizing glimpses of her calves.

Deep down, he still fiercely resisted cross-dressing. If extra clothes existed, he’d never wear women’s attire at all.

They walked in silence. Soon, they reached the spacious room. Kevin turned leisurely, her light blue eyes locking onto Lorin nearby. In a warning tone, she said:

"I’ll remind you one last time: leave now, and I’ll pretend nothing happened, Mr. Lorin."

"Miss Kevin, I’m here to protect you. A girl alone outside can easily get into trouble. I have absolutely no other intentions."

Lorin lightly tapped his chest as he guaranteed it. His eyes held not a trace of malice, as if he truly meant it.

"Oh, come on."

Kevin’s tone was calm as still water. Years of adventuring told her Lorin wouldn’t randomly offer protection. Eighty percent chance he was after her body.

Thinking this, she sighed softly. Then, with her slender hand, she gently pushed open the heavy door.

As it creaked open, the unfastened window in the cozy room spilled sunset light across Kevin’s exquisite face. She looked instantly divine.

At that moment, Lorin felt utterly captivated—a sensation he’d never known in sixty years.

"What’s wrong?" Seeing no response from Lorin behind her, Kevin turned back. Their eyes met again.

"No, nothing. By the way, Miss Kevin, is there something you need?"

Realizing his rudeness, Lorin quickly composed himself. He strode briskly into the clean, tidy room and replied confidently.

Kevin still didn’t respond. She silently moved to the soft bed and slowly sat down under Lorin’s gaze. Her rosy lips parted slightly as she commanded:

"Mr. Lorin, come here. I need your help with something. You won’t refuse, will you?"

As soon as she finished, the heavy door slammed shut. The echo filled the quiet room, turning the atmosphere tense.

"Okay." Lorin agreed without hesitation. Miss Kevin must truly need help—he’d promised to protect her.

He moved closer and sat beside her on the soft bed. They were so near he could feel her breath.

"Hmm, not bad." Kevin felt powerful magical fluctuations beside her and couldn’t help but praise. Such reserves at Seventh Rank were rare. Her plan could proceed.

A barely perceptible smile touched her exquisite face, as if plotting mischief. She extended her slender hand and gently placed it on Lorin’s firm abdomen. With a faint magical flash, she used a touch of forbidden magic.

"Miss Kevin, what are you going to do—"

Lorin hadn’t finished when dizziness hit him. Something felt drained from his body. Instantly, strength vanished—he collapsed onto the bed, unconscious.

"Have a good sleep. But thank you."

Kevin rose leisurely, feeling magic brim through her veins. She looked down at Lorin, drained and unconscious, and thanked him softly.

She stood in place, her ankle lightly tapping the floor, as if recalling something crucial. Then she swiped the air to open her magic space.

"Oh, I can’t take your magic for free."

Precious gems soon surrounded Lorin, gleaming under the newly lit room lights. Kevin nodded in satisfaction.

After all, her magic space held only fine wine and gems. Anything else was useless—long discarded or sold.

"Time to act."

Kevin felt the stars outside grow hazy. She moved to the window, gazing into the distance. Her magic spread like sound waves as she murmured:

"Elise Osman—confirm her location. Recite my lines in front of her, then make a quick escape."

She soon pinpointed it: a hidden villa in the city. But it was odd—the intel said Elise Osman was only Sixth Rank.

"Strange. How did she survive at just Sixth Rank? Or did she use special methods to extend her life?"

Kevin couldn’t figure it out. She’d investigate in person—seeing her would reveal the truth.

……………………

Outside, leaves swayed incessantly. The long-unopened window creaked open, carrying in waves of a delicate, youthful fragrance.

Elise lying on the bed seemed to sense the visitor. She opened her cloudy eyes, gazing at the familiar yet unfamiliar figure at the window. In a hoarse voice, she spoke:

"Long time no see, Kevin."

"Yes. Long time no see."

After a hundred years apart, they met again. A thousand words condensed into those four.
