Chapter 4: My World Crumbled to Dust
update icon Updated at 2025/12/10 17:30:41

My breath hitched with excitement, chest rising and falling rapidly. Xinran’s hand still pressed against my chest—how could I *not* feel that?

“Hmm…?”

Crap. She’s suspicious! If I wake up now, Xinran will kill me in her embarrassment! After finally hearing my little sister call me “brother,” I can’t die like this!

As I desperately stayed still, praying *Please don’t realize I’m awake!*, the pressure on my chest vanished. Then, the softest voice whispered in my ear: “Ah… I accidentally pressed on your chest, I’m sorry… It must’ve been uncomfortable… Let me rub it for you?” Her hand, still resting there, began to gently knead my chest. Every careful motion radiated Xinran’s tender concern.

…See? Life’s so strange. Sometimes you live long enough to witness the impossible… Ha… ha… ha…

A sister this gentle… it’s like a dream.

The shock left me dazed. I didn’t even notice when Xinran slipped away.

The dampness from her kiss lingered on my cheek. Sleep? Impossible. Not after *that*.

My little sister! She actually—*cough cough cough!*—actually—

“…Heh heh…”

I forced a dry chuckle, sitting up to stare blankly at the sunlight streaming through the window.

Terrifying. A nightmare worse than any nightmare… I never imagined she’d do *that* to me.

Judging by how practiced she seemed—and that weird sense of familiarity—she’d clearly done this “night raid” countless times before…

Wait. Does that mean I’m not…?

No. Impossible. She’s my blood sister. Xinran’s not reckless. She wouldn’t cross that line.

But her actions were too intimate.

So intimate it didn’t make me happy—it scared me. Like a stranger suddenly showering me with overwhelming affection. I couldn’t handle it.

What’s going on? If Xinran really has a brother complex, why’s she so cold normally…? A kink?

So… that title was right? But that *(Fake)* part… what the hell?

Heart heavy, I got out of bed. The untouched cup of coffee caught my eye.

How did Xinran *know* I was asleep? It was past 2 AM—I might’ve stayed up! Unless… she slipped sleeping pills into this…?

“…”

Silently, I shook my head, dumped the coffee into the trash, then stuffed wads of tissue on top to soak it up. Yeah… it looked suspiciously like trash from *excessive solo sessions*, but I had to hide the fact I hadn’t drunk it.

Forget last night. Pretend it never happened. Xinran must’ve been stressed. I’ll talk to her later.

Right now, I just need to wash up, make breakfast, and be the normal older brother.

I drew the curtains and headed downstairs. At this hour, my sisters were still asleep.

After washing up, I entered the kitchen. Ingredients were prepped—Mom must’ve left them last night. I just needed to cook. Since I also had to make lunch bento boxes, it’d take time. But only two portions: I ate at the cafeteria anyway.

As I finished the bentos and started breakfast, a tiny, hesitant voice piped up behind me—so soft I almost missed it:

“B-Brother? Why didn’t you come back last night…? Where were you?”

That sweet, shy tone could only belong to one person.

“Huh? Oh, Keling! I fell asleep in the park by accident. Heh… sorry to worry you—*huh?!*”

I turned with a bright smile to greet my other sister, Anke Ling—but froze mid-sentence.

My petite sister stood hunched, looking up at me. And hovering right above her short twin-tails—perfectly at eye level—was a line of pink text:

**[Scheming Brother-Complex Little Sister (Real)]**

**[Anke Ling]**

So it’s true. Keling had a name and title too. The name was fine. But the title… not “Obedient-Type,” not “Gentle-Type,” not “Adorable-Type.”

*Scheming-Type.*

She was *scheming*?!

No way!

My sweet Keling—*scheming*?! Ridiculous! The sister who always blushed and smiled when I came home, who made this invisible guy feel seen, who handed me chopsticks and poured my water… *Oof!*

The words “scheming” and “brother complex” stabbed my heart like spears. My mental self coughed up blood.

Right then, my world shattered. My entire worldview crumbled.

“…!!!”

That perfectly obedient sister… was it all an act?!

No! I refuse to believe it!

“B-Brother? Are you okay? You look awful… Did you not sleep?”

Keling stepped closer, worry etched on her face.

But all I saw was a sneering phantom behind that concern, hissing: *“Hmph. Give you an inch, and you’re over the moon. Stuck with a hopeless brother like you… disgusting.”*

M-My sweet little sister… hates me too…? I… I just want to die…

“What are you doing?”

Xinran’s icy voice jolted me out of my despair.

“N-Nothing! Just stayed up late. Breakfast’ll be ready soon…”

“Really? You look sick, Brother.”

“I’m fine, really.”

Keling still looked worried. I forced a smile, waved her off, and turned back to the stove.

I couldn’t let them see my shattered expression.

Breakfast passed in a daze. Everything since waking up in the park felt unreal—my brain had crashed.

Even stepping out the front door, I moved like a zombie. My supposedly cold sister was a hardcore brother-complex maniac who night-raided me. My supposedly sweet, gentle sister was a scheming mastermind…

I… I… I don’t believe in this world anymore!
