"I'll get you an identity as a Highborn Demon, alright?" Headmistress said helplessly, watching Luo Yu roll on the ground, crying and wailing.
Luo Yu’s sorrow vanished instantly. She sprang up: "Deal."
"First, fetch my wheelchair," Headmistress groaned, hunching over to rub her back. Her voice carried a hint of sadness: "Childless and old, still worrying over kids like this..."
She dozed off standing for a moment. When she opened her eyes again, Luo Yu had already rushed back with the wheelchair—flung from a nearby trash bin—and hurled it straight at her face.
"Whoa!"
Barely dodging the assault, Headmistress dropped her playful mood and slowly settled back into the wheelchair.
She smoothed her casual robes and turned to Luo Yu: "Take me to the Central Building."
"Yay!"
Luo Yu gripped the wheelchair handles, thrilled. "Robot, max speed—180 miles per hour! Give this old geezer some thrill!"
Training Dummy: "..."
"Hold on."
Headmistress twisted around, slapping Luo Yu’s hand firmly. Calmly: "Just walk normally."
...
After a short detour around the academy and onto the streets, guided by Headmistress, they reached a grand stone building. Its retro design oozed prestige.
Two demon sorcerers in stern guard uniforms stood at the entrance.
Spotting a typical Lower Demon approaching, they drew longswords from their waists. Blades crossed, they blocked the door as routine.
Luo Yu stepped forward, ready to fight. Headmistress grabbed her arm, then pulled a silvery-gray metal plaque from her robe. She handed it to one guard.
The guard’s expression shifted instantly. He silently returned the plaque, sheathed his sword, and urged them inside.
Luo Yu tried to joke her way in behind them. Headmistress waved her off again.
This time, his face was dead serious—angrier than Luo Yu had ever seen.
She shrank back slightly, forcing a joke: "This generous Emperor forgives you. Let it slide."
She crouched by the door, chatting with the Training Dummy while waiting.
Around noon, Headmistress finally wheeled out. Her face looked even older.
But her left hand clutched something that caught Luo Yu’s eye.
"Old geezer! How’d it go?" Luo Yu dashed over, grabbing Headmistress’s collar and shaking her wildly. "Hurry up, hurry up..."
"Stop shaking! I’ll be buried for real!" Headmistress pried her off and shoved the item into her hands. "Here."
"What’s this junk?" Luo Yu snatched it, holding it up to the sunlight. Her brow furrowed immediately.
The Training Dummy leaned in. In Luo Yu’s palm lay a silvery-white metal plaque—nearly identical to the one shown to the guards.
Luo Yu’s name was clearly engraved on it.
"This is your Highborn Demon ID," Headmistress said, stroking her beard. She took the plaque, threading it onto a thin cord. "Bow your head. Time for authorization."
"Oh... okay." Luo Yu hesitated, then slowly lowered her head, anticipation flickering in her eyes.
In a flash, the plaque hung around her neck.
"I’m a Highborn Demon now?" Luo Yu exclaimed, thrilled.
"Well..." Headmistress scratched her head, hesitating. "I suppose so."
"What do you mean ‘suppose’?" Luo Yu stomped on her feet twice, eyes blazing. "I, Emperor Luo Yu, awakened my Noble Bloodline and golden finger! Why wouldn’t I qualify?"
"Ah..." Headmistress kept scratching her head, muttering inwardly: *I never even mentioned the Fairy Kind thing to my old friend. This plaque’s just an empty title, slapped on randomly...*
Seeing Headmistress’s uneasy expression and fidgeting body, Luo Yu’s excitement dimmed. She stared at the plaque. "You’re scamming me, old geezer?"
"Ahahaha..."
Headmistress laughed awkwardly, then snapped serious. "My strength, Xiao Yu—you know it. In my youth, I rose through the Demon King’s Army on merit. Retired straight to Headmistress of this academy. Power like mine? Easy to handle small things like this. Especially with your Noble Bloodline."
"True." Luo Yu accepted the explanation, worries fading.
She threw her hands up, ecstatic. "The sword’s edge comes from sharpening! Plum blossoms bloom through bitter cold! My life’s turnaround starts right now!"
Headmistress: "Glad you’re happy."
"Now that I’m officially recognized," Luo Yu declared, hands on hips, eyes practically glowing, "you know what comes next. I’m bursting to show off. If I don’t flex soon, I’ll die. Heaven made all things to nurture man—"
"Xiao Yu," Headmistress patted the girl’s shoulder as she pointed dramatically skyward. "Listen. This plaque isn’t exactly—"
"Hmm?"
Luo Yu frowned, slapping away the old hand. She yanked the plaque at her neck, flaunting it. "How dare you address a Highborn Demon? Call me ‘Emperor Luo Yu’!"
Headmistress: "..."
"Fine, fine. I’ll spare you some respect, old geezer." Luo Yu spun around and sprinted toward the academy, voice trailing: "I, Luo Yu, am a Highborn Demon now! From today, countless girls will adore me! Absolutely..."
"..."
"..."
Watching the girl vanish, Headmistress leaned back in her wheelchair, humming a tune contentedly.
The Training Dummy pushed her chair from behind. "Highborn Demons have lineages stretching thousands of years. It’s not that simple to become one."
"True," Headmistress sighed, enjoying the push. "Many Lower Demons have diluted Noble Bloodline ancestry. Over generations, it fades. Demon status isn’t about blood—it’s power and family. Reach the strength, even a purebred mongrel sorcerer gets Highborn rights."
"But," she added, gaze dropping, "those who climbed by strength in youth? When power fades with age and no family backs them... status plummets. Like me. My authority’s hollow now—just a figurehead Headmistress. Can’t do a thing. Barely clinging to a Witch’s favor, and she rarely listens."
The Training Dummy pondered: "Then why give my master a useless plaque?"
"Her happiness is enough. I don’t care if Luo Yu’s fate line is tangled by Demonic Gods or deities. I’ll still fight for her." Headmistress smiled softly. "Xiao Yu fears nothing. Last year, when that terrifying, high-ranking enemy came to threaten me? Only she—the most confident kid in the academy—stood in his way for me."
She chuckled. "I even lied to my old friend, calling Luo Yu my daughter. With this plaque, she won’t get blocked at certain places."
"You’re nearly buried anyway," the Training Dummy jabbed. "Might as well gift your favorite girl something. If you were eighty years younger, you could actually date a pure-hearted girl like Luo Yu. Too bad, old geezer. You’ll be dust soon. Some young stud will sweep her off her feet..."
"..." Headmistress frowned. "Why are you as sharp-tongued as your master?"
