When Bai Ming had no clue about Bai Ruoshui’s abduction, he wouldn’t even entertain thoughts about his sister’s safety. Logically speaking, his sister’s kind-hearted nature meant kidnappers might be moved by her words and release her.

He refused to consider "worst-case scenarios." Toying with such thoughts just to please others was sheer stupidity.

Yet when the man before him declared, "You’ve come to save your sister?" while flaunting his power, Bai Ming exhaled in relief.

At least he’d been right—Bai Ruoshui wasn’t in immediate danger.

*Heh heh heh... One look at your face tells me everything. Restless. Furious. Panicked. Terrified... You’re making humanity look pathetic, human.*

The instant Bai Ming attacked, the man not only yanked his black spear from the ground but reappeared behind him.

Fast? That word had lost all meaning. It was as if time itself granted him extra seconds against Bai Ming.

"*Human*?"

Bai Ming turned slowly, his voice low and gravelly. Rage had clouded his mind earlier—he hadn’t caught the slip.

*Ah... So you’re like that other one. A werewolf.*

Bai Ming had already pieced together the black-clad man’s identity. Connecting the dots led to only one culprit today: the werewolves.

"Did I accidentally kick your den?"

"How dare a lowly inferior species use that word? *Dens* are for beasts like you. Weaklings huddle together to defy the strong, yet each secretly clings to the intoxication of power they once felt. Your arrogance is your own downfall."

The man leveled his spear at Bai Ming, grievances spilling endlessly.

"Since when did you become a philosopher?"

"This isn’t philosophy—it’s proven fact. Just seeing you makes me picture all of humanity’s stupidity so vividly I could vomit."

He poised to drive the spear through Bai Ming’s body. It wouldn’t be enough. His boss had called this human "dangerous," yet he seemed clumsy, helpless. Had he not held back, Bai Ming would’ve been impaled during his first lunge.

*Not so impressive after all.* He smirked. "So. You came for your sister?"

"Impressive research. You knew she was my sister. With that tech, why not find me directly? Why drag innocents into this?"

"*Innocents*?"

The man’s hand trembled slightly at Bai Ming’s words.

"Ah, yes—in *your* eyes. But to us? Anyone who crosses us drags their family, friends, even bosses or teachers into the fire. If you feared trouble, you shouldn’t have acted. Blame your own lack of foresight."

In his view, Bai Ming should’ve weighed consequences before interfering. Since he hadn’t, the price was paid: his sister snatched from home in broad daylight within seven hours.

"...You’re right."

Bai Ming sighed softly, raising his right hand and clenching it into a fist.

"Had I overthought it back then, things wouldn’t have reached this point. But..."

A familiar, wordless ache surged within him—the ache of his past life as a human, as Bai Ruoshui’s brother.

"Back in my day, everyone in this line of work had fire in their veins. ‘*Move before you think*’—that’s how we lived."

[Potential Unleashed 10%]

Bai Ming stared unblinkingly at the black-clad man, his prominent front teeth biting into bloodless lips. He stood frozen like stone, only his nostrils flaring almost imperceptibly betraying the small, pained heart hammering in his chest.

*Ugh. That detestable feeling again.*

"'Hero'... how utterly revolting."
