Slice!

Amid the sharp cutting sound, the man in tattered armor’s expression froze instantly.

Those curving sword beams swept past his body at blinding speed.

They shredded him into hundreds of fragments in an instant.

Rayelle dropped the chain in her hand and dashed forward.

She tore apart the flesh tendrils sprouting out to escape.

Aerin and Rayelle followed up with a magnificent sword beam and a super-weakened Dragon Breath.

They reduced him to dust.

In a blink, not even ash remained of the armored man.

Rayelle clapped her hands, landed softly, and cast a pitying glance at the scattered ashes.

Though he was Third Rank, his opponents were merely low-level.

Sadly, both were overpowered freaks.

Aerin, the original protagonist, had the protagonist aura and the Holy Sword’s guaranteed hit.

Rayelle, the former antagonist who rivaled such freaks, needed no magic.

Her pure physical combat alone could crush him.

He died without complaint.

“Alright, let the city guards handle this guy’s remains,” Aerin said.

She sheathed the Holy Sword and hurried to Rayelle.

Scooping her up like a doll, she rubbed and kneaded her (meow).

“Rayelle, let me check if you’re hurt!”

Aerin stroked Rayelle’s little head and gently squeezed her plump, petite body.

Though claiming to check wounds, Rayelle felt Aerin was taking liberties.

Scheming lolicon!

But after their perfect teamwork, Rayelle didn’t resist.

Aerin’s touch was skilled, gentle, and surprisingly comfortable.

After a moment, Rayelle peeked out and looked at Chriss nearby.

The evacuation order had cleared all civilians long ago.

Chriss sat alone, staring blankly, not fully recovered from the shock.

Though distant, Rayelle faintly saw Chriss’s pale face.

“Sister Aerin, I want to check on Chriss. She looks unwell.”

Rayelle weakly poked Aerin’s arm and whispered.

Aerin nodded, released her, and followed Rayelle to Chriss.

“Chriss, don’t be afraid. It’s over. No one will eat you now.”

Rayelle held Chriss’s trembling body, stroking her gently to soothe her.

Chriss felt the kindness, nodded slightly, and nuzzled closer.

A hint of jasmine fragrance filled the air—her unique young-girl scent.

“Thank you…” Chriss’s voice sounded hoarse.

Rayelle held her, glancing at the distant clock.

Less than half an hour had passed; ten minutes remained.

But Chriss’s condition worsened, her breathing ragged.

Rayelle worried she was badly frightened.

Better to send her home early.

“Be good, don’t fear…”

Rayelle rubbed Chriss’s head and patted her back, soothing her as before.

Aerin watched briefly, then lifted the evacuation order.

She helped city guards clear corpses and debris.

“Whimper…”

Chriss huddled in Rayelle’s arms, trembling and sobbing quietly.

She truly seemed terrified.

Silence fell. Rayelle sensed a familiar presence approaching.

She looked up.

Chloe stood before her.

Seeing Chriss’s state, sadness and quiet determination flickered in Chloe’s eyes.

Turning to Rayelle, her face softened with gratitude.

“Rayelle, thank you for protecting little Chriss.”

Chloe stepped forward and bowed sincerely.

Rayelle flustered, waving her hands to stop her.

“Chriss had a relapse from the shock. I must take her back.”

Chloe half-squatted, arms open for a hug.

Rayelle understood, placing Chriss into her arms.

Chloe gave Rayelle a final nod and turned away.

In a blink, she and Chriss vanished.

Rayelle stood dazed, touching her hand.

A trace of Chriss’s scent lingered.

She snapped back as city guards rushed in, sealing the area.

Ignoring them, Rayelle walked to Aerin’s side.

Aerin stared at the armored man’s remains, studying something.

“Sister Aerin? What are you looking at?”

Rayelle followed her gaze. Blood-soaked paper fragments lay there.

“What are these?”

Curious, Rayelle picked them up.

“I don’t know, but it’s bothering me,” Aerin murmured.

She flipped the scraps, then widened her eyes.

Rayelle frowned too.

The Chaos Sect’s symbol marked the paper.

This note was tied to the Chaos Sect.

“Rayelle, let me see.”

“Mm.”

Rayelle handed over the scraps.

Aerin quickly pieced them together.

Serpentine crimson characters writhed on the bloodstained paper, hissing faintly.

Rayelle noticed the man’s tainted blood vanishing from it.

The hidden magic formula was devouring it.

Rayelle narrowed her eyes, reading carefully.

“October 7th, northern outskirts of Bonn City: Chaos Sect initiation test. Prepare a supernaturally tainted heart. Time: midnight. Address: …”

Both their eyes lit up after reading.

This recruitment notice detailed the test time, address, and requirements.

The armored man had carried it—he planned to join.

Rayelle memorized the details silently.

Aerin tucked the note into her bosom.

Each had private thoughts, unaware their minds aligned.

“Rayelle, Aerin, can you help me?”

Chloe reappeared before them.

“Chloe?”

Dressed in a black robe, Chloe approached worriedly.

Her gaze fixed on wounded civilians carried by guards.

The battle’s building collapses had caught many innocents.

“I’ll heal them, but they’re too many and scattered. Help me gather them here.”

After a pause, both nodded.

They wanted to protect Chloe—no risks for her.
