Chapter 21: Concert?! Why All the Fuss?
update icon Updated at 2025/12/23 19:30:02

"Concert!!" Rosen and Yuhan He exclaimed simultaneously.

But one wore a heavy, silent expression, deep in thought. The other beamed with excitement, practically jumping out of her skin.

"Really? A concert?" Yuhan He asked Darknight eagerly.

"That’s right—a concert. Ordered personally by our City Lord," Darknight replied. Seeing her so thrilled, he felt eighty percent of his goal was already accomplished.

"Yay!"

Lin Ming heard Yuhan He’s excited shout. He turned from the sofa, staring in astonishment at her dancing with joy.

Is it really that big a deal? If you’re excited about going out to play, fine—you’ve been cooped up here for days. But why this over-the-top excitement now?

You’re a Songstress. Concerts should be routine for you.

And Rosen—your gaze feels off. Your young mistress is that excited, yet you look so grim!

"Uh, hey! How do we get there? When’s it held? Where’s the venue? Do you know?" Yuhan He asked, eyes sparkling after her excitement faded.

Darknight smiled at her, replying precisely, "I’m Darknight, miss. I’m just delivering the message. For details, please accompany me to the City Lord’s Mansion."

"Alright, to the City Lord’s Mansion!" Yuhan He agreed excitedly.

"Young mistress! No!" Rosen cried anxiously.

Hearing this, Yuhan He gave him a wronged look. "Grandpa, why?"

"There might be dan—" Rosen started, but his words choked off.

The City Lord’s Mansion was the safest place in Wind City. If danger lurked there, nowhere would be secure.

Darknight smoothly interjected, "Mr. Rosen, what worries you? Danger? Don’t be ridiculous. His Excellency the City Lord is an A Rank expert. No danger exists."

"Well… alright then," Rosen conceded helplessly.

He always used "danger" as an excuse with Yuhan He. Claiming even the Mansion was unsafe would plainly forbid her outing. Seeing her hurt expression, he had no choice. Only he knew why she couldn’t roam freely.

"Thank you, Grandpa!" Yuhan He’s downcast face instantly bloomed into a dazzling smile. Everyone froze—especially the two Guards, who nearly drooled.

Lin Ming watched that smile, slipping into reminiscence. He almost saw that white silhouette smiling at him again.

But he snapped back instantly. That person was never returning.

Rosen saw that smile and glimpsed Yuhan He’s childhood innocence. It was that "Grandpa" that had pulled her from "that place," protecting her ever since. He knew he must shield this joy.

Darknight was stunned too, then sighed inwardly: *No wonder she’s the wandering Songstress. But how long will that smile last?*

Darknight stood from the sofa, waving. "Since you agreed, follow me to the City Lord’s Mansion. A car awaits downstairs."

"Grandpa, let’s go!" Yuhan He chirped happily.

"Alright," Rosen smiled.

"This way, please," Darknight led them with a grin.

"Ouch!" Lin Ming suddenly yelped. He scrambled up from the sofa. "Oh! If you two are going, I’m coming too. Effeminate guy—lead the way!"

"Lin—" Yuhan He began, but Rosen stopped her. He knew it was awkward with the young mistress present. Lin Ming had no such restraint.

"Who are you calling effeminate?!" Darknight roared, furious.

"Huh? Aren’t you?" Lin Ming stared in surprise.

"Of course not!" Darknight ground out.

Lin Ming eyed him up and down, then nodded. "You’re right! You *are* effeminate! So much yin energy—zero manly charm."

"What yin energy? This is from my cul—" Darknight fumed, almost blurting secrets.

He cut himself off mid-sentence. Coldly glaring at Lin Ming, he realized—*He’s fishing for info!*

"Cultivating what?" Lin Ming shouted, eyebrow twitching.

Darknight forced calm, laughing awkwardly. "Cul… fixing the AC. Got it from that, ahahaha."

"Tch. Yin energy from an AC repair? Total rookie," Lin Ming scoffed, shooting him a disdainful look.

Darknight’s temper flared, but he reined it in. He pointed to a Guard. "You—take them to the car downstairs. I need to cool off."

"Yes, sir."

"Follow me, everyone!" the Guard led Lin Ming’s group.

"Let’s go!" Yuhan He cheered, dashing ahead first. She didn’t know why Rosen had silenced her earlier—but excitement drowned her doubts.

"Let’s go," Lin Ming smiled slightly at Rosen, joining Yuhan He.

Rosen nodded, following.

After they left, Darknight’s face turned grim. He ordered the remaining Guard, "Cancel their room. And pull up their Duel Arena fight footage."

"Yes, sir."

As the Guard reached the door, Darknight added, "Tell them—any compensation claims go to the City Lord’s Mansion."

"Yes!" The puzzled Guard hurried out.

The moment the door closed, earth-shattering curses, roars, and crashing sounds erupted!

"Go to hell, effeminate guy! Your whole damn family’s effeminate!" "Yin energy my ass! Screw you!"

The furious ranting terrified the Guard outside, scaring him half to death.

Now he understood: Darknight sent compensation claims to the Mansion to vent his rage—by trashing the entire room!

The Guard dared not linger. He rushed off to complete his tasks.

Minutes later, Darknight exited. His still-gloomy face betrayed his turmoil. "Lin Ming, huh? Don’t give me an opening—or I’ll end you."

The grimness vanished instantly. He plastered on a smile, striding toward the hotel entrance.

Lin Ming’s group reached the lobby with the Guard. A luxury car waited. Rosen and Yuhan He headed straight for it; the Guard opened the doors.

Only Lin Ming stared at the vehicle, lips twitching. Slowly, words squeezed out:

"Damn rich bastard."
