Worldline Arc (III): I Shall Sever the K
update icon Updated at 2025/12/11 7:00:02

My hands trembled as I stared at the black notebook. It meticulously listed girls’ names, personal preferences, family backgrounds—every intimate detail.

This body I now inhabited belonged to a total scumbag. My decades-long mindset recoiled, utterly unable to accept it.

Logically, being male now should’ve made this easy—even enjoyable. I ought to play the role perfectly.

But this harem nonsense? I couldn’t stomach it. Not one bit.

The evidence was undeniable: my parallel-world self was a top-tier scumbag.

Freshly reborn me might’ve envied this life.

But now? I despised harems. Not just because my thoughts leaned feminine—but that cursed trait of being adored by everyone made the very idea unbearable.

Since I’d taken over this rotten existence, I’d fix it. Starting now.

I gripped the notebook, resolve hardening in my eyes.

Time to end these toxic ties. Though with so many girls… this’d be grueling.

How many hearts had that bastard broken? Making amends seemed impossible.

A headache bloomed. Still—I had addresses. I’d visit each girl, explain everything, and sever these twisted bonds.

Decision made. I tore out every page with girls’ details, stuffing them into my pocket.

From my room, I grabbed dark sunglasses and a baseball cap.

After a moment’s thought, I put them on.

Honestly, being this popular forced me to disguise myself outdoors. Without it? Endless strangers would swarm me, paralyzing my every move.

Disguised, I slipped out of the house, tiptoeing into the dawn-lit street.

The sky was barely light. Few pedestrians wandered the unfamiliar roads. My confidence wavered.

*Ugh… I’ve never been here before. Can I even do this?*

But I’d decided. I *would* find those girls. Tell them the truth. Cut these rotten ties myself.

After walking fifty meters, I pulled out the torn pages.

“…First stop… the Takanashi household? Seriously? Sisters? How scummy *was* my past self?!”

I singled out one sheet, squinting.

“…Hmm… Yoshida Apartments… wait—where *is* this place?!”

I frantically unfolded the other pages. Addresses meant nothing when I didn’t know a single street.

*Map app. Phone navigation.*

My hand instinctively patted my pocket—then froze.

No phone. I hadn’t found one in this room or these clothes.

*Does this version of me hate phones? Even I used one while living at the Sacred Shrine…*

Confused, I kept searching. My fingers closed around a thick wad of cash—and some golden flakes.

So much money… But these gold specks? High schoolers don’t carry gold. Probably just glitter.

I shook the flakes off, focusing on the cash.

This could buy a new phone. Though honestly, I knew nothing about prices. Shopping rarely crossed my mind.

Pocketing the money, I decided: phone first.

Lost and clueless, I couldn’t even attend school. The computer in my room was broken anyway. All I knew was my student ID details and today’s date—Saturday—from the wall calendar.

*Where’s the nearest electronics store? Which way’s the shopping district…?*

Strolling slowly, I soaked in the ordinary streets.

It’d been ages since I walked freely like this. Being a boy again felt… amazing.

“—WHOA!”

A massive black stallion suddenly charged across the intersection. I yelped, stumbling backward onto the pavement.

*Horses? Galloping through city streets?!*

Dazed, I watched it vanish. Then—

It reappeared. Blocking my path. Snorting hot breath inches from my face. Its gaze pinned me like it *knew* me.

Sweat beaded on my neck as I stared back, frozen.

“HRRRNGH!”

It snorted fiercely—then clamped its teeth on my shirt collar. With a violent jerk, it flung me onto its back.

“AAAAAH—!”

Panicked screams ripped from my throat. The stallion bolted, its joyful whinnies cutting through the air.

I clung desperately to its mane, face smashed against its neck.

*What IS this world?! Why’s there a horse?! Why’s it acting like my best friend?!*

After endless minutes of jolting terror, the motion stilled. I dared to open my eyes.

*Huh?*

I was floating mid-air. The stallion galloped away below me.

*Wait—WHAT?!*

Gently, I descended. My feet touched pavement just as my gaze locked onto a bowl-cut boy lowering his outstretched arm nearby.

*…Did he save me? Does he have a Superpower…?*

“Big bro, you okay—no, wait…”

He jogged toward me, then paused. His expression shifted.

“My apologies. I mistook you for someone else.”

He bowed slightly—already turning away. His white tank top marked him as just a morning jogger.

He sprinted off before I could process it. Gone in seconds.

My mind reeled, overloaded.

“Thank you—!”

I finally called out. But the street stood empty.

“…so much.”

*Why so cold…?*

After lifetimes of fake flattery, the dismissal stung.

*Sigh.* Fine. I’ll find that store street alone.
